Just search on google for help on the emulator if they dont contain a readme or burning info.

hello all im sorry if this question has been asked but i was wonderin if i can play my genesis, nintendo, snes, and NeoGeo games off of my ps2 hd. Not burning them to a cd or anything I mean straight off of the hd with the emulator.

yeah, that was a while back. i figured out the answer months ago. you MUST create a partition for your roms using DMS hdd format tool, and make any sized partition, i think i used 128 or 256 or maybe even 512 (dont remember anymore). i named mine GENRomz

what i did after that was to copy the pgen and roms from the pc onto my USB drive, and bootup the ps2 with launchelf as my loader and usb plugged in. launchelf has a file browser, and i used that to copy and paste the pgen emu and roms from my usb to my hdd. (had a seperate folder for elf files).

now you can run pgen from your usb, and load roms from usb, but what about the hdd? i ran everything from hdd. pgen, and that folder that i made with DMS was visible in pgen. if you make the folder any other way, it wont work right.

it would be quick and easy to make a partition for each set of roms that you plan to have on your hdd. i only have NES, GB, and Genesis. SNES currently doesnt support hdd, so i skipped that one for now.

i just decided to go ahead and make all the necessary partitions at once when i first got started so that way i wouldnt have to keep going back and forth. but i dont think it's necessary to use DMS for the NES and GB roms. i just did it anyway to avoid having to go back and do it all over again.

Here is a tutorial page for PS2 Mame: http://www.richpsx.com/playstation2/utilities/ps2mame.html

I couldn't get it to work because the ORDER of how you drop ur file into CDGen DOES matter. I've wasted 3 cd-r to try to get it to work. I think I am gonna try this order to see if it'll work tonight: System, gamelist, elf file, irx, and roms directory last. Let me if u guys get PS2 Mame method work
(sorry about my grammar, not from us)

i never got mame to work either. i dont know what i did wrong. but instead of burning cdr, i turned the whole thing into an iso file and installed it with winhiip. that might help you to stop wasting cdr's

FINALLY!!!! What the pfs folder comes in use for. And how to upload All non imaged files to HD using FlashFXP. I am VERY NEW to this, and FINALLY set everything up. So, I'll explain this so it is easy to understand. Use DMS Format Tool to partition a portion of the drive that you want to designate for MP3's, AVI's, ROMs, ELF's... Think of it as Organizing your PC and creating folders and setting a MAX filesize for each. DMS Format Tool can be downloaded here http://www.ps2hd.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=54

Once you have created your 2 or 3 folders, connect to your PS2 using FlashFXP. (PS2 must be running ExecFTP) Once connected push "Control R" shortcut to run a RAW command. Now type in "SITE MNT /pfs/0/ hdd:+ROMS" w/o the " ". This will take the ROMS folder and mount it in the pfs/0 directory, go there and you can upload and modify the contents of the folder. When finished, you will need to unmount it. Push "Control R" and this time put "SITE UMNT /pfs/0/" You have now uploaded ROMS to the PS2 HD :-D Took me forever to just get the FTP running and everything. I hope this will help with anyone wanting to upload to the PS2 HD and something besides a bin/cue or iso. GOOD LUCK

Also, my guess as to why a transfer cancels randomly, is because it times out. Push F6 (Or goto Options then Preferences). Now goto the connection tab, and check the box next to "Send noops during transfer" This will prevent a timeout due to a long transfer. :-) I hope this will solve many problems with transferring.

i did all of the file transfers using my USB drive and Launchelf on my ps2.

Pamarey: i got it from www.ps2scene.org and do a search for "infogb-hd". what you should do is check the readme. it basically says that there is not 100% compatible for all games, and sometimes if you turn the sound off, then it plays beter. either that or the infoNES-hd version.

ayamaya: go to www.ps2scene.org and search for "infoNES-hd" and you'll find a hdd compatible nes emulator. i hear that IMBnes works pretty good, but you have to burn it to a cd, and use some method for playing psx backups. i dont have a modchip or methods to swap cd's and stuff so i cant really comment on it.

andersg: NO, there is no point to having a psp emulator when the psp's power can compete with ps2. an emulator like that would take more power than the ps2 has to offer. if you mean psp for the PC, then i dont know where to point you to. sorry.

Hey ppl, I read through this thread and did research. I found a bunch of emulators for the ps2 and i downloaded them. I don't have a mod chip, or a Hd for my ps2. I was wondering if anyone knew if these emulator would work if i used USBeXtreme? Cause i am getting it next week.

what do you consider to be the long way? what method do you use that makes yours short? my method is to copy emu & roms from PC to USB, and then from USB to PS2hdd. is it similar to that?

are you doing the memory card exploit?
what is your loader program?
do you know how to set buttons?
do you have the latest versions of whatever you're trying to use?

dms isnt really all that hard. most of it is self explanatory. when the screen comes up, you'll see a splash screen with DMS on it. then you'll see options on the right side, and a list of partitions on the left. the right side shows you create, delete, rename, resize. or something like that. but if the program isnt working, make sure you have the latest versions of everything just to make sure.

when LE loads up you press select to configure buttons. in the misc folder, there is a file browser, and 3 more things that you might not need.

if dms is on your MC, then you scroll down with the directional pad to highlight a button (we'll selet [] = square for now), then press O (circle) to select the button. it will automatically take you to the file browser. you will go into the folder MC0:/ to find the file for DMS hdd format tool. it'll say DMS~~~~.elf or something related to formatting. highlight that file, then press O (circle) to set it. follow these steps for all of the apps you want to use (providing you have enough buttons) and that should do it.
