What do you mean? the picture is faulty?

Setanta sports (now called setanta ireland) comes in twice on all the scans I have tried. It has 2 separate settings yet seems to be the exact same channel. Picture is always fine for me.

I mean it takes up 2/3rds of the screen, then a thin vertical line, then the picture again, which only shows about the first third of it.
Same on both channels.

If the DM600 reach the market you have to wait a couple of weeks until the special images are ready. The dm600 is only announced and didn't reach the dealers yet.
Btw. the 500t box is available from some dealers.

I am having the same problem . to clarify .

its as if the first 3/4s (looking from left to right) contains the full image. then the final quater of the screen is a repeat of the first quarter. very weird. I have figured out how to fix it but its really annoying.

you have to go into the dbox menu and change the aspect ratio until the full image shows up.

the problem is that when you switch back to a differnet channel you get black bars top and bottom.

did anyone figure out how to fix this properly

Hi, I just bought a nokia dbox2 from ebay with Neutrino Linux Sportster Software 1.10 on it which has all german cable providers and no uk ones. I am completely new to this and the whole flashing thing confuses me. I downloaded the sportster 1.7+uk05_2x image from the forum and the cables.xml and services.xml files. can somebody tell me what to do now in simple english. I know I have to hook up to my pc using the crossover (and serial cable?) and then use an FTP program to upload the file. The part that confuses me is do I have to put both xml files and the sportster image on? can somebody point me in the right direction for this procedure, thanks in advance, great forum

You have to flash first the new image and if the image is running you can upload the files you want.

Use this version of the irish cables.xml and try chorus cable or chorus bruteforece. Upload to /var/tuxbox/config, delete scan.conf in the same folder and unplug the box.

Quick Question Guys:

Are D-Boxes illegal to buy/sell in Ireland?

As far as I was aware there is some kind of law against selling these in the U.K but as far as I know no such law exists here?

I know it probably breaks your Cable Providers terms and conditions to use one (though I doubt they would even cancel your subscription if they knew about it) but is it illegal to buy, sell or own one?

Thanks,
Robert

its not illegal to buy sell or own one,it is breaking the terms and conditions contract of your cable provider to connect one to your line as you are only allowed to use their equipment and they could sue you but probably wouldnt get far it definitely is illegal to have an emulator on it that can decrypt channels you havent paid for and they would need to prove you had an emulator on it but to be honest they wouldnt bother.

Has anybody added a HDD to the nokia d-box. I see you can buy an IDE interface that allows you to hook up a HDD so that you can record directly on the HDD. Anybody tried this?

I have put my new cables, services and bouquet here
http://techno-source.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=2874#2874

Sky movie channels renamed with sky movies at the end so it is clearer on screen. e.g. sky movies comedy is now comedy sky movies.

I have put the HDTV 9 & 10 at the end of the bouquets.
I added a "spare channel" which was previously scuzz.
Other channels names were updated e.g. discovery turbo.
I renamed the duplicate setantas Ireland a, and Ireland b.

Made some other changes to names, like FILMFOUR+1 is now Film Four +1
I changed a few names like this to better match the others in the group.

I am emailing the sagem 1x and nokia 2x images to benifa right now.

Just a quick tip for anybody only picking up around 50 channels, turn fast scan OFF and then you should get 140+

They dont, but they are still broadcasting at least epg info for skymovies 9 & 10 which are supposed to be HD. I included them at the end of my image file along with the channel that was scuzz. This sort of futureproofs the image. I am guessing that NTL will be likely to release new channels on these same settings, (like golf appeared on flaunt). This way people who dont have much access to pc's or can not scan correctly might automatically get new channels in and only have to rename and move them. Or even just live with the wrong name, at least they have them.

I imagine many people here are getting boxes for mates who are not into much technical stuff.

can anyone reccommend a good seller?

thanks in advance

They are basically the same thing, dbox2 is cheaper than dreambox but dreambox looks nicer.
I bought mine from germany on ebay from this guy, flashed, all cables etc and it works great!!!
