The most likely reason is that you're burner doesn't burn below 4x. If your firmware is up to date and you're using quality Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media, then burning at 4x on 8x media should be okay.

okay. I´m using Verbatim and the games run fine on the PS2 but the console makes some loud noises. Sounds like the disc is spinning really fast.

sometimes clicking noises but mostly a noise from the rpm increase from the disc. You can hear it speed up and then it stays on a very high level.

Hey, I have tried burning a few games including gran turismo 3, nhl 2k5, syphon filter....i use maxell DVD+R and they have worked beautifully for dvd's...i have a matrix infinity chip and i dont think it is a problem with the chip because i can enter the menu can change the settings and i got a pro to install it so i have no idea..i have also just downloaded Nero because it automatically booktypes it to dvd-rom which i heard could be the problem but it hasent worked for me so if anyone has this modchip or has had similar problems and know a fix i would appreciate some help thanks!

What's the Media ID of those Maxell's?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Maxell works pretty good for me. For my lightscribe media I use HP and when I'm burning I use Nero 7 Burning Rom. After I burn my games imediatley afterwards I put a D-Skin on them.

Chuck those Riteks, they're no longer adeaquate for PS2 backups. They may work okay for movies, but the PS2 laser is picky. The best solution is to get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim 4x or 8x media. More than likely that'll resolve the issue.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm

106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com

Try patching the DNA's with Windip, that's the best way.

20. Q. What are DNA's?
A. Any game made after 2003 for the PS2 that is online playable contains one or more image files that has a "disk
DNA checker." The online game server checks your game disk to see if it's the real thing or not. Thus, you have to discover which .img file on the game disc has the checker file.

21. Q. How do I patch DNA's?
A. http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html
With Windip (recommended): http://forums.psxforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=117528

Windip: http://www.sksapps.com/online/WinDIPv1.7.zip

22. Q. Where can I find DNA ID's?
A. NTSC-US: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/198137
Updated NTSC DNA's thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291526

You had this problem on the previous page, adjust the file splitting to none. Normally it wouldn't matter, but when patching an iso, you need the whole iso together. Change your settings and rip the game again. Refer to the question about Media ID and post the results.

The iso may not need to be whole. If you rip it and it's split, try patching the i00 file.

Hey guys, I have a problem backing up my games. It may be cose I am using DVD+RW and not DVD+R, It is a problem or it should work? I also wanna know if you guys can help me with backing up my games for online usage?
I did burn the SW Battlefront in a DVD+RW but it did not work, it says Not a valid PS2 disc.
There is any way I am doing something wrong?
I used the DVD Decrypter, ISO read and ISO write, I let it in speed 1x. However, there is 2 files, one is the ISO Image file and the other is MDS file, I selected the ISO Image file, and the back up was successful, but it did not work sssss.
I have the Swap Magic 3 + Flip Top Cover and it is fine.
I put the DVD+RW and it does not work. SSSSS. BS. lol.
Help Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.

Thanks
