Can Anyone help, I'm using BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem (not a router), and have read all 2 years worth of this thread, but to no avail. If ANYONE can help me opening ports to improve my shoddy download/upload rate in BitLord I would be greatful.
Thank you.

maybe all ports are already forwarded to your ip... my isp does that too so i bought a seperate router and connected it to my modem.
Some sites can check if you are already "connectable" (have open ports) try to google it.. Good luck

wow, this is one heck of a thread! I am actually looking to ask an Azureus expert some questions about advanced configuration and some of the plugins. Is this the right place. I have a particular torrent that's driving me nuts (Lost TV Show seasons 1-25, hash=B19256AEED7CD1DC887AA2EDE2635539504635F0).
I am one of the ones with closed ports and getting 10-15K download speeds, but I don't think it's possible to get better here in Nepal with our slow broadband anyway (however I am open to suggestions). By the way I have a Dlink DI-604 and port forwarding is done under the heading of Virtual Servers List, is this some sorta nomenclature snafu?
Anyway, it's just this particular torrent that is taking a very long time (estimated completion is 30-160 days. And what I was planning on doing was setting the next episode as High Priority (all others are either do not download or normal) and hopefully that one would complete first, but that's not how it's working. I am getting writes to files that I have marked as DO NOT DOWNLOAD (episodes that I have seen) and the next episode that i want to see (06) had been stuck with 9 peices remaining for almost a week. There are tons of fully established peers @ 100, so I don't get why this one episode seems stuck, nor do I know how to force it to complete. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

thats a great idea but i can't find them, the torrent mentioned is the only one on Lost i can find that reports itself as decently seeded (8(227)). i've searched using all the common web sites, torrent spy, isohunt, etc. etc.. i have found a few private sites that have built the torrents as episodes, but none of them are ever seeding. arg. thanks though! but am i missing something? can i break this torrent into a smaller one?!?

Normally you can't break torrents down untill you have the complete file but I do remember using a little program that could do that, can't remember its name though. I think i got it here? computer crashed over 1 yr ago and I lost a lot of files. Good luck.

oh yeahh, people who have problems or just dont have linksys you can go to www.portforwarding.com or download Port Magic(which i think they're not selling anymore)

oh k your problim isent your computer or your router, you have shaw, shaw and rogers BLOCK all of the ports that azerus uses and ANYONE who has show or roger internet will get slow downloads and you cannot unblock the ports, i would suggest calling up rogers and yelling at them and c if they can unblock the ports from there base but i dought it, the best internet provider is TELUS adsl its faster then show and rogers and its like 24.95 month and you get a free iPod nano when you sine up, but then again iPod is made by apple so ya maby ask them if you can have a credit or something instead of an iPod lol

Okay all, here are my Azureus questions in relation to a slow torrent I am downloading from: B19256AEED7CD1DC887AA2EDE2635539504635F0
1) Ive opened up a port UDP port per instructions here and elsewhere on the router. All seems well there as far as port forwarding to a SINGLE port. (note the instructions here http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/... are really lacking, 1) I don't think u need a Static IP - at least with my ppoe connection with my ISP - and 2) the instructions on the bottom of the page are lacking any information, it's just a screen shot of the router dialog! - although i get it.)
2. So the problems with the torrent now seems to be 1) very slow downloads, and 2) the tracker seems to be having a problem connecting:
Connection Error (NoRouteToHostException:No route to host: connect, using this tracker: Tracker URL:http://tracker2.torrentbox.com:2710/announce. 3. Question: are the two related? Under the general tab, you can see azureus trying to query trackers every 5 minutes or so. Is this causing the download chart in advanced statistics to be spiking from 0-4kbs?
4. Question: I have the Distributed Database and Distributed Tracker plugins loaded and working. I have no idea what they do, except it looks like a database of peers and trackers? I also don't know how to read the log. I can't find any info anywhere on that!
5. Question: Azureus used to report using a port for the tracker as well as the Incoming UDP port, on boot (ya know, ya gotta hide it). It's not doing that now. Perhaps I changed something in the config screen, don't know. There are what seems like thousands of choices there, most with no help. Anyway, did i need that? Do u port forward a tracker port?
6. Observation: I really dig this tool, just wish I understood it all better.
Thanks!!!
jigs
EDIT: UPDATE - the tracker found it self after a restart, with no changes on my part, so I am in the "green" now across the board, just download speeds that range from 20 b/s to 4kb/s. It's going to take a month or so at this rate to get these files...

k, jigs or wutever your name is, you have the same router as me, portforoword.com should give you the EXCACT instructions, do them, and then disable windows xp firewall reset your router and PC and you set,

dear teiren474,
thanks for that, and yes, it's jigs. Those instructions rot for our router (ie. they left out the part about testing the proposed port in Azureus first: Tools/Nat Firewall Test/etc.) and don't really tell you how to fill in the blanks in the router dialog. but that's alright, these instructions are replicated all over the web.
So, the port's forwarded fine. But still so so slow. Other torrents are marginally faster, but usually much smaller than 8 gigs. So all in all, Azureus is working, just not with this huge torrent, and not at speeds I hear others talking about...
Thanks,
jigs

no, my ISP here in nepal is not one of those and they would never think of doing such a thing to a customer. They might have problems for other reasons - like what does this red cable do? or what if try this MTU?
we are pretty much loose like that in Nepal. Any other ideas?

teiren474, you wrote:
"if its rogers or shaw they both block azeruses port and you can not unblock the port"
Just change the port that Azureus uses? Some of the private torrent sites won't even let you connect through the default 6881 port!

bud, or anyone who wants to find out if they can download fast torrents, only hock up on ecomputer from the cable or dsl modem DIRECTLY to the one computer, turn it on and try downloading something threw azerus, if it downloads fast its your router change the ports and all is fine but if you still download slowly its your ISP not your router, i know it seems weired but i know this for a fact that some ISP s can block fast torrrent downloading

never heard of nepal? it's squished between china and india. there is only one real broadband provider here, and we get low-rent lines from India, who seem to make life miserable for ISPs here. My broadband here at 6000 rupees a month is mostly than a typical 56k modem. They are working on something called Jitter coming from the dish up ion my roof tower. The latest is that there are trees in the line-of-sight-way between my reciever and their tower. Anyone understand that? please write me. It's between 3 and 7 at any frequency. ke garne.
