This is the correct price in Canadian dollars. The launch price in the US was 299.99 so hade is correct.

Well I could have swore that I paid $399.00 for my Xbox, I'm not saying I'm right though. But my main point in that post was that he could have been a little more (Calm and Quiet, Peaceful) about it.

Quote: I don't want to argue or anything but, dude get your facts straight before going off and dissing somebody, the Xbox was $399.00 at release. And I'm pretty sure he ment that people were alot more familliar with the PS2 becuse of the PS1, and that Microsoft had never released a gaming console before. Oh yea I could say somthing about your last comment....."I give you an A for effort", I give you an A for something else but I don't feel like going there becuse I don't feel like getting banned.
next time take your own advice and you won't have to eat your own words. he quoted something from my post, twisted what i said "do not say graphics dont matter at all," and followed that up with some bogus info. not to mention the post was addressing him, but all and all seems fair. trust me i wouldnt put what was typed if i hadn't double checked the info, im not silly. forum rules, try reading rule number 12....
@TY what media bar are you talking about??

never really got into wrestling let alone video games of the type, but sure there are many who may not know as WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 is being pushed back. originally people were saying the game was cancelled all together because the ps3 logo was removed from the site for the game...

Quote: Consistent with our goal of delivering the highest quality content across all next-gen platforms, we have decided to postpone the debut of the Smackdown series on PlayStation 3 until the holiday 2007 timeframe," a THQ rep told GameSpot. Luckily, only the PS3 version was affected by the delay, and the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PSP versions remain on schedule for a November 2006 release.

Im guessing they delayed it because it could of been much better. By the looks of it on the PSM mag several months ago it wasnt that spectacular. I think its best that they delayed it than to rush it out and having it be just a relly smooth and nice version of the PS2's smackdown.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

Hade, I'm really sorry about that. It was really late when I posted that and I was extreamly tired, so I got some stuff mixed up. So thats my bad on my last post, I think we should start over and I'll be cool this time.
I think all the media capabillities of the PS3 is going to be incredible. I'm glad they finally came out with a console that you can actaully use like a computer/media center and not have to mod it.

water under the bridge.....on another note, i found this to be pretty surprising. it talks about downsizing E3, guess things went south when they got rid of the booth babes...
Quote: One reason behind the downsizing of the show can be attributed to the dollar cost of the event to exhibitors, including the demands on companies to assign large numbers of staff to focus on the show, expenses associated with travel to the show, and the added expense to polish game builds and demos to be shown to attendees.

I was never crazy about E3 anyways with the exception of when new hardware comes out.I mean we'll see the trailers from games anyways on game sites so it's not really that exciting to me unless a new round of consoles or handhelds is coming out.

e3 only matters for games and hardware there really nothing else there that i care for.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

ahaha i've pointed this out mnay a time. i think they know it too.
Quote: In a recent interview Sony Computer Entertainment America bos,Kaz Hirai claimed that it was Microsoft who were actually copying their PS3 strategy, he said, "Every time we go down a path, we look behind and they're right there (Microsoft) - we just can't shake these guys. I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do. If you look at their strategy in other business areas as well, they tend to do that...

hey guys wanna see something funny?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Pippin i've showed some of you before.
but thats not the funny part, read this quote..
Quote: Costing US$599 on launch, and touted as a cheap computer, the system, in reality, was commonly identified as a video-game console. As such, its price was considered too expensive in comparison to its contemporaries
kinda sounds like an article taken from a grim future does it? ahaha. maybe sony needs to take some advice from apple.

History doesnt often repeat itself.
I remember when xbox came out people were calling it Microsoft's saturn. They said in this gen xbox would end up like saturn, GC would be like the N64 and PS2 would do just as well as the PSX.
Well i guess something to repeat

but now you gotta switch some things. 599 back then was about 999 now thanks to a wonderful president who does his job well. (please note my sarcasm)
the ps3 is cheaper by a good deal, but nonetheless the pippin was based around the same things the ps3 was and it bombed so hardcore. but the ps name is so well known and respeted now, that they might pull it off well.

In addition the industry has matured more since then and is now willing to accept more pc features in consoles.
At the time apples name was in the dirt and the company was going down.
Even though they released through Bandai it still didn't matter there wasn't a console makers name to back it. Before someone says xbox didn't have a console maker behind it remember Microsoft is one of the biggest publishers of PC games so that helped a lot. MS was a gaming co. long before xbox. Apple not really

The president doesn't have that huge of an influence over how well the economy does. Especially nowadays, being a world economy.
also: isn't there some old proverb (or universal truth) that says something like "If you don't know History, you're bound to repeat it"?
