honz9 is right on the money.
Anytime you enter that machines ip address in the DMZ you need not change any other settings on the router-
However that computer in now "out in the open" (even with a softare firewall), thus a network wide security risk.
If by chance you are stuck at work or university without something to watch check out the videos(movie length) at http://nada414.com

Hey guys,
I've got a SparkCom ADSL moudem/router, which works nicely but I'm getting a low ID with eMule. I've opened up the ports in my firewall, but I don't seem to be able to get my modem to forward the ports. I've tried reading the manual, but that left me as clueless, if not more so, as before. The uploads seem to be going well enough. But downloads don't seem to want to happen.
Does anyone know how to configure this particular modem/router?

When I going to open the ports. Is the ip address always 192.168.0.1 as it is my d-link router, or do I have another ip address? I saw that my wan had something like 82.164.81.178. What is this?
Sorry for my poor english

I have a SureCom Cable router and i have configured it to gt high id in emule. The problem is when i try to use two diferent pc's at the same time i can't create two virtual servers with the same ports, so only one of the computers has low id. It gives me this error message:"Input port conflict". What can i do to have to computers with high id connected to the same router?

Hi, after using since long time eMule and before eDonkey and many other P2P-programs I got the feeling that something changed in our P2P-World.
My EmUle Downloads got from Version to Version slower. Always when I update a new Version of eMule my Downloads getting worse. Specially the Version from 0.29 to the 0.3x was the break. It was on the same day when I used it that my Downloads of the same files dropped 80% and more. Is it now because I updated eMule or because there are more and more people in this network? I think it should be faster if more people join the community. But in my opinion there is something wrong with eMule now. I can be wrong, but it looks like it. I think that the programmers are so overfocused on their "Upload control" that they forgot to let the users reasonable download.
I am not happy with eMule anymore.

Ok Y'all
I have read through all this and still no luck, I just got a new router/Dsl Modem (Linksys BEFW11S4/Speedstream 5200/Gateway-Bridge)With Alltell as my ISP.
I keep getting low ID and half the time I cannot connect at all, I've tried testing the ports through Emule and they fail(at least the TCP) I have fowarded the ports in the router I have no Firewalls active that I'm aware of. I have no Idea where to go next, I have been using emule for a about a year, my old router and modem worked fine.
Hopefully someone out there is using this setup and can help out, I would really appreicate it!!!!
Thanks
Rick

my first post here :)
anyways I tried all those things with my linksys and I still had lowID. what I did was change the port in emule settings to one I knew worked for another aplication (bf1942- port 14567) for both TCP and UDP. restarted emule and windows firewall(XPsp2) asked to allow emule and I say yes. w00t it worked right away! now i have a high ID! Maybe my ISP may be limiting the default emule ports or something. anyhow I never run emule and BF at the same time so it is good for me :)
btw since it is known that 14567 is default bf1942 port i do not think ISP will ever restrict or block it even if you do not play that game.
I will try another alternative port later (some other popular game i never play) just to keep things seperate.
thanks for getting me thinking about this and having the first thing on google search "emule linksys lowid"
thats why i joined :)

I noticed a few things that help me get a high-id.
1) (After you fowarded your ports of course) Run NOTHING else except eMule.
2) Run eMule Plus as it won't connect to servers that give you a low id.
3) Try lots of times on one server, eventually it could send a high-id, I usually try 5-8 times on Razorback 2 before i get a high-id.

Sprint DSL Router 645 Series
This router has a web baised interface, but it does not actually say "Port Forwarding" in the listing.
I have this router connected to a wireless router so this post might get lengthly.
First to solve the Sprint router:
1) login to the web baised interface
In IE: http://192.168.1.1 - this is default for this router
Use admin as username and 1234 as password
NOTE: 1234 is default when you origionally setup the router with sprint dsl your email address password was placed in here, so use that to log in.
2) Click on Advanced Setup on the left
Click on NAT
In Network Address Translation (NAT) select the box: SUA Only and edit details
3) In this screen you will have a menu with start port end port and IP address
Check with edonkey to find your ports, but the ip address will be 192.168.1.2
Save changes
If you only have one computer and router you are done.
I assume you disabled the firewalls, ect...
With my setup this passes the ports to the wireless router, I am sure there is another post for configuring them if you are interested.

Many people have a problem with router + emule, as I did. I did a lot of tests but nothing seemed to really work. I could not run emule even with Low-ID. I even downloaded and installed zone alarm pro and disconnected the router, tried to open the relative ports from there. Nothing. Now here is my story: I have a D-Link DSL-300T modem and a D-Link DI-604. As I came to understand after my 500th call to D-Link support, SP2 and the modem don't get along very well and as a result I was forced to use DHCP for the modem because if I didn't, I couldn't connect. So I red the manual from D-Link and emule, I took some advice from a relative question in D-Link website, learned a few things and this is what I've done. I firstly connected the modem, enabled the DHCP server and connected to the Internet. All tests ok. Now I connected the router and opened the TCP ports 4661-4665 and 4711 and the UDP port 4672 by going to the Virtual Server tab of my router config page and easily doing it from there.. Also, and this is important, for some reason emule doesn't like DHCP servers, so I disabled the DHCP server from the router and instead I defined a static adress. You just go to network connections, right click, properties, select TCP/IP, properties and select use the following IP adress, where I put for example, 192.168.0.139, the subnet mask should then be 255.255.255.0 and the put for the default gateway, the address of the router, in my case 192.168.0.1. I also got the DNS server addresses from my ISP and put them below there. Then I opened emule and changed the TCP port to 4661 and tested the ports....ok. Now I can download, but very very slowly. Could that be because when the 4661 TCP port is used, I need to open UDP port 4665 also? Will opening this UDP port mess up the whole thing because I have a 4665 TCP port open? Should I then close the 4665 TCP port and open it as a UDP port? Or disable the UDP port from emule anyway... I am a bit stuck and...pffff I've done so many tests and I need a bit of help on what to do next.
Thanks

i've tried just about everything in this forum and other forums including the same for emulel help. i opened the ports for eMule, WindowsXP Gateway, WinXP_firewall and opened ports on linksys router. Nothing worked!!!
HOWEVER, I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM!!! i did some research and found that a lot of ISP's are blocking the emule default ports (4662 and 4672).
HERE IS MY FIX: First, change the two (default) ports in eMule to something other than 4662/4672 (mine are TCP:4660 and UDP:4670 -> (Close eMule). Second, (important) change all ports: WindowsXP Gateway, Winxp_firewall, and router and anyting else you are using (i opened all using the new ports just in case). Make sure you save settings in the router.
Finally, open eMule. mine connected almost instantly and running at HIGH ID.
Let me know if this works for anyone else.
