Looks like you guys had quite a day. I just arrived home after a less than exciting after hours meeting at work only to find you guys having an online party. Glad brobear finally is on board.

Hmm! Is it just be or is bigo doing more daytime posting?

I was thinking along the lines of a general problem where slower HDs were causing the problems rather than just multiple HDs causing problems.

I use a smaller SCSI drive for the OS and 2 7200 rpm drives for the source and destination. I'm not figuring anyone would have problem a problem doing the same but I don't see much slowdown in using one big fast hard drive.
Using the extra drive for the OS is nice for remote controlling without bugging the encoding so I can kep track.

If I'm following you here, I've not had any slowdown problems by using just one large drive ... with the exception of Remake. It is faster to export the ripped files to another drive.

I began thinking that what might have been occurring is something along the lines of a Semaphore timeout, where the problem with RB/CCE was actually preceded by the slowing of the file transfer by his hardware.

The DMA settings for a CDROM are much slower than they are for a hard disk (DMA 2 versus DMA 5), by having them on the same IDE channel you force the faster of the two to default to the slower one. there's nothing wrong with it except that your hard disk will like take a performance hit.

Hey, i have a question on the error #0004, when ever i take out pieces of the menu, such as the scene selection, i also make sure and "hide" the buttons that lead to what i took out of the movie, but, when i put it through RB/CCE i get an Error #0004 when its in the last part of the Encode phase.

Pop

I've had similar problems using DVDremake and encoding with RB/CCE too (just one coaster the damnable DareDevil). Most 1 click transoders don't seem to have a problem with it but RB does. There's really no one answer to the question because every movie has its own structure. Just be careful with what you take out, it might be needed somewhere else in the movie.

The 0003 and 0004 error may be less likely on version 0.57... I tweaked it a little to try and make it more compatible with "preprocessing" -- but (caviat) I still suggest that all use the pristine source.

When do you expect to release 0.57? Many of the .0003 and .0004 errors that have been solved seem to have different causes which makes it hard to provide a single solution to them. Since I've never experienced them myself but it does seem to make sense to keep the setup simple "pristine," and to the point.

bigo

It could be but I haven't seen a link for it yet and it hasn't been announced at doom9 so if it'st out I probably missed it. I've never had a problem with any of the RB versions so I'm probably a little less wary. When I see those .0003 or 0004 numbers I might change my mind.

Sophocles...Thanks. I added this to to the No. 8 #0003 answer "It is also highly recommended to configure hard drives on the first IDE channel, and DVD Drives on the second IDE channel." 'Sound about right?

Also, congrats on figuring out brobear's buffer problem.

Pop_Smith ... I have a couple of questions. What are you using for editing S/W, and just exactly where do you get the #0003 error? You say near the end of encoding, which is step 2. Are you sure it isn't at the very beginning of the rebuild phase - step 3?

hey Pop, long time no see. Glad to see you are getting there with RB/CCE, seems everyone stumbles a little before they get it working.

I gotta agree with doc, everyone I've talked to including me has gotten those errors(0003,0004) in the rebuild phase, not the CCE or the 2nd phase.

Sounds about right.

doc, if you'll notice I've been posting all day, thank you very much.

It is rather hard to sleep right now, I am a little nervous about Saturday, in fact, you could say I'm nervous as HELL!

We got oodles of talent, but they are just so young!

BTW, did you notice we dropped in the polls without anyone even playing a game? How, praytell does one do that? I hate the BCS! Playoffs are the only way to determine a true champion. It's done in every other major sport but Division 1 college football.

Actually, I did notice you were online earlier today ... and thought you might've caught a cat nap so you could watch the sun come up this morning.

Yeah, I don't know how those polls work. Maybe someone saw Vanderbilt and La Tech on your schedule, and it pulled the Vols down. (BTW, I did my Freshman year at La Tech when Bradshaw was a Junior. He was awesome.)

I downloaded Rebuilder 0.57 and copied my .ini file from the old folder to the new one, and now i get a CCE Error of "Frame Size 996x56 is not supported, supported is upto 720x576"??

Doc409, I am using DVD ReMake Pro 2.2.0. and it seems that everytime i remove something and export the files, RB gives me a "Buffer Overflow #0004 error"

I did try and find/hide all the stuff that linked to what i hid (i.e. the Sound and Video Option Link on the menu, and what it linked too) I even had the DVD sitting next to me in my Laptop watching it and clicking on the stuff to make sure i hid everything the links led too.

I should have asked ... what version of CCE are you using? I thought I saw it somewhere, but can't find it.

Also, I would suggest you upgrade Remake Pro to the latest version. My understanding is that they did some work in the later revisions to reduce these types of errors.

Pop, have you tried it without remake yet to see if it worked? I know I had to get RB/CCE working 1st then work on remake.

Doc- that's the only 2 easy ones on our schedule. We have Florida, Notre Dame, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and Miami. One of the toughest schedules in the country. Besides, they are not taking into account strength of schedule this year.
