with any router you have setup issues. you of course must setup username and password on the router itself that is common to the 3G dongle for this to work

naz the f line is fine and so is the c line ,but i would take away the 200{0:0:1} at the end of the c line and just put no C:whatever.dyndns 12000 user pass no

you need to ensure you delete the # symbol at the start of any line you use ,the two main lines you use will be
SERVER LISTEN PORT: 12000
BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 a1 b2 c3 d4 (you would put your boxkey where i put the example a1 b2 c3 d4) and then you have your f lines and c lines .

the Client box has the exact cline but has the dyndns at the start.
internally i can get to the serverbox using a web browser. how can i check externally and is there anything else i can do.

portforwarding has been setup to the serverbox and dyndns has been updated online with the ipaddress of serverbox. is there a way to update the Dyndns updater or do you do it through the webside and it will automatically do it to the updater.

the updater will update automaticly ,you say the client box has the exact same c line (except it has the dyndns host name in it )did you give it a different username and password and like wise with the f line .all c lines you give out must have different user names and passwords .are you sure the port is open on your router (click on this link)
http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html
where you see host and port type in your dyndns host name and the port number you opened and click on send.

Hi.
Thanks for all help to date, got the DM500S setup with dish and all working as per tutorial at start of thread.
One minor issue, the voices are sometimes out of sync with the picture, is this due to the way i have the box configured, or the cardsharing site or the broadband connection.
I can live with it as is but would be nice to have it all in sync.
Has anyone else see this problem?

ntl to fix the sound sync problem (if your using nabilo image ,it may be different on other images) you need to press menu and the choose setup and then choose expert setup ,now press the down arrow button untill you see enable fast zapping highlighted in red (if its enabled it will have a green tick on the right )press ok to disable fast zapping and job done then just exit back to tv channels.
naz if your 100% sure the port is open go in to your router homepage and lower the firewall settings to low as that may be blocking access to the port. if this doesnt work you have to go back and double check and treble check that the settings in the router are correct and that the port is definately open.

Originally posted by piopat: the first thing to do with any box is to flash it with a good image(this is the tv software ) and also the image needs to be clone safe (if your box is a clone ) most new dm500s bought these days are clones .the items you need to flash your box are an image ,i suggest nabilosat darkstar 11 ,and you will need a loader called dreamup (the loader sends the image into the box ) and you will need a null modem cable to connect the box to your pc . you should be able to download the image and dreamup from the link in my signature area and lots more dreambox tools .
ok connect the dreambox to your pc via the null modem cable (leave the box plugged out ) and then go to your pc and open dreamup, the first thing you set is com port(this is the port where the null modem cable is connected) some pcs have more than one port so it may have options com1 and com2 etc ,i would start at com1. ok now click on connect (info should appear in the info box ) it should say box type in this case dm500 and also box is alive and speaking ,(this is the point if com1 is the wrong com port that no info will appear in the info box so then try com2 etc )you should see connection prepared no plug in your box and you will see more info in the info box. now click on flash and you will be directed to browse your pc for the image you downloaded ,when you find the image click on it and then click either open or press enter and you will be returned to dreamup . you will be asked if you want to perform a flash erase (you say no )and your box should be flashing now ,it takes about 12 minutes for a dm500 to flash .what untill the flashing process is 100% complete then click disconnect and then disconnect and unplug your box from the pc .
now hook your box up to your dish and your tv , the next step is the setup which is easy you just follow the onscreen prompts like tv type =pal and time settings = london, dublin , for the sky satellite you need to scan astra/eurobird 28.4 east . this bit should take about 5 nminutes. and now you should have all free to air channels on your box .
now connect your box to your broadband router via an ethernet cable and press menu on the dm500s remote ,now press 6 (setup) now go to expert settings ,now go to communication setup . enable dhcp (when its enabled it will have a green tick on it ) and make sure that enable network is enabled ,now press green to save and exit back to tv channels .
(you can also do this wirelessly using a device such as homeplugs ) your router should display a light to indicate that an ethernet cable is attached and you should see a little light inside the dm500s through the vents at the top, near where the ethernet cable is connected to the box . if you see neither lights plug out both box and router ,now plug in the box first and let it boot up and then plug in the router ,you should have lights now .
now you have to install cccam in you box ,so you press the yellow button on your remote ,and press the yellow button again to enter nabilosat addons download manager , press ok on nabilo image cams , now scroll down the page untill you see cccam 2.1.3 complete highlighted in red and press ok button on your remote ,you will get two prompts on screen asking if you want to install cccam and install addon you say yes both times .you now have cccam installed so exit back to tv channels and press the blue button on your remote and use the right arrow button to set cccam 2.1.3 as your default cam and press ok on your remote ,now press exit back to tv channels . you are now ready to go to the next stage which is entering c lines which i will go in to in post number 2.
(a slight change to my tutorial )to download nabilosat images or any other image ,and to download dream up and dream control center click on the first 3 links in my signature area .
I have this setup on my dreambox. Use to receive share tv. But person use to share have disconnect. Anyone willing to share? Will giva it ago just need serva ip address and gateway number.

I have been trying to get a external share working but have tried everything and still cant get it to work. This is what i have done so far.
i have two dm500's
internet with virgin media
linsys router
single lnb connection.
i flashed the boxes with nabilo darkstar2 installed Cccam2.1.3 scanned all channels.
box 1 is the server
entered F line, boxkey to get sub channels and deleted # for these lines and the serverlisten port 12000. Gave this box a fixed ip address (eg 192.168.4.3)
F:host pass1
logged into router created a port forward rule for the fixed ip of server box and ports 12000 on tcp and udp.
Created a Dyndns account whatever.dyndns.org host with ip. Entered the site and managed host where it says ip address entered the ip address of server box that is on my network (eg 192.168.4.3)downloaded the updater onto local pc that has a fixed ip address aswell.
box2 is the Client box entered C line.
C:whatever.dyndns.org 12000 host pass1
Removed # from start of Cline and from server listenport line.
I have had this working for one day then from that day i get no Sub channels.
i have checked everything many times now. I thought the problem was with my router as it wouldn't fix ip any pc if they were within the DCHP reservations table. I figured that out and gave the server box a ip address out side the dchp reservations table. but still did not work also have tried today a totally different router but to no success.
im really stuck on this now.
