I have had a PS2 and XBOX for a few years now.
The PS2 broke down once (faulty laser) and a control pad broke (analogue stick), and the XBOX has been running fine for over two years.
So, as for reliability, id edge towards MS. However, I don't discount sony from the equation. I'll be getting a PS3 also (probably bankrupting me, but hey). Both companies have relevant experience and have proven themselves to ME. It's all to do with preferences I suppose, personally I can't stand the Gamecube. I don't know of any faults with the system, it has just never appealed to me and the games have never impressed me.
My point is - Does it matter if the console (which ever you prefer) breaks down whilst under warranty? When you're getting so much entertainment value from it. I certainly can't buy a PC with the same spec any cheaper.

I think I should change the title to:
CPU, GPU and Power supply are overheated. But many still say that Xbox 360 is better than PS3.

dude i got a 360, and i dont give a sh*t about the demo disk, they limit you too much. if i want a game i go to a mates house (but none of them have 360's yet, but i did that with other consoles), or i get a better second demo or best of all, BUY THE FKING THING.
5 hours aint sh*t, ive ran mine for 8 hours non stop always on and it wasnt overly hot, it mas moderately quiet, everything was fine.
IT HAS NO HEAT PROBLEMS like you also seem to think.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......

you ppl with the faulted ps2's must have early versions. i think i has a v3 and it lasted fine untill i took it apart and broke the cord connecting the controllers to the mainboard. now i have a v7-9, im not sure which one. its been perfecct, and froze maybe three times in the 2+ years ive had it.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

wasnt it already watercooled? and why put the money into it? those setups cost like minimum
80 bucks, adding onto the 550 you already spent on your 360 with wifi.

I know it is an extra cost. But what if someone's xbox 360 is out of warranty and has problems with CPU and GPU overheat, he really need "Walter Cooling System" for his xbox 360 to run.
He can send it to MS to fix. But it costs more!!!

This lawsuit is more than just a money grab. Microsoft has to own up to the fact that they rushed the 360 out early without fixing these problems. The only way to make them admit this is in court.

Yeah, It is money. I think the Chicago man probably withdraw his file to sue MS. Becasue no one is supporting him except YOU and I. Plus it costs to much to sue MS.

You know thats what really annoys me with all these big companies, there's no way the little guys like us could file a lawsuit against companies like M$ because they are so damn rich, heck even if bill gates came round with a baseball bat trashed your house then stuck your cat down the toilet he would get away with it. They like to give you illusion of 'freedom' and 'justice' but its the same story all round, you got money then there's nothing that us horse sh*t shovelling peasants can do.

Thing is how long will components stand up to heat over a few months will be interesting to see if 360s start failing because of heat related failures

I agree. That is why the "Water Cooled Xbox 360" is out there. It will prolong the components' life.

@truthman I agree I have played mine 8to10 hr with no problems ,in the 4 weeks I have played my xbox360 it locked up twice on the same game{need for speed} which leads me to believe some games code is not what it should be.Before you fanboys start,my p2 locked up all the time and still does but that doesn't make it a bad, unless you fanboys think so and if thats the case what makes you think the p3 will not have the same problem. The anubis66 (fanboy)post have no solid proof, except the feble attempts to bash a system he can't afford .I'm not saying XBOX360 is perfect Im saying its a good system compared to whats out there and the last time i checked there is still no ps3 ,which means fanboys you cannot compare existing systems to future systems until they become a reality.

I'm sure they will. They will cry in their own room. M$ is screwing everyone up 'cause there is NO internal Blu-ray/HD-DVD drive in xbox 360 period.
As Sony has announced that the PS3 will feature Blu-ray/HD-DVD drive. I guess they should stop to argue that Xbox 360 is better than PS3.

right now we cant say one is better than the other, but things are shaping up for the ps3 to swoop in like the eagle they promise it to be.

No one knows what the ps3 will be able to do , so wait until it comes out to make it the king of all systems .If you want high def. you need a high def TV capable, not all tv 's are. There is a big diff between RCA and COMPONENT, you can't get HD with rca cables.
To get HD you need HD TV , if the DVD player has component outs for video all you need is a HD tv.

I 'm very happy with mine I bought the warranty from MS for 3yr it covers the system and the controllers. The reason i bought the 3yr you never know when electronics will short out. Most likely any problems they had at release will be worked out by the time you get your system.
