After checking everything many times i finally got this working and boy what a relief that is thanks to pat and fin and anyone else who helped me.

I've been out all day get back and the kids have been on the box basically when I change channels I get two parts of the OSD one at bottom and one at top where before it was just along the bottom I've tried everything but can't get it to the single OSD.

Did you change image on the box, think I remember PLI-Jade OSD was like that. Take a look in osd settings or expert set-up see if you can change it. You could always lessen OSD timer in
settings.

Hi There
I have two Dream 500S working on cline shared from a friend living about 15 miles away but it freezes occaisionally and then can stop and I need hime ot reset his box from home bit he works late and it can take a long time to fix. I would like to get an alternative cline source and tried a web site billosat*** but they are useless and keeps freezing I thought initially it might be my broadband supplier and have changed to 15mb UPC and no joy it still freezes. Is there any reliable cline internet source out there that someone can vouch for?

i would think if his box has to be reset the problem is with his setup and not yours ,i assume he has his own card and he gives you a c line which you reshare to the second dm500s .if he has his own card there shouldnt be any real problems with picture freezing unless he has gone overboard with shares ,if he only has a few shares the issue may be your dish (check the signal levels ) a dm500 should have an snr of about 92% and agc about the same ber should be 0%. as for your mate having to reboot his box he really shouldnt need to do that,he should get an auto reboot script which will reboot the box at a specific time .using online payservers wont fix your freezing issues if it is your dish at fault )in fact with the level of shares they have chances are your freezing will get worse ) also if you buy a share on line you wont be able to reshare to your second dm500,you would have to buy a second share for your other box.

Hi thanks for your reply I checked the SNR its 95% as is the AGC and the BER is 0 so I suspect the dish is ok. I forgot to say the Eircom exchange where my mate lives has been flakey and has caused allot of problems in that region but even with that I still feel there is something wrong with his box. I'll ask him if there is a reboot script built in that could help. He shares out to 3 boxes from his own card I think that's within limits and the hops are short just 1.
I think the online cline are a wast of time from what I have seen and herd.

sharing your card with 3 boxes is well within the limits as you say and should be freeze free, nabilo images have nabilo schedular which can be accessed ia the blue button but i dont know about other images.the big online sites that sell c lines and plug and play boxes with c lines already in them should be avoided at all costs as they often close down without any notice and reappear under another name (in which case you have done your money and lost your channels)im not a lover of payservers as a rule but if you must use one then use one from a forum that comes recommended.

the reezing is most likely because he has not updated his dyndnsip and as such you lose access to his system and your picture freezes. He needs to either get a static IP or use a reliable version of Inadyn to update his IP address on a very regular basis

Hi Guys,
So im sitting here in another house with my dm500s c line box plugged into a Cisco epc 2425 (c.horus) router. It is connected to the internet as i dl'ed some small software using the menu onscreen

I managed to turn off the firewall eventually on the router. Its not easy to log in to...
So anyway my client dm500s has a dyndns name as its ip, and this was working fine when both boxes were on the same lan

Now my f line dm500s is working away in another house and is connected to the internet

As i say all of this was working fine when on the same lan.

But im not getting anything from my client box

Any idea's what to do next?

Edit - do i need to portforward on my client box or anything?

if both boxes were in your house originaly (internal sharing )in order for the box to work in another house (external sharing )you will need to open a port (on your router)then go to dyndns.com open an account and create a dyndns hostname and download and install the updater on your pc.

I have done that. When i say i had them sharing internally, i mean they were on the same lan but the cline of my client box had a dyndns.tv ip on it. I had port 12000 open on my router and portforwarded to my server/fline box.

So it was emulating external sharing as much as possible right?

Thanks for the help!!

im not sure im understanding you correctly here but you say you have opened a port and you have created a dyndns host name ,but your saying your server box (the box with the f line )is in another house (a house other than yours ?)what ever house its in it will need to have a port open on the router its connected to . and for the box (with the c line) thats connected to the cisco router the routers firewall should only need to be set at low .check if the port is open on this link to port tool
http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html
where you see host and port type in your dyndns hostname and the port you opened and click on send ,if it comes back saying timed out either your port is not open or the firewall on the router that the server box is connected to is to high set it to low.

What i did was:
I got both my f and c line boxes working on a lan, but the cline had a dyndns ip and not a local 192.169 etc ip in. My router had a 12000 port forwarded to my f line box.

Then i took the c line box to another house, switched off the firewall and assumed it would work as before. It didnt.

Any idea's why?
My fline box still has its ports forwarded etc, and my c line box still has the same dyndns.org ip

Im now sitting in the house with the cline box, and i tried using your link to test my connection to xxx.dyndns.tv:12000
It timed out.
What does this mean?

the f line boxes ip - 192.168.1.15
Yes i have used the updated. Its set to update on startup on a pc in the fline house, which is usually turned on every day.

As i say all the dyndns stuff and port forwarding was already working, just the 2 boxes were on the same lan. Now the cline box is on a different lan, but it still has the same cline with xxx.dyndns.tv in it

Yes,its always been 192.169.1.15 and my router is a netopia 2247 - standard eircon router. I have portforwarded my f line box and opened 12000.

As i say all of this is alredy working, just with my cline box on the same lan as my fline box. My cline bax was still searching the net for xxx.dyndns.tv and then coming back into my lan through an open 12000 port.
What is changed now is my cline box is no longer on the same lan as my fline box.
Its now hooked to a cisco chorus router on which the firewall is turned off.

Still no channels though :(

im gonna take the plunge and buy a dreambox .
im in ireland nthell area of dublin.
gonna get the basic dreambox first and will most likely get one of the better hd ones after.
what exactly should I buy. dm500s ?
should i buy a lan monoblock for dish so i can run 2 boxes from it ?
what size dish would be the minimum- im thinking a good dish for the longterm- maybe a motorized dish.- does it matter ?

thanks a million in advance guys- sorry if this has been asked before- im just square eyed looking at threads at this stage !!!!

What do you want to do Chip7?

If you already have a Sly subscription and want to share it, then you'll need 2xdm500s, 2xsatellite dishes, and 2xinternet connections

Ok so Guys, strange problem.

I've my 2 boxes on one lan.
When i have Cline of 192.168.1.15 (my fline box ip), then both boxes work fine :)

Now i try dyndns update and it says my ip is synch'ed to xxx.dyndns.tv
Then i try this link http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html and it says my port is open if i use my actual ip number 86.xxx.xxx.xxx.
But if i use my text ip xxx.dyndns.tv then the port checker says it is not open.
This is even though dyndns updater says that my ip is synched to my dns account

So something is def up with my dyndns account

Also i've tried just using my ip number address in my cline, but to no avail. I know ip addresses change often but i've tried in a period of time that i know my external ip hsant changed...

Any idea's?
Definitely a dyndns problem though right?
