Whats the deal with this netid scanning?
Supposed to be much faster.
I set my region under the netid scanning menu option, but dont know what to do after that.
Anyone know how to do it on Sportster? Step by step would be good.
Cheers

Network attached storage + Dbox

Hi there,

I have a Dbox 2 and a network attached storage device that I got in the last Lidl sale.

Both these devices are attached to my router.

Does anyone know how to record from the dbox to the NAS storage??

Thanks in advance,

Pad

Gents,

I'm on NTL in Dublin and my picture is jumpy on the dbox on some channels. Sky movies etc is fine but RTE and channel 4 are unwatchable.

I read that using other's service.xml file can resolve the problem.

Can you send me your services.xml?

I noticed a few links to one but they are broken.

Many thanks!

You could try scanning the mgb17's version of UK 6887. Or NTL cable dublin. My services etc are posted here.

Anyone fit a 3 pin plug on their Nokia?
Can you just cut the 2 pin plug off, and you have a blue and brown wire for a 3 pin?

Certainly can mate.. They're not earthed, so just connect one to neutral and the other to live (doesn't matter which).. Just don't connect anything to earth..

I have tried them all, sporster 1.7 on the nokia was my most stable. I now have commando 7.5 on a sagem 2x which is going well, and most of the 1x sagems are pacino or regular sporster 1.7.
The other sportsters didnt work too well for me, and commando needs ucode 001A & mgcam

I usually just jam something in the earth and put the 2 pin in. This means my german plug could have gone in 2 different ways, so like benifa says, it doesnt matter which wire goes where, as long as it is not earth.

Got a DBOX II the other day with the sportster 176 image on NTL. I noticed that Sky Sports 2 comes up as the channel at the bottom of the screen but the station is UKTV and not Sky Sports 2 the same thing happens with Sky Sports 3 do you know why? Do I need to scan for channels again to fix the issue?

Cheers all....

ALWAYS backup before rescanning. Go to services and image backup. You want to back up one partion without bootloader.
This is now saved in the tmp folder on the dbox. If the dbox is turned off or rebooted it will be deleted. The file will be called something like mtd3.img.

Now you can put this on your PC if you have the cables and FTP software, but as long as you do not restart the box it is still there.

Now go to service scan.
Pick bouquet- update existing, or leave existing.
Manual scan off-
Service provider, e.g. ntl cable dublin

then start scan. This should leave your channels in teh same order and rename them. Sometimes some channels get duplicated or moved to the end, these can be deleted or removed.

If you end up with a bad scan you can always go back and reload/restore the image you just backed up. This can be done without a PC, just go to the same place where you picked to backup but this time restore, without bootloader, the saved image will be selectable.

Better to have a few wrongly names channels than no channels.

Nope, because magnet use DSL.. The dbox cable is only comptible with cable. VM in the UK, or NTL/Chorus in Ireland..

Hi,

I'm trying to configure a DVB-C card in a PC to view NTL/UPC cable in Galway. I've been having some problems finding any channels. I finally figured out that the symbol rate for NTL in Galway is 6887 and the QAM is 64 and scanning with the software that came with the DVB-C card (a TechnoTrend Budget C1500) I can see 14 channels encrypted. I'm not worried about the encryption (yet) but I'm not seeing anywhere near all the channels. I suspect the software I used for scanning only looks at preconfigured frequencies rather than brute force scanning the whole lot.

So I'm wondering if anyone here could share a list of channels and their frequencies from their dbox2? I could then feed that into my scanner and see if it gives me more channels.

Thanks,

patch
