Just set it up like this and you shouldn't have a problem

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.

Basic Tab:

Network Type:Infrastructure

Network Name:default

Channel : 1

Encryption Tab:

Network Authentication: Open

Data Encrption: Disabled

Soft AP Tab:

Check The Soft AP Mode

Check To Enable The ICS

Access Control Tab:

Access Control Policy: Accept

Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of coase you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.

Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched. But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.

RTS Threshold: 2347

Fragmentation Threshold: 2347

Preamble Mode: Long

Frame Bursting: Disabled

54g Mode: 802.11b only

54g Protection: Auto

Use Short Slot Time: Disabled

Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.

Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!

Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

As far as working with vista I'll check this out.

The Asus utility says it cant detect my WLAN card, but its installed, i'm thinking that either the drivers or the asus program doesnt work in vista, still tinkering with it...

i dont think you can and it wouldnt matter if its the nintendo one.
an actual wifi usb stick is better than the nintendo one.

Just follow the directions I posted above and any adaptor should work with these settings. The advantage with the nintendo adaptor is the price other wise there wouldn't be any diff.

Here's the three steps to follow.

1)
Now in the ASUS EXEs folder of the RAR file, extract the six EXE files in the into the ASUS folder (C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities). Make sure you overwrite the existing files.

2)Then click Start -> All Programs -> ASUS Utility -> WLAN Card -> ASUS WLAN Control Center. You will get a dialog asking if you want to use the Windows configuration utility or the ASUS one, select the option that uses ASUS one and disables the Windows one. Then there will be a wizard. Click Cancel to close the wizard.

3)
Now copy the file (C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities\Driver\WinXP\AP\rt2500usb.sys) to (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers). Make sure you overwrite the existing file.

Anything else I'll try to help you, WD

Use this setup then find your mac address of your wii and ad it to your allowed addresses and you should be away and running.

Once you have it installed here's a step by step.

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.

Basic Tab:

Network Type:Infrastructure

Network Name:default

Channel : 1

Encryption Tab:

Network Authentication: Open

Data Encrption: Disabled
