Hi. I wanted to copy my anime; increase picture quality... found emule and have been down the merry path ever since. One- you NEED a firewall- try www.wilders.org- good freeware sygate;avast(virus) Spywareguard, ect.. oh, a must is peerguardian2 by methlabs; anyway, my Kad has been firewalled for months; I tried going through my veralink ect. I know that even when you shut your pretty much useless WXP firewall off, it still runs internnally! How is that?
So I asked emule for help-once very helpful and once really, really rude. When I first stated out I was very timid and face it, some are rude. Anyway, watch your computer or you'll get something nasty(I did). Is there a spy free, mostly jerk free, gov free P2P out there? Sorry if I sound too bitter; I am a bit frustrated. Also,
how can I copy files?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me configure my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station so that I can get highID in Emule? I do get a high ID when I directly connect my internet connection to the wall, so I know it's the Airport router that is the problem.
I have searched this forum as well as googled for help, but all the help I can find are for Linksys or D-Link routers.
I'll greatly appreciate any help I can get... thanks!

Hi all, please help me get rid of my lowid's; i'm going mad! My setup is like this:
I have a netgear WGT624 router connected to my zyxel 650 adsl modem. My Netgear has a static ip of 192.168.0.1 and has UPNP turned on. The pc that runs emule has a static ip of 192.168.0.3 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1. Port forwarding on the netgear has been configured on ports 4660 TCP and 4670 UDP to be sent to 192.168.0.3. Port triggering has been tried as well; to no effect. Emule is configured to the above ports of course, but i'm still getting lowids. The pc does not have any software firewalls enabled or installed, and the windows xp sp2 firewall is turned off. Can anyone help me find what i'm doing wrong? Firmware and drivers on all devices are current, as well as emule version. Thanks for your time.

hi-about low id: I don't think it makes much differance. My Kad has been firewalled forever; I tried everything. I had avast, now it's Nod and Sygate. I have a low id but I download high and fast. So try those- perhaps, your windows XP firewall is still on- it runs internally evan when you shut it off. Wish you luck!

Oh my god. For 3 years i've suffered a low ID. Forever thinking it was because of my router. I'd forward the ports, get HI-ID and then eMule and my PC would hang/crash after about 2 minutes and i'd have to reboot my router.
So i bought a new router, but still the same problem.
So i read through almost aLL of this post and eventually came across someone mention having to UNINSTALL zone alarm. So i did that and I'VE GOT A HI-ID and it DOESNT CRASH.
Soz about all the shouting but i cant believe i've finally got it working, and i cant believe i could have fixed it years ago if i'd just ditched ZA.

its all basically port forwarding, usually using 4662 and 5157 (i think for edonkey or emule anyway). Look for instructions on how to set forward ports for your particular modem. They are called pinholes aswell. Had a lowid for ages until i botherd 2 even look at it. U dont really need a firewall when u have a router cause its a type of firewall anyway.

don't get TOO frustrated, bballer22, it usually takes awhile to start download. you see, the more popular a file is, the more people will be wanting to download it. when YOU choose to dl a file, your name goes on a queue waiting list of each of the sources. some files have small waiting lists, but some, possibly like your will "mith", may have larger waits. i've seen some as high as 500! but don't fret, the more files YOU share, particularly ones you've downloaded from eMule, the faster you go up the queue list! usually is best to set a BUNCH of stuff up to dl, and let it go for awhile. often you can even dl from multiple sources simultaneously! good luck!

I've had a D-Link DSL-G604T router kodem for a while now, and up until a few days ago, emule was not firewalled because i forwarded the appropriate ports. however, now i do have a lowid on emule, and the ports are still forwarded. I've tried everything and i'm still a lowID and thus basically can't download anything at any speed (5KB/s is the highest ive seen and this is on 2megabit)

ADSL Caps? Is this maximum data transfer?
There's no real way to up this unless you move to a better ISP, which i strongly suggest.

apirat, you never mentioned what router you're using. this is necessary for many purposes, and would garner you a quicker answer.
