Blur looks interesting, but it's very rare that paying £35 for a game is worth it. Here's hoping Starcraft 2 is one such an example, having today pre-ordered it (before the Beta key offer expires at GAME)

What exactly do those hacked drivers add? I'm not too worried if it just adds speaker fill.
If you are on XP they don't add anything. If you are on Vista or 7 they add the Creative Console.

And if you reboot in safe mode and run the Crystallizer unlocker that comes with the hacked drivers you unlock the X-Fi Crystallizer and CMSS-3D Stereo Surround.

Sorry about the poorly cropped screenie BTW did it in 10 seconds with paint...

If we want to game on that beast we'd probably need a similarly price rig with LN2 for the OC lol.

Nah I can post it right here. The actual info files for the modded drivers are hosted right on Creative's forums. There was a legal battle between Creative and Daniel_K for a while but they finally dropped it after he agreed to add the "unsupported by Creative" tags on the downloads.

http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blas...BF436F5628024B1

I have a few instructions not entirely outlined on the page for you.

1) Remove your old Creative drivers by uninstalling them and then run "Driver Sweeper Pro" in safe mode to clear out the old entries.

2) After you install the hacked driver, reboot in safe mode and navigate to wherever you extracted the driver files. Run the Crystallizer Unlocker which should be in the same directory as the Setup.exe. It should show a dialog telling you it worked successfully.

3) After this is all done reboot into regular Windows and navigate to Start->All Programs->Creative->Creative Audio Control Panel

Click on the performance tab. Set your sampling rate to 96KHz and your bit depth to 24-bit. Setting these means an instant increase in audio quality because you are using the full abilities of the card. It may say they affect your performance but it doesn't.

I recommend you also create a shortcut to the Creative Console Launcher. I dunno how you are about sound but I use it almost every day so I added a quicklaunch icon for it.

Lucky you I had a PC here with an Audigy SE when I wrote this. These steps are 100% guaranteed to work if followed correctly.

@Sam

This is the newest version of these drivers if you care to try again with your card.

Well, I tried :P

Third party drivers still leave a lot to be desired.

Bummer. It would almost be worth it to buy a new Audigy SE to try it again. Your case is very strange because I have used the hacked drivers on maybe 10 different sound cards and they work perfectly every time. Actually never seen a fail...

These are supposedly a special exception to that rule. The driver package and the content it contains are property of Creative. The only changes Daniel_K made is putting them together in that package. Every part of them is official except for the release itself.

Just FYI I am using the official Creative drivers for my X-Fi Xtreme Music and the Daniel_K drivers(for both X-Fi and P17x) are identical in form and function bar the fact that the X-Fi has a much higher sampling rate and thus moderately better sound quality...

I do hope you're not still on the RC version of 7... that would be my best guess as to why they don't work properly...

Well, I do have two Audigy SEs, one is now broken, but didn't work with Daniel_Ks when I tested, and neither does its working replacement.
I'm not still using the RC version, I bought Win7 retail a while back.

Dang, my best is 7-8k lol (I'm not exactly a fantastic player either though)

I don't play very often, but I have never seen a single person jumping.

Estuansis, glad to see you use something besides the rocket launcher for kills XD

I only play medic and usually have the most kills for my team. It's sad when that happens actually because I usually get at least 20 revives a match as well.

My best best is like 13K. Similar spread to that with an additional Gold Star(5000Pts). Should have screenied that I nearly sh*t myself when I saw the final score. I was in the zone XD

Haha I use the M2 Carl Gustav. Nasty little buggers :P But yeah most of my kills are with the AKs-74u Krinkov and the UMP45. Dunno why but I love SMGs. Enough volume of fire to be potent over long distance, but still small, quick to reload, and flexible for close quarters. It sure helps that I use the custom silencer with a red dot sight for better accuracy :P

Good to hear you do your job, I can't recall how many times a medic has run past me after I died :\

For any amount of real gaming the 5450 is dire. It'll do you well for older titles but most new games are pretty demanding.

Why are you dependent on availability in your town? Most of us order online. Newegg.com is the best store for the US and scan.co.uk is one of the better ones for the UK.

The HD5450 is abysmal for gaming, it really needs to be an HD5670, or at the very least aN HD4670.
