CSS laws have not changed. What has changed is a proposed amendment to the wording of the rules that would prevent any device such as a home server from breaking or bypassing the code in order to store encrypted video files on the server. Kaleidescope was sued by the MPAA for decrypting CSS, and the judge found them not guilty because the wording the DVD CCA used was not clear. Now there is a proposal to amend the wording to expressly forbid anyone from decrypting the files for any reason--even though the U.S. Supreme Court has stated that backing up one's one media is considered fair use. (No surprise there--the politicians are in Disney's and Warner's pockets. The U.S. Constitution states that an author has a 17-year right to his or her own work, no more, so that authors are encouraged to produce more. Present U.S. law, under pressure from Mickey Mouse, has raised the limit to 70 years after the death of the author. Unconstitutional? Of course. Everyone with a patent or copyright refers to "intellectual property." It is not property in any way. It is a license for exclusivity for a defined period, after which it reverts to the public domain. Property rights are forever; patents and copyrights are not--but unscrupulous politiicians are trying to make it that way.)
The proposal was introduced yesterday at the meeting of the CSS committee. It will take some time for the votes to be tallyed. It has no affect on those who have figured out how to excercise their right to fair use.

i heard that the MPAA has been in the process of finding a new solution to the DRM used in dvds. mainly because quite frankly it (dmca) violates fair use and makes consumers unhappy. they also are trying to ammend the dmca. not sure if this is all tied in together but im excited to see that there might be good results for consumers.
one solution they are looking into is watermarking. that way they can track down the guy who uploaded the file to p2p networks. hmm... good/bad?
there are also others who want to change copyright laws altogether, or rather actually enforce them, and force the owner of the copyright to pay (small) fees every year to keep the copyright (and thus keep it from going P.D.).
frankly besides the invasion of fair use the dmca is down right a stink on consumers. the wording is WAY too vague. it puts ALL the power into the hands of poloticians and corporations. however that won't last, the people won't allow for it.
all this may be whispers from some guys mind and not true. but even still it will have an affect, even if only a small one.

those are incredibly LOW PIF totals, one of the lowest i've seen!
how is that movie by the way? i've heard it was good, but would adults enjoy it as much as children? i haven't decided whether or not i should go out and buy it or not? worth the money?

Bridge to Terabithia:
Not bad...had some really cool stuff and than left you wanting...thats the whole plot...get up!! and then the cool stuffs gone...as for the plot, they tried to cram to much in to little time-
my friends kids loved it...as an adult dont try and make sense of the plot, or try to figure out what they are tyen to sell...I love fantasy movies...was a ok move- I would not pay it- borrow it and then have fan...LOL you'll feel better about yourself
CGI = 6-7
and yes it was a bumer and suprise about the girl...one minute she was a major part of the movie and then took her out...1.5 min. and then nothing movie goes on...just like a shape shifter- to this- to that..then see ya, woulda want to be'a fast pace with out meaning...

yes i am very impressed with this burn not only is the scan pretty dog gone good but the playback which is what matters is perfect.
i havent watched the whole movie just bits and peices to check out quality very nice..

Bridge TO Terabithia ?
Was in the Wallyworld the other day & Happpened To Find Bridge to Terabithia and Monty PYThon's Life OF Brian - In the 2 for $11.00 rack no less And Thinking That Darn somebody must've made a Class 4 mistake on the Bridge Movie ? I purchased Both it & the PyThon Dvd ! I not being as astute a Movie-buff /Dvd Collector as some of the great afterdawners did'nt know at the Time ! that LIke The Chronicles of Narnia Bridge to Terabithia is a Remake & I had bought the original or atleast the earlier non-Disney version ! I have'nt gotten to watch it yet! But the Youngest Grandson is here so sounds Like a plan ! So when I saw that I had the Right but Wrong Movie I got The Newer Disney Version & will Watch that too ! The older version is like 30 minutes shorter according to the cover - 60minutes versus 90minutes for the disney version! IN the Narnia movie The original version The white Witch is like way over the top ( Overacting & campy IMHO!!!) and Mr. Beaver looks Like a Guy in a Hotdog and Bun suit Painted brown ) But it still pretty decent as a Childrens/family film !well I look forward to more watching ( movies ) & more Talking to & learning from You all!

how many ya need? that last scan was on the 8x+r's not my newly found 16x+r(printable)
if ya havent done it yet you might wanna try that new firmware for the LH-18A1P GLOH...might have just made that drive the best one yet.. heck i burnt some video clips onto one of those memorex RW's and scaned it... got a 93... cant beat that...

cincyrob, i agree, what really counts is ultimately the playback of the backup itself, i was just taken aback by how low the PIFs were on that disc...i can only imagine the output is stunning~
regarding the PM, no prob~ i had to sign onto THIS account just so i could check greensman's PM~ hehe btw, i made the disc last nite and will be out in the mail to you come tomorrow morning~

i think those TYG03's are awsome.. and the LH-18A1P love themi have burnt 4 of them now out of a 50ct. and they have been flawless. i have the hub printables and cant say anything bad about them...

Yeah I've had good luck with them as well - I've used the 16x silver inkjet ones for about a year now - no coasters.
