You could try to open for more connections pr torrent in config, gave me a boost to use a unlimited number of connections. But had to wait about 10 minutes before it boosted up.

Help.

Yellow light still. Driving me crazy.

Here's my situation:

Dlink 624 router
Windows XP home
Bit Torrent 0.2.0 (Bit Tornado Client)

-- Confirmed that XP firewall is off

-- Have no software firewall installed

-- Configured Dlink router with ports configured using instructions on Dlink website specifically for Bit Torrent.
http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1347&question=bit+torrent

-- Read PortForward.com website instructions
http://www.portforward.com/dlink/di-624.htm

-- Reinstalled Bit Tornado client twice

-- Reset router and updated to latest firmware

I have read through this entire thread as well as the faqs at bit tornado.

I am testing right now with a popular file which has 21 peers and 5 seeds. The light is yellow. My speeds are 29kB/s download and 39kB/s upload. My settings are defaults with the speed set to Cable/DSL fast. I have a cable modem which tests consistently > 3mB/s download.

Can someone with the same situation and Dlink router please tell me how they got theirs to work.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated greatly. I have spent a lot of time on this. Thanks.

[Edit]
I just tried to allow all traffic applying DMZ to my PC and I still get yellow light! Thoughts?

What is the brand of the cable-modem?
A lot of modems are router at the same time, although there may be only one connection for the computer.
My Alcatel Speedlink is one of these. Portforwarding in the modem gave me the change from yellow to green.
And even though I can get 100 kBps, it is only if I download a couple of files. With one file I am happy to get more than 10 kBps, maximum I had was about 45.

Gerard....Got a question for u...I have a Linksys router, Linksys switch and a Westell wirespeed Modem (from my dsl company). I forwarded my ports for the Linksys router. Do you think iI still need to forward ports on the Westell modem? I do see it listed on the portforward site you gave a link to. The problem with this is that when I put in 192.168.1.1 it brings me to the linksys configuration. I usually only get 16 -20 kbs unless it is a really hot BT then iI once saw it shoot to 87kbs. I also opened the ports in the win xp firewall.

ok so far i have not got much help from this thread as i do not have a router only a adsl modem. I've posted in many times before but there seems to be no help for people who do not own a router. i downloaded and now use azuerus bittorrrent client and i must admit it helped the speeds to some extent. from my average 20 kb/ps i know get around 40 kb/ps but this is still nothing compared to the speeds that other people right in to testify. So i guess this is probably the last time i'm gonna ask this but PLEASE any one who significantly help people USING A ADSL MODEM to increase their speed PLEASE reply. Thanks a bunch anyway.

jxmee...u can call ur router manufacturer and they can give u the password. I know for linksys it is the same for every one, don't know about your brand. In fact if u get them on the phone they will walk u thru the port forwarding steps if u want them too.

pull1985 have u tried different bt clients? I found this helpful. Also everyone needs to keep in mind the outrageous speeds some ppl get have to do with their bandwidth, their connection speed as well as the speeds of the seeds, and how many ppl are dl that particular file at any given time. anyhow maybe i can help u more...u can im me on aim sn chocofiend2001 and i'll go thru ur settings with u and see if there is something that has been missed.

pull1985 do you know what Aol Instant Messenger is? That's Aim. You can download and install it for free, you do not have to have AOL. My screen name is chocofiend2001. Thats the name u would contact me with. Or you could contact on MSN Instant Messenger. Its just so much easier to try to troubleshoot real time than on this forum, much quicker.

zub7....did a few searches on ur modem....ok... conexant is not a modem manufacturer, they only make the chipsets for them. Here is the link to their FAQ's http://www.conexant.com/support/md_faqs.html, ok now to find out who your manufacturer is... locate the FCC ID# on the modem then go to www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid click on FCC ID codes or locate the registration # on the modem then go to www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/help.html click on fcc id# search and this will give you your manufacturer. You can then check the portforwarding.com site again for your modem. If its not listed there i would suggest u do a search on the internet for your modem's manufacturer and try to obtain either a phone number for support to ask what u need to do to forward your ports or some support right on the site. Hope this helps you.
