So does that mean my settings are not being saved? or where you talking about the instructions?

The Region Override setting will always show as OFF even after you turn it on. It's normal.

will these configs etc fix this problem. my wii has a wiikey in it and was playing fine until i had to update, my wii is pal and i stupidly updates as american so its like sort of region bricked now, it dosent play copies or originals anymore even though it used to. everything else works fine like the channels and the settings etc.

firmware is 3.1E
wen i put any type of disk in it says Unable To Read Disc.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I burnt all my games on 4x on verbatum discs. Also i adjusted the wii's drive speed 3x and 6x but the same thing happens.

1) Use better quality media (Verbatim, Sony, etc..)
2)Burn at 4x or lower speed (Even though a few burners prefer higher speeds. Nut it very fer dvd burners that do, in general 4x or lower works)
3) If 1 or 2 do not work, then try changing the Wii's dvd drive speed using a Config Disc.

I figured out why brickblocker didnt work, i didnt have microsoft net framework 2 installed.

Anyway I have a problem concerning about the wii key, everytime when im in the middle of playing a backed up copy game, an error message appears saying that the wii does the recongize the disc. This problem happened to all the games i had and its fustrating! Does anyone else have the same problem?

So, it must be overheating (as it happens after you have been playing for some time):
1) Bad solder joint
2) or Bad location for the wiikey
3) or broken wiikey
4) or faulty drive component

Personally I think it is most likely a dry soldet joint. In other words - the solder touches your wire/solder-point nicely - until it warms up and expands - causing the solder and wire to come away from each other.

De-solder. Clean board and chip. Re-solder. [If you're handy with that]

Unless there are problems with your mod-chip, WiiFit will run and un-brick your Wii.

Step 1: See if your Wii recognizes and can actually run GCOS discs (Discs in Gamecube mode)

Step 2: If your Wii recognizes GCOS discs then try to run Config and/or update discs in GCOS mode (I would start with the Hacked 1.3 disc)

Report any progress or further questions here.

Hello,

I run on an NTSC(J) wiikeyed Wii and I recently downloaded the DVD9 Version of SSBB and burnt it onto a verbatim DVD-R DL disk at 4X but I ended up with the white screen error. From reading the forums, the white screen error can be fixed by updating my wiikey to v1.9g however I was pretty sure that my wiikey was up to date when I bought it from the shop in December as the guy at the shop said that it was up to date and also I was able to play SMG without any problems. Another thing is, sometimes when I try load the SSBB disk, the disk cannot be recognized and I get a question mark error at the Game Channel. Does this mean that something went wrong with the burning process? Or am I really not updated?

Ive tried the GCOS disc but the wii will not read the disc, do i just put the disc in as soon as the wii boots up? is there any other procedure im suppose to be doing?

(You may want to read my whole discussion with __666__ on page 7 of this thead. He was in a similar situation and was able to fix his wii)

When the Wii is having problems reading/running backups, obviously it is not possible to run the Config/Update discs as Wii discs to try to fix the situation.

The only alternative is to run the Wikkey Config/Update discs in GCOS mode and hope that the Wii will be able to read them that way. When you insert a GCOS disc you should see the Gamecube logo in the disc channel.

If neither the regular or Gcos mode work, then there is no way to run any discs at all and therefore no way to fix the situation via firmware.

That points to physical problems with the mod-chip or the dvd-drive.

Possible further steps are:
1) Check solder joints
2) de-solder the Wiikey and see if Wii reads originals. If it does then either try to re-solder the Wiikey and hope that it was a bad soldering job, or buy a new Wiikey.

Yeah it could be a hardware problem coz, but it only started doing it when i semi-bricked it...after fixing the problem with SMG none of my copys or config discs where being read...i cant see it being the drive itself because the wii can read orginals perfectley

I cannot get my Wii to read any of the config discs ever since I updated to 1.9g and then ran the update from SSBB. Anybody know of a fix for this?

By the way backups are running perfectly, so I have no idea why it is not working

Try the hacked Config disc the link is in the first post of this thread.

If that does'n work you may try GCOS versions of the Config discs, or, if you any other GCOS disc, you can start by inserting the GCOS disc, running it in the DISC channel, and then, when it says to insert a DVD in the drive and then press A, instead of pressing A, eject the DVD, insert a Config disc, and then press A on you GC controller.

Alright.... So. I have correctly installed the wiikey and i know for sure that i have wii version 3.0. I have followed all the directions on this site...http://www.modchip.ca/install/wii/wii.htm

i have downloaded the v3.0 boot/configuration and the setup disk for verion 3.0. when i put in either of these disks, i get an unable to read disk message and pressing the reset/toggle does not work(it only resets). Am i using the wrong software downloads or am i not burning the dvds correctly?

BLEH!

Ihave already tried the hacked config. Same outcome. I also tried the recover disc and it will not even read it. I am starting to think that the update theat the SSBB disc did to my Wii made it impossible to access the config.

GCOS disc? Please explain what that means.
