I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SET UP ON THE CDR TO WORK IN MY PS2. CAN I ACTUALLY JUST BURN THE ROMS AND THE EMULATOR IN RANDOM FORMAT ONTO A CD-R AND EXPECT IT TO WORK?

no you cant do any thing randomly and expect it to work. there's a method to everything. and you have to read the forums to find the answers.

now go do a search for something specific, and spend one hour reading. and i hope you find something.

Hi, first post....very very new to this

I am trying to set up various emulators. I have
scph50003 ps2
200gb maxtor hdd
hdadvance 3.0
mc exploit

I have managed to install the exploit..eventually..and get the emulators running. My problem is getting the roms to work.

I have read through the thread and I am aware that snes roms can't be used from the hdd so i am trying to access them from a cd-r. snes-station says there are no roms on the disc. i assume that this is because my ps2 is un-modded?

My question is...seeing as launchelf allows you to use the eject button to change discs without restting etc..(i have swapped a couple of of original games around this way to check)...is there any patch or anything that can be applied to swap magic to allow the same??

I am looking for some way to go

Exploit --> launchelf --> some kind of swap utility allowing eject to be pressed

Obviously the eject button can be used without resetting anything as i have managed it in launchelf file browser

Or...

Is there a homebrew equivalent to swap magic?

Thanks for any help... this thread was very useful in helping me install the exploit

Can anyone tell me the proper method of getting Infones hd to run on my hard drive? Ive searched everywhere and havent been able to find anything that helps. I have launchelf and a usb drive to use and i already have a partition created with 150+ games on my hard drive. Pgen runs great for me, but when i try to load infones its just a black screen.

Edit: NVM,figured it out on my own

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if what I think I know about ps2's and swap discs is correct??

As I understand it:-

1) there is extra data before the usual data track on a ps2 disc. This is not copiable using normal dvd burners as they don't burn to the correct part of the disc.

2) discs like swap magic which are printed rather than burnt have this data which allows them to be booted.

3) this data needs to be loaded to a certain are of memory in the ps2, the location of which is obviously known, hence swap magig and the likes of cogswaplauncher are around.

My query is...is there any way to incorporate this into a .ELF file with the following plan in mind

1. boot using exploit into launchelf
2. swap the disc for a dvd-r/cd-r using the eject button at this point
3. load some sort of cogswap as described above which would think there was an original disc in the tray

this would surely allow the use of burned discs with an unmodded ps2

i am sure i am not the first to think of this idea but have not seen it suggested anywhere in any thread i have read...surely worth investigation

My sis has her XBox rigged to use emulators. I have a PS2 and don't really feel like buying an XBox. Can someone tell me how I can make my PS2 compatible with emulators? And can an average jane set it up or would I need help from a techie?

Well man, the only way you will be able to LOAD any Disks (DVD/CD), you will have to have either a Chip, or a FlipTop or Use Slide Card method! Other than that, their is no other way! Anybody can correct me if i'm wrong.

Do you need a cd loader to do all this? My cdloader doesn't work, and the dvdloader won't boot cd roms.

I'm new to this PS2 hard drive thing too. I already have an unmodified PS2, 80 gig hard drive and the network adapter. I'm using WHIIP and already sent game images to the hard drive, (Already reformatted and created a PS2 partition). What I would like to know is there anyway of starting these games with a flash drive alone?

nope, not at all. you'd need a mod chip for somethin like that. you should read up on the independence exploit, and find out how much stuff you can do for free.

info-NES is the name of an emulator. you can put the emulator and roms on your hdd if you have one and it runs the roms that you prob'ly already use on the pc. the sound quality is not great, and some roms will lock the ps2 or just not play well. so turn the sound off and play some music from the stereo.

IMB-NES (it might be NES) is another one, but you have to burn the emu and roms on a CD-R and do some cd swapping to make it work properly. i never tried this because laziness told me that i didnt want to bother with cd swapping.

dreamcast will not be emulated on a PS2. the PS2 just does not have the computer processing power to do so. maybe ps3, but definitely NOT a ps2. someone asked about XboX, and that will never happen either... PS3 maybe, but definitely NOT a PS2. the best you'll get is NES, GB, GBC, maybe GBA and SNES eventually, but with the PS3 coming soon, production on those others may just halt while people work out how to hack/mod a PS3.

DC is emulated on the PC. i think that you jsut hae to have fairly nice stats on your PC though. a friend of mine showed me rival schools 2 being emulated. DC emu on the PC, with RS2 on the pc as an ISO file. i think that's how it was, but i dont remember. it's been a while.

yeah having good equipment should get you good performance. but ps2 will never be powerful enough. the only thing i can recommend for the DC emu on the PC is to google the emu and see what other people use for their settings. that might give you an idea of what you can do for yours.

The only closest way of playing a SNES emulator on PS2 HDD is by using HD Advance. The one I've tested on was version 2.0.

What you need:
-Compatible HDD for PS2
-HD Advance (2.0+)
-CD/DVD burner for computer
-Method for PS2 to read burnt discs (ModChip, or Slide Card)

Make the SNES Station CD (with ROMS) following their instructions exactly, start PS2 with CD-disc of HD Advance, copy SNES Station CD you've created to PS2 HDD, run SNES Station from your hard drive.

IMPORTANT: For unknown reasons, the SNES Station CD must be in the drive in order to access them. Although the entire disc image "is" copied to your HDD, the SNES Station only searches for ROMS in the Disc Drive. So after you've loaded HD Advance, take out the disc and replace it with the SNES Station CD you have created. Then run the SNES Station from your HDD (via HD Advance).

I hope this helped some people.

I think HDD isn't really neccessary to play SNES Station unless you don't have ModChip, I only use HDD to play burnt/copies games. And well...SNES Station CD is burnt.
