It will not affect your channel order.

got the cable free with a digivox not the same no?
Should be but is the USB adapter a USB to serial port adapter are you using XP or vista and have you downloaded the driver for the adapter to your pc? I would flash from a standalone pc as these adapters can cause grief.
Apologies Celt didnt see you there :)

No, never flashed a box ever on cable theyve always been pre-flashed on arrival, have the 2008 v Eurovox loader up and trying to download with no joy - box incidentally is working fine just trying the digivox out (crap in my book).
Tried the leads out with my technomate and its fine

If you have them sorted already it will not affect the order they are in. If you havent sorted them this will not do that for you as it is a firmware update not a cdf.

No worries Scouser , I'm more than likely stepping on your toes :)
The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your map software to recognize.
You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data.
To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:
1. Go to the Start Menu
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Properties"
4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
5. Click on "Device Manager"
6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected
If you need drivers go here

What i do is load it onto the box and copy the same file back and edit it in the channels and save so if i want to have another one i just use the same file

Some areas have reported problems scanning for tps after the update. To get aroung this download a channel dump from your EV before flashing, (then clear channel data), then flash the box. After flash has completed upload your original channel file back to the EV and that should be it.
@ Witko its up to yourself if you want to reflash the September one is fine, but the latest one is quite a noticeable difference.

Can you borrow one with a parallel port? As I would not advise using any sort of converter.
