You do not need a disc for firmware 1.5 games
But for firmware 2.00+ games you do need a UMD inserted (this was the same for all versions of DevHook)

No you can't play ISOs on v2.6. You can either use the 2.5/2.6 downdater or install the modchip, but before you do either make sure you don't have the TA-082 motherboard because neither will work.

Firstly, I would remove your email.
Secondly, there is always a risk when performing a downgrade.
Thirdly, stop downloading whatever you are and d/l the easy downgrader from psp-hacks.com, you don't need the downdater file with this.

to downgrade just load this tutorial. once its loaded it takes about 3 minutes to go from 2.5/6 to 1.5!
the tutorial includes everything you need, and even talks to you through in installation. its awesome.

Hi,
just checking it is not legal to play an iso of a game if you own the umd? coz someone told me it is.
and is it legal to host iso files on for example a website if you put a disclaimer on it telling people you must own the game to download them?
Thanks

yeah, you should have the original copy of the umd, and yes if a site posts that it is legal.

Yea, all ROM sites have disclaimers telling you you should have a backup copy. Torrent sites don't care tho. They're proud to be pirates!

Your sigs way too big and the cussing in it isn't cool. There's a link to the forum rules in my sig, you'll find the rules about sigs there ;)
My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

OMG i am going crazy here!
I downloaded the us iso of monster hunter freedom, followed every instruction i could find, used devhook, umdemulater, daxziso i had patched it and it still didnt work.
so then i downloaded the european monster hunter freedom (www.espalpsp.com) dax iso and did exactly the same, tried everything applied the european patch and it still doesnt work.
When i load daxziso and select the game to run the screen goes black and then the psp crashes.
I have 1.5 firmware (thanks to dark_alex!) and i have run out of ideas
Please help if you have got this game to work and think you know what i am doing wrong.

alright man, go to this link and get the newest version of devhook (has 2.71 emulation!) http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/632, just put the dh folder in the root, and the psp game stuff in the game folder. Alright, now to check your iso or to save it as an iso use umd gen,http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/194 that will help a lot. Now drag that monster game into umd gen, if you get a psp_game and a umd.ben then you have an iso and dont have to go any futher. If there isnt a game and umd then you need to right click the file and extract it, now put the extracted file in umd gen, that should turn into the game and umd bin. All you do now is put your psp in usb mode, and add a new folder called "ISO" to the root of your ms and drag that iso game in there. That should help you, and yes i got that game to work.

Before you use the ISO with DevHook, you will have to decompress it. To do that use the PSP ISO Compressor V1.1 (download it from the utils/downloads sections of PSP-HAcks)
Use these settings:
ISO ANYUMD
2.XX-->2.00
dh\260 (or dh\271)
Pre load Address- 89000000
(You may have to mess around w/ the pre-load addresses to get it working)

No it doesn't write to flash, so it can't brick your PSP at all.
