Quote: In a recent interview Sony Computer Entertainment America bos,Kaz Hirai claimed that it was Microsoft who were actually copying their PS3 strategy, he said, "Every time we go down a path, we look behind and they're right there (Microsoft) - we just can't shake these guys. I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do. If you look at their strategy in other business areas as well, they tend to do that...
hah wow...this isn't like history repeating itself or anything..not like back in the good ole days with our buddies bill gates and steve jobs..no not at all. hah!

being a 'follower' has always been the easy way out, and none of these companies are innocent. they all take idears from one another, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. i still think sony has the best overall position. they seemed to take the time needed for them to adjust and better prepare themselves for what seems to be yet again a very successful system.
i think the tilt function is going to be a success and incorporated into more games than originally expected. the only downsides to the ps3 for me was when they announced the redesign of the controller(only because it would've been nice to have something different, but thats how i am), and the dual packages available. the price doesn't and IMO shouldn't bother people as much as it did when announced, simply because they always said it was going to be expensive. many of the "analysts" were saying it would cost some $700 or more which is not the case. not to mention with all the features offered and the incorporation of Blu-ray, the ps3 will fair quite well in years to come

but of course, that's buisness. and in a way it is a good thing because it delievers us consumers the best, high perfomance, multi-usage and valuable next-gen console based and orginated off of so many people's ideas.
normally i would agree with you on the controller and about it being something "new", but the boomarang controller wasn't working out for me..it turned me off from the ps3, and the ps2's controller was perfect and worked perfectly so im glad they're keeping it.

the traditional controller design will work just fine, but i was hoping for something a little different....
anyway not sure if most know, but sony has updated their PS3 section on their site. the site now has more tabs for information which are; "about, games, specs, gallery."

i hope the controller is scaled just a little bigger.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

thats link let me know a few things. one being there will be a ps1/2 memory card adapter fro your ps3. then you copy to a "vitual memory card" and it emulates that card for games.

just because that feature is available doesn't mean you have to use it. just don't transfer your saved games and start fresh and new on all your old favs just like you said you wanted to :)

Unless you did some unbeleiveably great stuff that you doubt you'll ever be able to repeat in which you'll want all those old saves.
I have all of my saves backed up to cd and on my HDD waiting

It's rather funner because as things unravel it's like "I hate to say I told you so" to all the "you know what" fanboys.
Can't wait, the more they have in stock the more sales will fly at launch.Even if there was 4 million for the US they will still sell out. From what Ive seen the software side is ahead of schedule as well...

that good to hear. hopefully things wont turn drastic and out of all the stock comming from
the factory, say 60% did not have a certain circuit soldered correctly and they had to be
trashed because the system would crash. thats enought to damage anything permanantly.
if that happened, asustek or w/e would get so pwnt from sony its not even funny..
hey tycobb, i made a new thread, post in it.

If the PS3 cannot sell (i know we worry, and then $ony abandons Blu-ray within a few short years) there is an answer. You can read my long message http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/376778 or I sup it up. Downgrade the Blu-ray to DVD player. Brilliant idea if the sales suck those first few months, $ony has put themselves in a bad situation with the high hardware cost. That only leave two options: sell the PS3 so low they lose $$$ for years OR downgrade the hardware.
Let us hope they keep their head cool & don't end up with another UMD movie disaster on their hands :(

Thought this was cool, the guy said he's really enjoyin the space of the Blu-ray. an really relevant considerin the last post
IGN: With all the extra space that Blu-ray provides, can we expect additional content beyond the game? Individual episodes, anime, etc?
Inagaki: We're not quite ready to discuss this. However, I will say that we're enjoying the extra space.

that would be a positive for all the space. you could have movies and videos with a game accessable from the games menu.
