Has anyone noticed that when you encode the m2v files with TMPGEnc the small ones become bigger? I just moved them into the same dir as the original m2v's and overwrit the ones that were bigger than the encode. Anyway my iso ended up as 4.03 gigs. Does anyone know what things you have to do different for the PAL version? Theres times in the tut where sizes match up (1 infact) and all other times all the sizes are off. Anyone made a successful PAL backup?

I've followed your god guide to the T. But right now I'm stuck on the part in the cd/dvd generator part where it talks about writing down SLUS or SLES files, then it says type it into without any periods/spaces. I don't see any files that have SLUS or SLES:o( S.O.S

is it possible just to back this up to a dvd dual layer disc without modification, sorry if this has already been asked, i did some seaching and couldn't find an answer, i would like to know before i make a coaster out of one of those slabs of gold

never mind i think i found my answer, what i read was that you can copy them to a dvd dual layer but it won't work with swap disc which is what i use, if anyone knows differently please let me know

I think modded PS2's aren't compatible with dual layer backups, so they need to be rebuilt.

Depends on the mod you're using. Some chips have DL capability built in. Others just need a firmware update. For the rest of us, there's the toxic DL patch. We're still waiting for a Swap Magic solution. Probably never happen though.

hi there. i'm new and young but i'm trying for the best in the ps2 scene. getting to the subject, i got my own gow game and as all of you guys did, i decided to make a backup of it.
first of all i would like to ask if i can possibly burn a patched iso of the game using toxic's patcher and boot with swap magic 3.3 on my v7 ps2.
my main concern though is that despite the fact that i tried to backup the game with sonixs' movie downsampling method with the pss downsampling tool i got some really weird problems which i 'd like to share with you. this is exactly how i did it: after having read many of the described opinions and facts i got to the assumption that i needed to patch my iso with dl patcher and THEN start the ripping process. so i patched it and continued with the usual munge file extraction and pss downsamling (pss downsampling tool). BUT BUT BUT BUT when it was time to do the relinking procedure i started bumping into a trail of problems. i pressed the rebuild button (in the munge o mattic that i use) and everything went well until i got to the relink screen. now pay attention cause this is the big one: i pressed the auto relink dupes button and after the job was done and i had to do the rest manually , i had this problem:i couldn't find matching files for all of the psw so i had to leave some un-linked. then i continued normally and finally burned the iso and booted up. but as the first level played fine, when i reached what looks to me like a save point (after the boss fight where the boss usually grabs you with her mouth and you press triangle to escape) the game goes to load something with no return. just the sound of something about to be heared and a black screen.
help. i did the renaming and all this to the files but nothing. help. should i try it again withough patching and using the specific gow tool?.

wusshood, the answer to your first question is yes, if you burn it correctly using sonix guide and quality media it will play with swap magic 3.6

no to your second question, dvd 9 does not work with swap magic

is this something i'm doing wrong or am i working with a corruption?
when i try to use the god of war tool to extract the GOW TOC file i get the following error message: "ERROR OPENING PART2.PAK!" how do i get the pak 2 file??????????

I have other problems too as my backup doesn't seem to be going the same way as detailed by Jizmak's original thread.

I used DVD Decrypter to ceate ISO (and MD5) files. I extracted the iso and ended up with a folder with 15 files (not 16) @ 3.x gb (not 7.x)

more problems but hopefully if these q's are answered they'll resolve themselves.

This is the first time i've tried to back up from a dual layer disc so i'm sure it's a basic noob mistake - please please help though

For you, Dsouth, the file that is asked to download from Nero page must be located in your C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder. After that your problem with that error is solved.
For you, mgzombie, you must run Apache 2, select the iso created by DVD Decrypter and click with the right button of your mouse on the ISO name, select "change Layer". That gets the PART2.PAK file.
Worked for me theese too solutions.
have fun

Well, I've always used Nero and I keep it instaled in my pc. But stil I had to copy the file to the system32 folder. Try to get Nero and install it. It might solve your problem and its a good burner.
good luck
