If you are using a 9pin male serial port (and not USB adapter\USB port)on the computer to connect to, then as long as you are following the procedure it should be no problem at all.
It should be a matter of connecting the NULL modem cable up, rebooting the PC,open loader up and select the firmware file, switching off the Kryptview with switch at the back. pressing START,and quickly switching the Kryptview back on with switch at the back.
Are you sure you are using a NULL Modem cable, and not a normal RS232 cable ( they are identical to look at).

If it was sent with the box, then it will be the right cable so do not buy another one.
The firmware and downtool you need are here.
You should be able to just follow the process I have just posted above (leaving the default COM1 setting in the downtool). I cant help thinking the box is OK, and we are doing something silly wrong. I will have a think and let you know if I think of something jabal07.

just got one of these boxes for my mum, she is getting virgin broadband installed soon, she is not subscribing to cable tv, also she is not really bothered about going on the internet, so would the cable signal be strong enough to receive channels on kryptview if she doesnt use a laptop on the internet?, thanks

The box must be connected to your cable feed and the net via ethernet to your router 24/7 otherwise you will not be able to view channels

well if she aint paying a sub for tv, the signal will be lower and will cause probs with it, if you get a basic sub from them then the signal will be at the correct levels, if you split the BBand for TV, expect probs

good stuff, but it dont always work out like that for everyone, a lot of folks have issues with signal levels as they dont have enough signal to run the box correctly when they pay for bband only and split the cables, so you can take a chance it will work, but there is a good chance it wont, depends on the area, the signal to your house, your cabling (if its bad, it reduces the signal) etc, so if you get a box and have issues with the picture etc, if the signal is low, dont be surprised with the end result,

yeah me too but like he says thats just luck. not to sure if they do is still but when ya signed up to virgin they gave you 2 lines one for bb and one fot tv ( all channels free for a month, if you didnt want the tv they switched all the channels off and left you with freeview channels, so you would still have your 2 lines with no need to split) if that makes sense

you need to peel the big black sticker off the back, near the on\off switch.
