I Did Make Copies Of God OF War Using This Tutorial, But My Problem Is That When Playing The Game The L-1 Button Does Not Work. There For You Cant Block Or Use Other Weapons. Its A Real Bummer. Anyone Know What I Did Wrong In The Building Process Or Has Anyone Had The Same Problem?
I Used Both Sonix And The Tutoial On the First Page To Make Backups.
Other Than That Great game.

Go to www.backuptools.co.uk and register, then go to the downloads section, tutorials. Download either god of war tutorial version 2 or 3, both are pdf files and have pictures. If you are using the NTSC version then the images should exactly match your process.

Yes i did. I used the first tutorial which removes all bonus content and ingame videos instead of downsizing them (tutorial 2 or 3). My recommendation is to use the first tutorial and burn the final ISO with DVD Decrypter at 2.4x speed on a decent media.

I'm using Munge-o-matic! to rebuild the .iso after the .pss downsampling has completed. HOWEVER: I've run it a few times now and it always just locks up right here: "Adding HAD1C1_2.VPK"
I'll let it run for like an HOUR and it still just sits right there not doing anything.
I'm following the .pdf tutorial exactly but I can't get past this point.

I suppose the process might lock up depending on your computer. My advice is to copletely back up the extracted/rebuilt folder before you munge it back togethor into a .pak file. I found that mine would randomly pause and sometimes the relinking would not come up. After the munge-o-matic or god of war tool has tried to repack the files it adds an underslash to the end of the files and then it wont pick them up again, so it helps to have a constant backup of the files. Also, make sure you close everything that might interrupt the process or a ram hogger like a firewall or any web browsers, etc. If all else fails try to get a copy of a rebuilt one from someone and do a direct 1:1 copy of it.

Okay, it worked finally and I got throught the part where you have to reattatch the .psw files with the .pss ones, but in the tutorial it says to open cd/dvd gen...I don't have that. The tutorial didn't come with it, and I can't find it on backuptools.co.uk's download sections.

Okay okay, I found it using google, it's CDVD Gen, not CD DVD. That's why I couldn't find it. Anyway, I now have a working copy of God of War on a single-layer TDK 16x DVD-R :)
There is only one thing wrong with it so far, and I'm sure it had something to do with all the .pss downsampling...during any scene (so far, I'm only still doing the tutorial part at the start of the game) where there is any speaking going on, the audio kinda ... 'hiccups' ...
I don't really care at all, the game's fun enough for me not to even care but I was hoping this was not just MY problem, you know?
Thanks all.

Hi guys, I'm having the same problem as Kronic. When doing the relinking part I have 3 pss files and 3 psw files that match the pss files. But they're all in the missing files side. Any ideas as to why this might be? Also, how do I fix this problem? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

I think i had a problem like this, just not as severe. Only a few files were missing from the left hand column. I think this happens if something goes wrong during the entire process from start to the relinking. Sometimes the relinking would never even come up for me, so always make a backup of all the pss files and contents of the extracted folder. Also, if you are using the God of War tool, try switching to Munge-o-Matic.

Well that sounds like your problem then, you have to do the opposite and delete all the .psw files. Have you got it to work now?

Hey guys, if anyone is having trouble ripping God of War to DVD 5 and getting it to play, here is what I did. I booted it up with Swap Magic 3.6 (might have to use special boot if normal boot doesn't work) and played it for 45 minutes last night. Not once did I get a sound or voice hiccup or any delay in load times or cut scenes. So I thought I would let you all know how I accomplished it ( it was very easy).
1. Use DVD Decryptor to burn an image to your hard drive
2. Download the following software and follow instructions:
Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT:
From Anthony 05:
Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.
1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.
Make sure you do it in that order.
3. Burn the new iso image with DVD Decryptor at 4X on good media
4. Put you game in after booting up with Swap Magic and have fun.
This worked for me, as I said above I have only played the game for about 45 minutes so I might encounter promblems later in the game but I thought if this method works it would help some people with making a DVD 9 game fit onto a DVD 5.

I also ripped The Guy Game to DVD 5 the same way and have had no problems with it either.

Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere...
Does the sonix tool work for Macs? I'm downloading the game right now & still have a few hours till it's done. I opened the folder that it's downloading to and there's a bunch of .rar files. Is there a different way to burn God Of War if i'm using a Mac (as opposed to the method that's already described for Windows users)? I've only burnt one other game so far & that was a direct disc copy for X-Men Legends II, which works perfectly for me. I'm using Toast Titanium 7.
Thanks for your help & I apologize again if this has already been answered somewhere else.

After you use the sonix tools to extract all the files, there should be lots of .pss and .psw files in the directory. Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known filetypes" unselected in folder options, and delete every .psw file. Depending on which tutorial you are using, you know either delete some bonus pss files, uss pss downsampler on them or convert them to mpeg files.
