U can't just use DVD Decrypter, you have to also have some type of mod-chip to play it.

Mark0071, which version of PS2 do you own? (Flip it over & look for the SCPH-xxxxx number. Do you use Swap Magic or a modchip? What kind? Are you using DVD+R or DVD-R media? Are these your games or did you "find them" somewhere?
Answer these questions; we can prob help you very quickly then.

Mark0071}Do you also have a mod chip or swap magic??You just can't burn a game and expect it to play without some kind of modification.

Quote: you dont need a no solder mod chip. Just swap magic with a flip top or slide card
Yes I know but the flip top is not compatible with a v7 ps2 and a slide card is just an unecessary hassle. I would rather just get a mod chip and swap magic disks.. its a lot easier imo.

I have started to try to make back-ups. My Kids have destroyed a couple DVDs by playing around and stepping on DVDs. So I purchased Magic 3.6 and the swap kit. That went fine. Unfortunately the back-ups won't work. When they're inserted I get the "invalid PS 2 disc".
Here's what I'm using to back up the discs;
Nero, tried to create a back-up DVD once and also copied a disc and then created a new DVD (at 2.4x despite selecting 1x). The back-up method automatically went to 4x???
Neither disc worked!
DVDs are Nexxtech+RW 4x
DVD is a +RW also
Anybody see any problems with what I'm doing wrong?
Oh yeah, PS2 V14
Cheers
Ingy

Yes ditch the RW's. They don't work well with the PS2. Use quality DVD-R's. I don't know what you're laughing at, hckrkd they make flip top's that are compatible with v.4-7 PS2, I had one. They make them for v.1-3, v.4-7, and v.8-11.
1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter.
Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544 If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. So far I've never had a lag, skip, freeze, or boot failure since I switched to Taiyo Yuden's. With results like that, why would I use anything else?
3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

Then could you please direct me to a place where i could order one that is compatible with v.7? thanks
ps, "v.1-3, v.4-7, and v.8-11"..... isnt it a lil bit easier to say v.1-11? lol
and.. how risky is installing a solder mod chip? If i make one mistake, do i have to go out and buy a whole new ps2? my warranty is already void so yea..

no its not, each version, is different.
like each versions have a differnet amount of screws on the bottom. I think theres more to that than just screws, but i forgot thwat they are. if you order the wrong case, it wont fit.
also, if your looking to buy one, gocybershopping.com is a good place to buy ps2 stuff
also part 2, i wouldnt solder it yourself UNLESS your a supreme pro at it, yes 1 mistake its gone, go look at tokijins ultimate guide and youu see.
40. Q. I have a middle school diploma, a bottle of Jack Daniels, and a soldering iron, should I solder my modchip myself?
A. C'mon. What do you think? Absolutely, unequivocally, definitely, without question, NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Unless you are an experienced solderer, don't go near your motherboard with a 10 foot pole. There's no quicker way to ruin a perfectly good PS2, than with a shot of JD and a soldering iron. Pay a Pro. It'll save you money down the road. http://www.teammodders.com is a good place to start.
