Does SSBB NTSC-U contain a firmware update? I'm really looking forward to the latest release with a firmware update to knock out this semi-brick issue.

How did you get a hold of a real copy of SSBB (U) already?
It is NTSC (U)...
So...? still how did you get your hands on SSBB (U) already?

Hesistant to mod my Wii. Need some help please!!
I have a NTSC-U Wii D2B, fw: 3.1U.
I'm not sure if this is true or not but if I were to install a modchip, lets say Wiikey, and update wiikey to 1.9g, it would semibrick, meaning I would NOT be able access the wii settings page and/or might end up with duplicate channels.
If i did the above paragraph, install wiikey on my wii and update wiikey to 1.9g. Here are my questions.
1)Is this the only problem that will happen, semibrick(NO access to wii settings and/or duplicate channels)? Or are there other problems if i do this(what are they)?
2)Will a gamedisk that contains the latest fw (as of now 3.2U) fix the semibrick issue 100%?
3)Is there a modchip that does NOT cause problems similar to this?
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted it to be clear.
I would appreciate any help and AfterDawn is the best forum on the web!

1) When installing the Wiikey, as with any other mod chip, the main concern is having good soldering skills.
2) Bricking problems have nothing to do with Wiikey firmware updates. You risk bricking youe Wii when you play games from regions other than yours, and those games carry Wii firmware updates.
3) There are ways to prevent brick problems. You can leave the REGION OVERRIDE setting of the Wiikey to OFF, or you can use Wiibrickblocker to check the Region Code of backup images and then burn only those matching your region.

thank you for the reply rafadawn, i think you misunderstood my question. my fault i shoulda made the questions simpler. but i'll try to make it more clearer...
I have a NTSC-U D2B Wii w/ 3.1U fw, i HEARD a rumor that if i modded my wii with wiikey or any other modchips, it will semi-brick = mainly i CANNOT access the settings page.
1)Are there gonna be any other problems when i mod my NTSC-U D2B Wii besides NOT being able to access to the wii settings?
2)And will a US bought (not downloaded) gamedisk containing the latest fw(3.2 as of now) fix the settings problems 100% and other problems 100%? I'm not planning on using games from other regions.
I hope this makes sense, I've been trying to search for these answers for a loong time, i really want to mod my wii, but i want to be sure if it is worth the risk.
So if anyone can please help...me luv u long time!

Untrue.

Modifying your Wii will not effect any of your settings.
Originally posted by fooddrink: 2)And will a US bought (not downloaded) gamedisk containing the latest fw(3.2 as of now) fix the settings problems 100% and other problems 100%? I'm not planning on using games from other regions.
The highest firware contained on any Wii game is 3.1.
If you have no intention of playing games out of your region. This shouldn't be a concern.

Hello, you may remember a while back, I asked for help with my WiiKey. It was recommended that I send it back. Well it was a LONG and ARDUOUS process but I finally have a working WiiKey. I installed it and STILL NO LUCK!
I checked the connection "upstream" on both the Wii and the WiiKey. I've used just about every combination of GCOS & padded on each of the following: 1.3 config, 1.2 restore, 1.9b firmware, 1.9g firmware, & Hacked Config bootdisk. I've been using Imgburn with Verbatim media at 2x.
Is there something simple I am missing here? Do I not just simply insert the DVD at the Wii home screen? Do I need to hold any buttons? Could it be my burner?
I have the D2B chipset and my pins aren't cut! I don't know what else could be wrong!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

ok.. I've searched for this answer and so far only one person has asked it 3 or 4 times, but No reply was given.
Can you play wii backup games online/wifi?
Of course assuming you have a modded wii w/ modchip, the updates, and a burned wii backup game with wifi compatibility for example, Mario Strikers Charged.
Thank you.

If you mean playing the original SSBB with the Wiikey, then you'll have to wait for a firmware release. Wiikey team said they're working on one, but nobody knows when it is coming out.

I am confident we will get a firmware update soon because:
1) it's not jus a one-game issue. This goes to playing original DL games with a Wiikey (SSBB and whatever new DL games will be published in the future)
2) There is a lot of clamor all over the Wii boards for a Wiikey update
3) The D2Ckey team is alive and kicking

Is there a way to somehow shut off the Wiikey 1.9g so that way it's not on while still inside the Wii? I don't want to take it out.
Thanks.

Hey guy i'm a new user.
So i know now that i need to wait for an update to play SSBB on a modded Wii.
My question is what site should i check to find the update once it's released, since you know, wiikey official site is not online.
Oh and Rafadawn are you moderator here or know everything that has to do with wiikey? Everybody seems to ask you questions on the subject.
Thanx
