Go to Recovery Menu
then Configuration
then for UMD Mode select "sony np9660 No umd mode"

btw GatorKev, I just saw that you are deployed overseas and I want to give you my thanks for your service. My son too is deployed overseas (Okinawa Japan)

Also I got it working, I guess the 2 CSO's I was trying just didn't cut it. Anyways great help guide with easy to use instructions! Thanks to everyone who helped, your knowledge is awesome.

also ... if ur game lags, add the fatsmods patch or change the UMD MODE to M33

Hi, i am currently running firmware 3.03 OE-C firmware, its quite old but is this new firmware worth the upgrade? and if so should i just follow the guide for 1.50/SE/OE/LE to 3.52 M33-4? thanks

I dont know why i keep getting this error WHEN I TRY TO UPGRADE :
The system configuration of this PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be completed. Contact technical support for assistance. ( DRNFFFFFFBO)
i've tried to upgrade my PSP from version 3.80m33-5 to 3.90m33-5 for a long time already and EVERYTIME without fail i get this error. I follow every step carefully and it still comes out. Could someone help me with this? Thanks.
P.S. sorry for the mistake. I hope the willy chilly thing helps this problem?

Well thats definately made me not want to bother upgrading the OE firmware i have now hasnt ever given me any problems. are these error messages likley if i upgrade? and what are the benefits of upgrading to this firmware?

Download Chilly Willy Key Cleaner from HERE. Then unpatch key 5 and try updating again.

Great guide,thank you. I succesfully updated from 3.85 M33-5 to 3.90 M33-2. My question now is it safe to delete the rest of the upgrade icons from the memory stick, or should I go to the PSP folder and delete things from there?

If you go back a few pages and look at some posts by myself u should get the jist off it.... also look on exophase.com in keycleaner..

I have a few questions first I have a fat with 2.0 on it witch has never been touch. The first thing I need to due is downgrade to 1.5 then I like to get to latest firm ware.
1. after doing the downgrade and the upgrade do I need to keep any thing on my mem stick?
2. I also have a fat with 3.50 on it and I have Lumines but if I make a
Pandora battery could I still use the battery on my other psp or is now only use for what it was made for?

I would upgrade the 2.0 psp to 2.71 then downgrade to 1.50 using the 2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86) or -2.71 PSP downgrader which you can find HERE (Make sure you use the proper downgrader that corresponds with your motherboard). After you have downgraded to 1.50 use this guide to update to 3.52 M33 or above. After you have updated to the custom firmware you want you can then format the Memory Stick (nothing needs to be saved).
After the above has been accomplished and you have installed custom firmware to the above PSP use this guide HERE to create a Magic Memory Stick and Pandora Battery and use it to install custom firmware to your 3.50 PSP. This would be the safest and easiest option rather then using Lumines to downgrade the 3.50 PSP. After you have updated to whatever custom firmware you want on the 3.50 PSP make sure you recover the Pandora Battery to Normal Battery then format the memory stick (nothing needs to be saved).

Download the 2.71 EBOOT.PBP update HERE.
Now create a new folder called UPDATE and place the 2.71 EBOOT.PBP file into it and transfer it to your PSP/GAME folder (Make sure the above file is named EBOOT.PBP).
Then run the update via Game Menu memory Stick.

OK now for the down grade to 1.5 on the link you gave me it shows one for 2.71 for TA-82 or TA-86 but I have a TA-81 so do I use the that is lable Spoiler for 2.71 PSP Guide?
The up grade went fine thanks

So, im not going to lie
as straight up as that thing is supposed to be easy
and hell it really looked so
it took me almost 1/2 and hour of reading posts...just to
be realived when i could go threw the user end agreement
unless im blind, and completly missed it...shouldn't that be in there
cuz i was scared shitless...i didnt want to update to sonys 3.90.
anyways...i got it to 3.90 M33...
but one thing bothered me... when i unpacked the rar
and then up the folders in n stuff
i went to memory card...and then to mux, to update to 3.90 M33
when i go back to the xmb, and then to mem card
there is only 3.90 M33 update..thats it
theres no 3.71, 3.80, or 3.90M33-2
is there something sketchy that im missing out on?
the other thing that is semi-bothering me...
is i REALLYY want to play patapon
and i downloaded both the fullgame iso, and the demo iso(which i assume to be free and not illegal?)
and both iso's only get to the loading stage..and just hang forever
someone said to update to 3.90 M33-3, and thats why i decided to upgrade - which sadly has taking me over 5 hours now-
but ...now that im at 3.90... do i really need to go to M33-3?
cuz..the game still hangs at that loading screen....
sorry for the millions of questions in one post...i just dont like posting a million times if i dont have to

Only 1 firmware update will be listed under Game Menu Memory Stick at a time. That is why none of the other updates are listed. You get the other updates by running MUX and selecting the update version you want.
If you want to install 3.90 M33-2 update you will need to run MUX again and choose it in the list. Once you do that 3.90 M33 will be replaced with 3.90 M33-2 in the Game Menu Memory Stick.
If your having issues running a game go HERE and follow this guide to try getting them working properly.
