Disable UPnP: Azureus > Tools > Options > Plugins > UPnP and select a port over 50,000 if you haven't.

I have never used Azureus but that sounds like it and you can look here: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/UPnP or here: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/NAT_problem I believe Azureus has different levels of user membership that can be enabled or unenabled.

With Rogers blocking torrents, I don't see disabling UPnP helping.

Hi, I left a question earlier about bt home hub using BitTornado, and was told by mistycat to do "port forwarding" I have done this but I'm using 2 computers on my hub! Should I put two different port ranges or put both on 10000-10010?? Cheers for any help in advance!! Kev

As BitTornado opens a new window for each download, a range is necessary. 10,000 - 10010 should be fine. But, remember, you're only sharing your bandwidth if you have more than 1 download open at a time. That applies to any client.

It doesn't matter what client you use if Rogers is still your ISP. For after you switch, at options>preferences>connections, use a port over 10,000 not the default and disable UPnP and at options>preference>bittorrent, enable Protocol Encryption and allow incoming legacy connections but untick allow incoming legacy connections if there is no increase and untick both DHT options if you use a private site. Also, at the speed guide connection type, set it to your upload speed.

umm ok, i think you contradicted your self because you said: enable Protocol Encryption and allow incoming legacy connections but untick allow incoming legacy connections lol your saying allow incoming leacy connections but then you say untick it, so should i untick it or not lol?

If after ticking allow incoming legacy connections, you see no increase in speeds, untick it. It can make you more vulnerable to traffic shaping and is of no use if it doesn't help anyway.

omg i was downloading a big file on utorrent today and it was going very very fast for my isp, a stable rate of 40-100kb/s. I left it for an hour or two and when i came back it was back down to 0-1kb/s....WTF!!! it got to 28.5% before it just broke down. I didn't change anything and i wasn't doing anything on the computer either. Any explanation since it was doing fine for about 2-3 hours?

Lot's of things can apply, low number of seeds, you and most of the other peers have completed the same amount, your ISP only blocking at certain times, your connection, etc.

well for some reason my seeds are 0(4500) and my peers are 58(2856). I don't know why my seeds are zero because i was downloading at pretty fast speeds and it was still zero. The best explanation is that it only blocks sometimes because now im back to earth going at about 0-8kb/s so it's atleast something but most of the time it's going from 0-1kb/s. I wish there was a way to download straight from the internet like regular downloads, that would make like so much more easier lol :)

There is sort of, look into Newsgroups but I don't know how Rogers affects it and not free: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/389304 or http://www.angelfire.com/gundam/newsgroupguide/ No uploads to maintain a ratio, no port forwarding, maximum speeds that stay consistent.

Hack the max half-open TCP connections

If you?re on XP sp2, your TCP connections are limited to a maximum of 10. This might hurt your downloading speed because it wont let you connect to as much peers as you want. It is supposed to slow down viruses because their spreading strategy is to connect to a high amount of ip numbers, but it could cripple your torrent downloads.
A nice way to fix this is to download this patch http://lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

Well, i say. This has to be one of the single most informative threading marathons i have ever had the patience and inclination to read through in it's entirety.

Apart from one question.

It keeps on cropping up but no one can seem to come up with a definitive answer, or not that i've seen anyhow. There is always the chance that in 71 pages i did miss it but i don't think i did.

The Alcatel/Thomson 330 SpeedTouch. It's not a router so can't be portforwarded and mostly every ISP who is providing it is listed on the BAD ISP list from Azureus.

Now, I'm an old old denizen of the internet and i've been using torrents since they were invented lol, I'm going to come up with the definitive solution to this Thomson 330 dilema if it kills me. If anyone can come up with a solution faster than i can i'll be entirely greatful. In the meantime, my first port of call is going to have to be a change of bit client, which i am not happy about. I love BitComet, used it for ages.

I'll be trying Azureus first.

Congratulations! Your skill in reading has increased by 1 point.
