Kein System means no system. You crashed the software and there is no working operating system on the box.
IFA is you onliest option to reflash the box.

You probably flashed a 1x image onto a 2x box or Visa/Versa
Find out if its a 2x or 1X you need and flash using IFA
You may need Null modem cable too, I can never get IFA to flash the Kein System error without one connected.

I can but it is difficult. Just keep on trying and use the 2 button press to reboot. After pressing OK let go after 1 or 2 seconds. If the cursor stays static it will end up being a "kein system", if it flashes it will be a "lade" and could load the image. It can take up to 20 goes to get it, but once you get in the hang of the 2 buttons and instantly cancelling if you get a static cursor it doesnt take long.

Thanks for all the help guys and the PM from Benifa, I really appreciate it.
Unfortunately I still cant connect to the box using IFA.
I'm not sure what IP address I should be using (as I cannot check on the box itself as it will not boot), when IFA tries to ping it it fails. I tried the settings in this thread http://techno-source.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=496 but it just crashed the program.
I have a null modem cable on the way from the UK, is connecting to the box more straightforward with this? I'm fed up at this stage, I've tried messing about with it for hours and can't get anywhere.
Might just give up and wait for the cable, not sure what else I can do.

Without a working operating system on the box there is no IP. The box get a IP from IFA only for flashing and the request from the box must reach IFA. There is also nobody who can answer a ping.
Set your network card to 10baseT half duplex and give the network card a fixed IP. Disable winxp firewall and all other installed security programms.

yes and yes. i was getting all channels till chorus upgraded their system now i get nothing. i pick up 1 transporter every now and again but no channels. i still have basic chorus and freq, s/r and id haven't changed.
What do you get if you select chorus cable?
Fast scan must be disabled.[/quote]
i altered the cables file with the freq of the chorus box and found 11 channels not even on the chorus package yet. still cant pick up the rest tho. i get nothing when i select chorus cable.

322 is already included in the irish cables.xml and if you don't see it you don't use the right file.
Upload the irish.cables.xml from irish4.zip to /var/tuxbox/config and delete scan.conf in the same folder. Unplug your box.
In some UK based images the cables.xml belongs to /share/tuxbox.
If you FTP to the box you are landing inside the var folder.

I had a lot of trouble using IFA last night, in the end I ftp'd the image onto the box (cant do this with a kein system). It was much faster to update this way.
Is 1x and 2x versions only for IFA, i.e. could I FTP a 2x image onto a 1x box and flash it?
My nokias were very stable last night, 1 hour into plugging in a sagem it dropped all channels, recovered on a reset. My mate also has a sagem which is dropping channels a fair bit.

UPC is playing with cable currently in Dublin.
In some areas the wires will be replaced and some areas got no TV signal for one or more days.
All that actions can also affect the signal strength.

No 1X and 2X is the number of Chips in the Box eg. 1X is 1 chip
So you can only flash a 1X with a 1X and a 2X with a 2X image.
If you flash the wrong one you will get "Kein System" and the only way to fix this is to flash the correct one with IFA.
This should be the only reason you need to use IFA
Also someone asked about updating cables.xml and it not actually updating
You will have to delete the file scan.conf from the same folder after updating the cables.xml

Yep I have had the whole kein system thing myself. I was unsure if the 1x 2x thing was related more to the IFA software. e.g. the IFA might send the info twice as fast to the 1x box from a 2x image. I thought maybe once the image is on the box, via FTP that it might not matter if it is 1x or 2x.
I was working with commando 6 and trying to change the cables.xml
I found it and replaced it and got no changes even with scan.conf deleted.
I have since found out that the cables.xml could be in a shared folder but the image I had downloaded must have had it in 2 places.

It's not that..
The Sagem Dbox2 comes in two flash memory chip variations. Either it has two flash chips or only one. Nokia always have two flash chips. If you peer through the vents on the top cover of the dbox you'll be able to see them. They'll be branded Intel or AMD..
The image that you flash therefore will either be configured to write all the data to one flash chip (this is a 1x), or split it over two flash chips (this would be a 2x image)..
That's why we get Kein System if we flash the wrong image..

