LOCOENG -
I tried the info at the link you provided above, but here's the deal:
DVD Shrink kicks out before it begins shrinking. You "Open File" and select the movie, and it does its quick analysis with the video preview, and it's during that analysis that "Shrink" shuts down.
Any other suggestions I can try?

The solution for RAT was way back in the thread. We've just been chatting and waiting for some of the software updates to catch up since then. Even the old RI4M can be used to rip RAT. Just about any way you rip it, it's needed processing with FixVTS or VobBlanker. The cleanest rip I got for RAT was with AnyDVD + DVDD, and process with FixVTS in Full DVD.

hi fellas. where exactly can i go here in the forum to learn how to use vob blanker and fix vts? i've downloaded fixvts b4, but didn't know how to use it. thnx.
dvdfab has been taking care of everything so far, but i'm not in region 2, so i'd like to have some ammo just in case.

I had no issues ripping Ratatouille. All I used was DVDFab HD Decrypter + Imgburn. Backup worked with no issues.

hi malynch. did you use a dual layer blank to copy ratatouille, or did you use another app. to transcode it. it does require compression w/out a dual layer blank.

there's a 20% christmas discount on slysoft's products. except upgrades.
i'm confused when they say that when you purchase any of their products that you get free lifetime updates. is this the same as upgrades?
if not plse explain difference. thnx.

Getting a little off topic here :) - but lifetime updates mean updates for any product of theirs that you buy. It's a little different from say Nero that comes out with a new version every year or so. AnyDVD just keeps updating the program itself not really coming out w/ a new version.
The variation here would be when they added support for HD and Blu Ray a new product was created for this.
If you are interested in buying AnyDVD I would suggest doing it b/4 1/1/08 when they switch to euros from US dollars. This equates to 40% increase.

I got a dumb question about Ratatouille.
I am also having problems with this movie, but I don't see the problem that I am having listed here any where.
I am using DVDFabDecrypter (version 4.0.3.2 which I just updated today) to decrypt, Shrink to encode and DVDDecrypter to burn my movies.
I have been using this combination for about the last 100 movies that
I have burned and have had no problems at all.
When I tried to burn Ratatouille today I went through the whole process with out a hitch at all but when I went to play the movie to check that it was a good copy there was nothing there.
I then take what I thought was the burned DVD out and look at it and there is nothing on the disk.
I have repeated these same steps 3 times now with the same results.
Now the stupid question.
Is it possible to read a DVD with a burner and not be able to write to a blank DVD with the same burner?
I know that most people use 2 drives to read and write but I just did not have the money at the time to purchase 2 drives and have been using only one for both operations.

@GETaklu
Do you by chance have Decrypter set to 'test mode'? That would be one reason nothing is written on the disc.

A lot of people use just one drive, so that's not a problem unless the drive is dying. Usually the burning capability starts to die before the read. You should be getting some burn errors though. Check out what Binky suggested and get back to us.

I looked and couldn't find a place to change to test mode....
NM...I just seen it right on the front....plain as the nose on my face.
Yes it was in test mode.....I don't know how that happened I never even open it shrink opens it.
Thanks Binki....I hope that fixes it.

It should :)
Just an fyi - Shrink and Decrypter save your last setting until you change it. So my guess is decrypter was opened at one point and test mode checked. It will stay in test mode for burning until you uncheck it.
The bright side here is you don't have a coaster and can use that disc again to burn the movie it.

Good call Binkie. Sounds like GETaklu has his own personal gremlin. I've never seen that setting change unless there was a set of fingers to move the cursor and push the selection.

Ok, i'm stumped here on the Rat movie. I just read 8 out of the 9 pages here, and all looks good. I tried it with my normal DVD Shrink, and AnyDVD which works on 99% of everything i burn. It got towarss the end and gave me an error. So, i downloaded DVDFab platinum, and it ripped it fine. I opened Shrink to burn it(i have a dvd rom and a sep. burner)but it gave me an error, saying it could not read or specify the files.(can't remember exactly.). Am i doing something wrong or do i have a bad disc? Everything i'm using is the most current version BTW.
Edit---It goes 100%, then just before it goes into burn mode, the error say--- DVD video files reallocation failed???????????

You'll have to excuse me, I do a lot of DVDs and post on them at the time and forget about them after a while. I forgot exactly what I said about getting a flawless copy. I remember doing RAT a few different ways, but I don't remember which was the best solution. I'm sure I posted it though. Where I used RB for transcoding, you can use Shrink or whatever for the processing. The trick is in getting a good clean set of source files that are structurally stable. Your reallocation error indicates you may not have completely cleared up the copy protection or copy protection induced errror(s).

Ok, but i'm not sure i follow completely. In using both methods, if neither will clean it totally, what can i do? I've tried what i know, but it sends me errors...I'm currently triing dvdfab and only doing main movie, we'll see how that works.
I searched that error i'm getting, and it says it originates in Nero....Any advice?

ahh you have not been the only one getting this from dvdfab i have been getting the same error for awhile now. it seem the some VS of dvdfab is messing up the rip so you are unable to open the file in shrink, recode,or clone.. or at least i was not able to
i had havoc2 and a few other do this to me. i did get them done..
did you try just main movie?
