ok thanx man. So i guess my main problem is that i need some sort of mod chip. Or do i need this thing called a magic swap..which i researced and went to a site where u can buy it, these pieces that u hook up to ur PS2 to open it or something.
Also there is something i heard of called a swap trick..is this the same thing as the magic swap..i guess u do something like fool ur system into thinking it is an original game..i think you use like a gameshark to do that.

ok so heres the thing. i know how to burn playstation 2 games right. the problem is my PS2 cant read them. and after readin urs and others replys and forums..magic swap isnt the greatest product to get.Which is because i have to do all this switching and swapping of dics for my Ps2. So i am gonna get me a mod chip. Everyone has been saying that matrix infinity is the best. so i went to there site that u provided me and they said the retailer for it in the USA is this site http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/di-ps2-minfi is this in fact the correct product i need? and that i wont have to do any switchin or swapping when i try to play my PS2 burns. The mod chip will automaticly play it for me?
This would be much appreciated if u could answer that for me.
then i think i would pretty much have the whole PS2 game copying down.
thnx man

Nobody's trying to give you a hard time. This question gets asked alot so there are a lot of stickies dealing with that issue. When you are talking about good modchips, three enter the conversation. The "big three" the DMS 4 Pro SE, Matrix Infinity, and the Crystal Chip. Swap Magic's okay, but a good modchip blows it out of the water.
5. Q. What modchip should I get?
A. Matrix Infinity, DMS 4 Pro SE, or the Crystal Chip Pro 1.1. The DMS 4 Pro SE has a HD Loader built into the flash and all the feature's you'd expect from a quality modchip, I recommend the DMS 4 SE Pro, because it has a 2MB flash built into the chip, and it's only about $10 more than the DMS 4 SE Lite. If you're interested in playing games off a HD, take a look at the DMS 4 Pro SE.
http://www.dms3.com/dms4se/features.html
The Matrix Infinity is the grandfather of auto boot modchips. It was the first modchip to auto boot backups/imports with no swapping/resetting. It's feature packed and simple to use. Matrix Chips are probably a little more durable than the other two, and extremely reliable. There are a lot of Matrix Infinity clones out there, make sure you order from one of the reputable installers listed in this thread.
http://www.infinitymod.com/cgi-bin/matrix/site.pl?page=chip_infinity
The Crystal Chip 1.1 is the latest contender to graduate to the top flight chip category. It is feature packed, simple to use, and effective. The CC auto patches DNA ID's so you'd never need to bother with Windip, Winimage, or Disc ID Insertor. Definitely recommended if you play your backups online alot. To boot backups/imports the Crystal Chip requires the use of "hacked" firmware. It's simply the official firmware modified so the chip can boot backups and imports. Everyone who uses the CC uses the hacked firmware, so fear not.
http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2#31 CC 1.1 Hacked Firmware v.19: http://www.forumconsolas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1213
I personally have a Matrix Infinity and it works great. I have no regrets as to getting a modchip over Swap Magic. Once you have a quality modchip, you'll never go back to disc swapping again. It cost's a little more in the short term, but think of all the time you'll save rebuilding, shrinking DVD-9 to DVD-5, patching PAL games to NTSC, and the like. If you haven't noticed, most people who have trouble getting games to boot are Swap Magic users. This isn't nearly as frequent a problem for people who have modchips. Just some food for thought.
Note: v.12-14 PS2's will need a laser fix like the neo fix. This is necessary to keep the laser from burning out.
From KC36330, a professional modder and member of AD:
If your modder didn't install a laser fix then most likely your laser is now on its way out. All V12-V14 PS2's require the laser fix, especially modded consoles. Even a new unmodded slimline PS2 can burn the laser out in as little as a few hours of game play.
Laser fix info: http://www.modchip.com/ps2/v12laserfix.htm
26. Q. I'm in the market for a modchip or premodded console. What are some reputable sites I can order from?
A. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251223 In addition http://www.modchip.com and http://www.norcalmods.com are supposed to be reliable. http://www.Xmodds.com is another quality mod site. If you're interested in a premod or modchip, be sure to order from one of these high quality sites.

ok, so like with the mod chip i wont have to do any swapping or anything? i can just stick my burned PS2 game in the system and it will work just as if it was an orginal PS2 game?
Also when i was browsing through mod chips, theres ones that are "no-soldering required" are those ones usually better or worse then ones u do have to solder? are they easier?
Also one of my big concerns is this whole lazer thing. Is me using burned games in my system gonna wear down or screw up my lazer? It said something like burn out the lazer within a few hour or something somwhere. Is that gona happen with my lazer? is that from the disc or from the modchip?
thnx, i think i'm almost clear on everything so then i wont have to bother or waste ur time anymore, srryz

The no solder chips are crap. Pay a pro to install one of the three chips I mentioned. With any of those chips you wont have to swap discs or press reset to get your games to boot.

Gocybershop.ca is a good site, but if you're comfortable with consolepoint.com than go ahead.

Man them panthers were supposed to win that game and everyone knows it. Delhomme just didn't have a good day and the Seahawks only way of stoppong Smith was putting 3 or 4 dudes on him so that shows how sorry they are. Plus we couldn't get our running established early. And Foster was injured. Steelers will win the Superbowl.

The teammodders link works, but you have to register for their site, which is free. The XS link does appear to be down. The file hippo link seems to work fine, on my browser anyway. I'll update those links in my FAQ. DVD Decrypter is a must have for PS2 backups.
