Just to clarify Naz, by ext.share do you mean each box has it's own sat. dish. Pio or Fint
would be the men to advise on router settings

inadyn is available on nabillo images by pressing the blue button on your remote control ,and then pressing the blue button again .then you simply set the update time (say 10 minutes) and then you see username and password (these are the username and password you set when opening your dyndns account )then you see alias (here you would type in your dyndns hostname ) then press green to start inadyn .other people may be able to post instructions for using inadyn on other images.

I have today setup everything on my router with a static ip address so i dont get any ip conflicts. The DM500 server has a static ip address aswell which is also reserved for the dm500

Used the open port tool get two results if i try the external ip address of my network with port 12000 it says it is open

if i try it with the Dyndns name it times out and reports back as the ports not open. I have double checked my Dyndns account and the account is setup as a Host with IP address that has the same ip address as the DM500 server box on my network.

If i type the dyndns name in my web browser it gets me to the DM500 web utility.

if the dyndns host name (when put into port tool)along with the port number is timing out it usually means either the port is still not opened on the router or perhaps the routers firewall is blocking the connection ,or both. try lowering the firewall level on the router ,failing that i can only say to go back and check the settings you used to open the port .i know it can be frustrating mate ,i couldnt get my boxes to share(internally) for love nor money when i started and i went back over every setting i had more times than i can remember and nothing worked untill someone asked me to check the mac addresses on both boxes (they were the same and were conflicting with each other) i changed one mac address and the boxes worked imediatley . so my settings were correct all along it was an unforseen problem .i also had a problem with external sharing (my mates box kept freezing severely) i tried everything i could think of and nothing worked untill i noticed when my pc was switched off his box worked fine .the answer was his box even tho it was in another house was on my network (i know that sounds strange but its true) so his router would assign his box an ip address (and my pc had the same ip address ) so i changed my pc ip address and hey presto .as it is now i had to set his box a static ip also to ensure it doesnt clash with anything on my network. so im just saying go back over each and everything as many times as it takes ,it could be something very small but enough to stop you sharing and i know its easy to say but be patient its the best way.

Ok - im going to start at this again tomorrow.
I have 2 dm500s, an eircom router and satellite dish in one house,
a chorus router and satellite dish in another house.

Has anyone had any problems with cards burning up in dm500s?

Im wondering about the box itself. What are the other options apart from a dm500s?
Id love to go with a vu+ duo but i dont know if i could justify the expense...

a sly card will work perfectly in a dm500s and wont get any hotter than it does in a sly box .

jhammer if the box worked yesterday its likely its not connecting to the internet ,try switching off and unplugging both the box and the router and then disconnecting the ethernet cable from both box and router . now reconnect the ethernet cable to both box and router (ensure the cable is connected properly )now plug in and switch on the box and go to a free channel ,then plug in and switch on the router (wait about 20 seconds and try a pay channel. you could also try changing the ethernet cable.

Hurray!
Thanks Piopat.
Step 1 is complete.
I can now use my DM500s instead of my sly box.
Tomorrow i will setup a second dm500s internally, and maybe even go externally!

A few last q's tonight.
What is the best way to change the channel listings on a dm500s so it matches the skybox?
Can i manually edit bouqets and send them via ftp?

Thanks again,

Edit---------
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2010/06/20/how-to-sort-and-move-programme-channel-lists-in-dreambox-dm500s/
This works well but its all manual with the remote. There must be a text file somewhere in the dm500s that could be edited to set
RTE1 as 101
RTE2 as 102
...
...
Sly Sports 1 as 401
etc

Any idea's anyone?

Edit bouquets & save on desktop as channs.xml or save them using Dream control centre

Is there a 'direct' button on the dm500s to get to bouquets?
There isnt on my image i think which is off-putting for solely going down the route of bouquets.
I would like to have all my channel numbers in the order the same as the sly box.
Possible?
Thanks

Press OK on any channel & colour button options should appear on screen, usually red for bouquet
Is Create bouquet option in services organising. Create bouquet & see what button accesses it.
Channels scan in alphabetically & are numbered in that order. You can have them in any order you wish in bouquets but they will be numbered 1,2,3,etc in each bouquet or else carry their
scan no.,depending on image. If image is problem you might try Pli, or DK image

Can this be done by editing a file on the dm500s?
Thanks

if you look around the net you can get a bouquet with channels numbered as they are on a sky box then you just have to pop the files in to the box using dream control center, you can also create your own bouquets using your remote control .you should also download and install dreambox edit ,this is a usefull tool which you can use to edit and create bouquets plus it can be used to give you the interactive sports channels that you get via the red button on the sky box .i dont know what image your using but if its nabillosat darkstar2 to view your bouquets you press the ok button to bring up the channel list and at the top of the screen you will see red (all services) green (satellites)yellow (providers) blue (bouquets) so press blue and you will see your bouquets .

Thanks Pio,
Im using PLI jade and having no luck so far.
I dl'ed dreamboxedit and attempted to upload a sky uk bouquet i dl'ed that looked good.
I dont think im sending the bouquet to the correct place though.
Any idea's where it should go on Jade?
I've created a bouquet manually, so im just going to search every folder now to find it and hopefully then figure out how to create my own custom one...
It should be as simple as edit a text file then ftp that to the correct place?

Ok so it looks like Jade put the bouquets into
/var_flash/tuxbox/config/enigma

So i loaded this one
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f39/dm500s-bouquets-85866/#post558354

Its the official UK one - so all i need to add is rte1,2,tv3,tg4,3e?
Now it still doesnt solve the problem of RTE1 being on 101, etc
Any idea's how to do that?

Also some channels are duplicated, how can i get rid of multiple channels bar manually wiht the remote?
Any the odd channel has no pic, and some have no sound. I presume this is a settings issue?
MTV+1 and a few others have no sound. Any ideas?
Thanks

Ok here's what we have...
All done internally.
Both boxes work separately with the card inserted into the respectively.

But I can't get a box to work as a client.

I have my server ip as 192.168.1.15, client as 192.168.1.14
My eircom router is 192.168.1.254 and this is entered into box boxes as the Gateway. This much must obviously work as i can ftp to both using my laptop wirelessly using cuteftp

Now my F line is on my 15 box and looks like:
F:192.168.1.14 12000 share1 bedroom1 (This box has the sly card in it)

My C line is on my 14 box and looks like:
C:192.168.1.15 12000 share1 bedroom1 (This box has no card)

Bothfiles have the same boxkey as generated by the create ccam.cfg file.
Both Cccam.cfg files are in /var/etc
Im running PLI Jade

Any help?
Thanks!

hi try searching for a program called dreamset i use that all the time on jade pli also works on all the other images there you can edit the channel numbers and remove any unwanted ones also so the duplicates dont come back you need to disable background scanning which is located in menu/opt6/opt2
