If Sony is going to sell a Blu Ray DVD player through Best Buy for $999.99 and if they will sell a PS3 with a Blu Ray DVD drive for anything less than $999.99, then why would I buy the $1K DVD player? It seems there is a significant flaw in that marketing strategy. Such an event, were it to occur, would also indicate to me that the $1K price for the DVD player is an artifically inflated price. Does anyone else see the inconsistency here?

yes....but as i said in previous post,i have been amusingly watching this forum,but didn't samuels,not in a good descriptive manner as yours,point this out with one of his links,and the price of the PS3 revealed by the top bloke at sony,that the PS3 would be around the $800-900USD,maybe that is going to be the PS3's loss per console, if they were to utilise the blu-ray technology,but also in one of the links it says that blu-ray may not even be used in the new console?

not quite 1K...the big man at sony has said, that it would be sold for around $800-900USD (PS3)so if their blu-ray players are going to sell around the 1K...the console would be selling at a loss of $99 per console IF they utilised the blu-ray technology into the PS3 and put a price of $900USD on it .so yes,be aware that the PS3 may well be expensive.

maybe so,but i don't think he did,go back through the pages and i think you will find that demondash abused everyone that didn't agree with him,he deserves the ban not the others.as for leaving it alone,too late for that,i am discussing my thoughts with admin.demondash should of been dealt with in the first place,not 7-8 pages later,goes to show how well this forum is monitered by mods

That's pretty crazy of sony to do. Pretty dumb actually. They won't even sell any of them for 900 bucks. They should just lose the money and sell it for 400 or 500 bucks.

true,but there is speculation(not confirmed as yet) that sony may sell for $499USD,but then look at the loss on each console then.is sony really prepared to lose that much per unit? if what the big man himself at sony says the console is going to be around $800-900 USD is actually true,i don't know.i read his statement in an interview by a link supplied by samuels some pages back,i can't understand sony saying something like that,being expensive and not directed at the basic household,it's kind of very poor marketing coming from a senior of sony.
