Are you burning DVD, PS2 or CD?
Check what your "seperate image file at" is set to, as it all depends on that. if your burning a DVD then use "DVD Shrink" or similar and it will shrink it so it all fits on one blank DVD. If you're burning PS2 and your game is over 4GB you'll ned to put it onto 2 discs. then use DVD Decrypter and set the "seperate image file at" 4GB then burn 1 image per disc.

Hi beedown
When using dycryptor you get 2 image files.
When you are about to back up the image select only the image that looks like a silver disc icon - normaly at the top.
This is th eonlyimage to worry about.
Once this i sselected , just select your write speed (2X) and wait for the disc to be completed.
Then you get the funky music and a backed up disc in about 15 mins
great stuff
good luck

If you're still running Fat32 file system instead of much better NTFS then I'd highly suggest reformatting whenever you have the chance as NTFS doesn't have a 4Gb file limit !!;P)

I have a new v9 [silver] PS2 which does handle either +RW or -RW but normally they dont like the ReWritable format that much ... it depends on your model really but I'd always suggest using -R [+R] once you've learnt what you're doing :P)

And is there a way to check what version your ps2 is?

No , it doesnt really matter that much .. Id say the -R format is slightly more compatible but either should be fine [as long as you do not use Re-Writables]

Oh, and one more thing, people said if backing up a ps2 game and the file is too big to write the images on 2 disks so is this also related to the DVD-5 and DVD-9 thing? Or does dvd decryptor work for most ps2 backups regardless of size, just fitting it into 2 disks?

.rar is like a zip file. Download a program called winrar (search on google for it) and then it's simply a matter of extract the files then burning tham.

After you have extracted it, use DVD Decrypter. Open DVD Decrypter (Or Nero, Alcohol, or something similar)Select the ISO file that you extracted and in ISO Write mode, burn it to DVD.

Greetings.. I have read through various threads and have largely the jist of things of making backups, however a couple questions remain..
I have noted that swapmagic has various versions bundled with various tools to change the disc without an eject. I've also noted that swapmagic reportedly has issues with V9 PS2 versions. Is there any info or thread that details swapmagic compatability with what versions of it, and which PS2 revisions?
Also, to be sure, using swapmagic does not need a modchip, solderless or otherwise, but may not work with all games??
While this is perhaps a pie in the sky question, is it clear as to exactly what is done on an "original" PS2 disc that cannot be replicated in a backup that causes the need for all the software or hardware mods to work with a copy of a disc? thanks for any feedback...

get the swap magic 3.2 version and it will work. When combined with cd loader, swap magic can load every single game (except for DVD-9 games). The reason we cant just copy ps2 games is that there is a code on the disc that the computer cannot read or duplicate.

Sly... Thanks for the feedback... For my info, how does CD loader work with swapmagic.. is there a process involved? From my reading, I would take a game copy, install the swapmagic CD or DVD disc dependng on the game, and then flip the load or slide out the tray after it loads, then insert the game and press "X"... is there more?
Thanks

Hiya folks. A brief question.
I have a Flip Top lid and swap magic discs. Is there anything special I need to do to be able to play backups? I'm getting a DVD Burner today and already have Nero ... (and given the fact I've recently had games stolen by neighbors who are no longer allowed in my house ... -_-) I wanna get right to work backing up what I still have.

The only thing you need now is DVD Decrypter and your set. THere is a url that shows the steps of how to do do the back up if you need assistance. Im pretty sure you can find it on one of these threads if you just scan through the different topics of discussions.
