hi to everyone here
im completely new to burning or backing up ps2 discs. there seems to be so much information on this thread that im just confused. im not sure what applies to me.
i have a basic ps2 console, which doesnt have any modchip or anything. if i have a ps2 game, exactly what steps would i need to follow to burn a ps2 game. are there any softwares i can download and complete the process without having any chip installed? and im new to all these different terms like swap magic.
im sure this may have been answered somewhere in this thread, but there's like 70 pages on this thread, so i dont really want to search every post on every page.
so if i simply have a basic ps2, what software do i need if any to complete the process of burning a ps2 game. can someone please help this over-worked confused girl? if so, thanks so much
xxxxxx

Yep. Everytime this gets asked. Especially when the answer is already on the same page as the post. It's amazing how often that happens.

As long as it's not another "Do I need a modchip or Swap Magic to play PS2 backups?"question I'm more than happy to help. Do you have a legit Matrix Infinity? When you boot your PS2, what version firmware appears under the Matrix Logo? The reason I ask is there are a ton of MI clones out there. What did you order off of? Assuming the chip is legit, it sounds like it might be a media issue. Get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:

i used dvd decrypter and it extracted three files......
dvdimage.i00 size = 3.99GB
dvdimage.i01 size = 385MB
dvdimage(mds) size = 4.24KB
are these iso files? and why are there 3 of them?
now is that what i'm supposed to get and which one do i burn.
also if anyone can answer my previous question that was overlooked, how can i create an iso file from an original game? thanx.
i am sooooo lost.......

It doesn't make any difference. You don't have to adjust that setting for games to work okay. It should work either way.

Im sorry Im saying this, and I;m ashamed I'm saying it to.....But this is one of the biggest things Im most clueless about.....I have no clue what any of this is, I dont have a clue what to do. I know I have a DVD burner and a decryptor. But what do I need to put in my PS2 to play backed up games (and explain what it is) and do I need any other specific programs to get this to work.
Please don't ignore this post Im really eager to know how to do this.
Thanks.

Well if you're truly eager to learn, that's good. There's plenty of info in the PS2FAQ in my sig. Start there.

Fifa Street 2 needs patched in order to work with Swap Magic. Some people say it doesn't, others say it does. I burned a copy of the PAL version to TYG02- 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's and it plays fine. Of course I have a Matrix Infinity, not Swap Magic. Try downloading the patch and it see if it helps. Sorry I get so sick of readig this thead, I missed what game you were trying to backup. Quite frankly, you could've found this yourself with any searching at all.
Patch: http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=552712
Insturctions:
1.extract FifaStreet2-pal_ntsc-iso-patcher.exe to .ISO directory
2.press "readme"
3.press "Browse..", select the iso file.
4.press "Scan".
5.press "ntsc patch" or "pal patch".
6.all done.
7.same iso size.

It depends on the game you burn.

Sounds like it could be a media issue. What's the Media ID of the discs you're using? What kind of chip do you have?
91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm Huge List of Media ID's (Thanks to DogBomb): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431