Hello Again Guys,
In regards to my Klein System problem I got it sorted with this excellent guide and instructions:
http://netwave.redirectme.net/dbox/ifa/
Now that I can try images again, I'm still looking for the most stable one.
I tried Benifas one here:
http://www.ifawilson.com/downloads/Dbox/...+%20uk05_2x.exe
It's working fine (I prefer this simpler Sportster layout, the channels change quicker) but there is a lot of glitching and freezing. I tried doing a BruteForce IE scan and it did not improve, the Uk6887 was better but still a lot of freezing.
I also tried Garlads one:
http://www.ifawilson.com/downloads/Dbox/...8_2x_Dublin.exe
This one gave me much better reception and no freezing.
I did not like the Sportster Pro layout though, there was too much information on the screen, it was very slow changing between channels and every time I tried changing settings (such as getting rid of some of the stuff on screen) it seemed to shut down (and be slow to start again).
If there was some way of combining the stability of the Sportster Pro image with the more straightforward layout and menus of the normal Sportser image it would be great.
I will try out the other uploaded images next, if anyone can recommend their favourite please let me know. I have 10 D-Boxs arriving that I am giving to family and friends so I want to establish what is the best and most stable image to put on all of them.
Thanks again for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

Hi there,
I've heard nothing about commando, everyone seems to use Sportster.
Perhaps you could upload your image, I want to try as many as possible to find the best.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi, I have a good stable dublin version of 1.7 on my 2x nokias. I have my channels sorted by type. I have also "future proofed" the service and bouquet files. By that I mean I have added in the channel that was previously scuzz, I have renamed this "spare channel", I have added it in the bouquet as channel 142. When setanta golf was broadcast it went into the channel where "flaunt" was previously, flaunt was still on my service file but I couldnt find a way to get it into my bouquet with out a service file (perhaps a scan on update bouquet" would have worked). It was watchable but stuck at 141, this "spare channel" will be able to moved up to a different place if a new channel does take its place, (without the need for a PC or much know-how)
All of my scans result in only 130 channels these days, and some channels are jittery. The image I have is stable though.
If you (or anybody) wants a copy then pm my your email, I have both 1x & 2x versions.
sporster pro was unstable for me too, commando didnt work, I got a 7.5 version with no keys, put the keys on from sposrter 1.7 but it didnt work. The only think I like on sporster pro & commando is that you cant press right after home and you get info on the other channels without taking over the screen

Hi Im new here and I was wondering if someone could help me.
I have a D BOX 2 with Sportster UK Image 2x Intel Flash.
However my NTL is from an Antenna on the roof of my house which the frequency I think is MMDS in Co Dublin. However I cannot tune the box in due to this. Is there a way I can get this box to work over NTL MMDS? What do you I need to do? What steps should I take?
Any help you guys could provide me with would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks

Try this cables file
http://www.ifawilson.com/downloads/Dbox/...rect/cables.xml
you will have to FTP it onto your box, and possibly delete scan.conf
Then do try one of the mmds scans.
If you are more comfortable with IFA then flash on the entire image here, http://www.ifawilson.com/downloads/Dbox/Dublin/from%20ruprect/
this contains a cables for mmds.
FIrst off check if your box already has a cables with mmds.
dbox
service menu
pin 1111
service provider (press OK to scroll through them)
Fast scan off

ok I've got a little problem with my dBox and would love some help.
I'm in Dublin and have NTL (not Digital but Ordinary)
I've scanned a few times and got 41 channels.
All the terestrial channels like BB1 & RTE etc are missing and only 2 channels have uncoded setanta and the city channel and well I can get them on NTL anyway.
The rest all have "decode pending". Written on them. Will this eventually sort itself or have I done something wrong?
Also the channels are showing me event listings and times but no picture or sound.
I am using CableUK Sym6887.
Although the same came through when I used BruteForce For UK
