this is pretty interesting, and shows just whats going on with how consoles sales may go and how current things look to the public eye. but again, its a poll and polls are just the popular vote. the accual thing that matters is fact and fact is a long way away.
they forgot to mention that the numbers were skewed high, meaning that in whichever categories the study was divided into, a few erratic and high answers brought up the entire average of their sample size.
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option...d=3978&Itemid=2
still, though, for every poll that says X console win, there's another one out there that says the exact opposite.
it's all rubbish.

check out this ps3land interview with emegent game tech.
pretty interesting stuff to say about the ps3 and they're engine
Quote: 9. How are you utlizing the power of the PS3 to get the most for your games?
Most of the PS3?s power comes from the SPUs, but taking advantage of that power can be a tremendous challenge. It?s easy to get into a situation where the PPU is 100%% utilized while the SPUs are waiting for work to do. Avoiding this requires careful SPU task scheduling and optimal asynchronous data transfers. Floodgate provides this ability.
In addition, when Floodgate is used in conjunction with the Gamebryo for PS3 renderer, it can take advantage of a cool feature of the RSX to verify completion of graphics data transfers. That avoids having the Cell wait for such transfers to complete before issuing draw calls. Gamebryo for PS3 already does this automatically when it renders particle systems, but it can be used all kinds of of dynamic or procedural data, whether it?s geometry or textures.

my dad wants a 360 and i said "sure" because then i will know someone with one so i can play the few "must have" games like halo 3. i need to accually beat halo 1...maybe i did, i dont remember.
and happy friday the 13th! i'm celebrating on some h.b. woodrose.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Speaking of the 360 can anyone tell me if the original xbox games such as NCAA series or Madden will play on the 360? I know a lot of the "major" titles will play but needed to know if EA games like Madden and NCAA will play.

dude, major? a barbie game is backwards compatable issnt it? when good games like psyconauts issnt. any game that has a 360 counterpart will not work on the 360, their way of making you get another.
halo 2 doesnt work either right?

Halo and Halo 2 both work but I would warn anybody wanting to buy a 360 for playing original Xbox games at all not to. I've got around 35 Xbox games and out of those I think 5 might work. Also I was disappointed when Scarface the game didn't come out for 360, so I went and got it origianal Xbox and it wouldnt play on 360. Another thing that I found annoying was when you do actually get a game to play like GTA 3 or Vice City the cheats for it don't work.

why was microsoft so eager to rush their console? they could have put a mini xbox inside (like the ps3 for ps1 and 2), or atleast a better emulator.

the dis the controller, but for reasons that do not bother me in the slighest, expect maybe that they say the triggers are odd .

Yeah they could have made the emulation alot better, but I'm sure most of it was because they wanted you to buy the 360 version of the game insted of the cheaper original (for example, PGR 3 insted of 2, or NFS Most Wanted for 360 insted of the Xbox version). Oh well just another way to get ripped off I guess.

Maybe it's because they weighed up the advantages and disadvantages of including part emulation, full emulation and no emulation. At the end of the day no emulation would cause a fanboy backlash and full emulation would cost a lot of money - so part emulation was the answer.
I wouldn't bother if it wasn't backwards compatible at all, I don't play Xbox games anymore. Next-gen or retro for me with no in-between.
How does the backwards compatibilty work on the PS3? Does it have a Blue and red laser?

they have two lasers i believe.
and i'll play my old games, atleast those ones with replay value, all over again on the ps3 cuz it will upscale.
i need a better sound system to counteract the loss of vibration. i dont really mind losing vibration, but a nice sound system will be so much better than it. real life doesnt vibrate at you, why should a game? loud sound and a decent subwoofer are all i need.

Yeah, I agree, and IMO I think surround sound helps you out especially in shooting games becuase you know where the shooting is coming from when you are getting shot.

The wii looks impressive but the controller is whack, who wants to look like a retard swinging that thing and making all kinds of motions with those things in your hands? Younger kids will find that fun and exciting but give me a ps2 or xbox control anyday.

@java
i agree, its extremly childish and obnoxious, aswell as potentially embarresing.
hey you think there will be a wii game where you place the wiimote between your legs and and grind to see if you can make some girl scream? sounds like warioware or w/e that lame ugly a$$ game is. yes, innovative. innovative productively? no.
