Hi. I have Netgear, and I followed someone's instruction, and it worked! I now have high ID again, but here's the problem:
I added the service as instructed using my laptop, and the emule on the laptop now works just great. But the destop doesn't! What does this mean? Do I have to create a second service?
thanks.

I recommend you, first, configure your desktop exactly as you did on your laptop. I think i know what the problem is on your pc. in your router you open ports for the TCP/UDP but this is directed only to your ONE of your IP addresses (your laptop). In your router you need to open ports TCP/UDP that are directed to your IP address for you Desktop PC. Example: lets say your laptop IP Address is 192.168.1.102 you used this informaiton in your router for the TCP/UDP ports to allow traffice to pass through but ONLY to 192.168.1.102 (your laptop). Now lets say your Destop IP Address is 192.168.1.103. You will need to go back to your netgear router and open ports for your destop IP address 192.168.1.103. Use the same TCP/UDP ports you are using for your Laptop which should match TCP/UDP ports in emule. Your router is only allowing TCP/UDP traffic to pass through to your laptop. By adding your desktop IP address it tells your router that you want to allow the the same traffic to pass to your Desktop.
you probably already know this but to get your IP address go to a DOS prompt and type: ipconfig.
let me know if this helps/works.

Hi Guys.. I have a Belkin wireless router with a origio 8000 modem. When I set up the port forwarding should I set it up on the modem or the router or both?
Thanks.

All you have to do is foward ports 4662(TCP) and 4672(UDP), incoming and outgoing. Those are the default ports Emule uses. The guy who posted the first post in here about fowarding ports 4660~4712 is high. Why would you foward 52 ports to your internal IP?
And since nobody brought it up you can use port triggering for emule as well. Yes it works. You will get a low ID message when you first connect but once you connect(never took me more than 30 seconds) and start downloading the ports open up and all is well. When I check my router status it shows ports 4662 and 4672 open. When you close out Emule the ports will close after a certain amount of time, depends on your router.

Hi!
I'm using a Enhwi-gate1-nt (from Encore) router. Port forwarding is enabled, still emule is obtaining a low id. Here you can see my router's config: http://www.info341.com.ar/miconfig.jpg
192.168.1.10 is the computer running emule. When I connect without the router I get a high id. With the router: low id...
I'm using emule's default ports, I tries other ports but without succes. My ISP is not blocking ports.
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks!

Hey Judoboy, gang, anyone out there who can help, I was hoping someone could give me a little help with my emule connection problems. I can connect, but can't get a high ID to save my life.
I've currently got DSL with a Speedstream (Siemens) modem and a Lynksys WRT54GS router, and I'm running Windows XP SP2. Oh, I'm also running Norton Internet Security 2004. I'm also running eMule v.044d.
When I first started trying to figure this out, I found out the IP address I had listed when I did the check on the internet was the IP address for my DSL modem and NOT my computer or even my router. I don't know if this is the way it should be, or not. But I've been going over absolutely everything I can to get this to work, but so far no go. I first did the port forwarding (4661 and 4662 TCP, and 4665 and 4672 UDP) on my router, as listed in the online tutorial. That didn't do anything. It still said I was behind a firewall. Then I got into my Speedstream modem and forwarded the same ports I listed above. That didn't do anything. So I again got in to the modem and completely turned off its security. This didn't do anyting either. I've shut off the Windows firewall completely and, for good measure, opened the proper ports on my machine. Still nothing. My Windows Security Center said Norton was still in effect, so I closed that, but that didn't change what WSC said, or the fact I still couldn't get a high ID.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? I'd really appreciate it.
Best,
-B

i had the same ploblems i done what judoboy wrote down it worked for me here it is in case you carnt find it
This is one of the ways i was able to get the LOWID thing away. Go to start/run then type in command.
once in there type ipconfig. that will tell you the last digits in your ip ex) xxx.xxx.x.102 <---THIS
remember this number. Then open up Internet Explorer and type this ip in the address bar: 192.168.1.1
it will bring up a menu asking you for a Username and password. If you do not know this then type admin for the password in lower case so.
Username:
Password:admin
once in there hit advance on the top right. Then click on DMZ Host in the top middle. A screen with an IP will come up that looks like this
192.168.1.___ where the underline is (blank box) type in the last number of your ip address you got before. After this go to Forwarding on the top menu again. once in there click on Port Triggering on the bottom. then copy this exactly
Application name: eMule
Trigger Port Range: 4660~4712
Incoming Port Range:4660~4712
(yes the same number twice)
click apply and you should be good to go!
This worked for me and has not been tested by anyone else yet. Please tell me if this worked for you or if you have any tips! This is my first tutorial so sorry if it sucks. thanks.
http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm The site above is info on how you can forward ports with routers other then Linksys. It pretty much has all of the main routers and step by step instructions. Enjoy :)

Ste.Red,
Yeah, I tried that. I've even tried downloading different versions of eMule to see if I could get them to work. Still no go. Each version says my port 4662 is unreachable.
Any other thoughts?

I've even gone through and changed the default port settings to those used by battlefield 1942, as suggested above. That didn't work. I turned off my spyware guard protection, and that didn't help anything, either. So far, nothing I've done, and I've done a huge amount listed in this forum has change anything. I'm still firewalled from the Kad network.
You know, I've been doing some testing, and it's my dsl modem that is tracked when emule does a test of my open ports. But the IP address of my modem seems to keep changing. Could this have anything to do with it?
Any help would be appreciated, guys.
Best,
-B

Thanks, Ste.red.
I finally got it last night with the help of Punisher1. He knows what he's talking about, people, seriously. It wasn't Norton. At least, it wasn't entirely Norton. A technician from my ISP told me it would be better to just shut off my Internet Gateway under my Network Connections. This automatically turned off Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), which is apparently necessary for forwarding the proper ports to your router. Once I had UPnP (under my Internet Gateway) running, I was able to set the router to forward the eMule ports to my computer's IP address, and I was able to connect with HighID this morning at about 1 AM EST.
A big thanks to Punisher1, and Ste.red, judoboy and the rest who tried to help me. And I hope what I outlined above may help someone else out.
Best,
-B

ive got an very fast d/l and u/l speed (around 1Mb), winxp firewall is OFF,and...oh yeah: i tested my 4662 and 4672 ports (in preferences) and they try to connect to me via my DNS server instead of my IP! is this kosher? i thought it needed your IP, am i wrong? oh, im running emule .44d, fyi.
thx 4 any help.

I would re-connect your router (especially, since your router has a Firewall built into it). Your computer should be OK with a static IP Address, although, DHCP will work too. What kind of router are you using? If Linksys then I think I can help. This is kind of long but if you complete I think you will be happy.
This is a lengthy process. Please, be patient. You may want to print these instructions (copy/paste on notepad or something).
1. Open emule and click the Preferences button on the Toolbar.
2. Click Connection
3. Change the TCP default Port to 4660.
4. Change the UDP default Port to 4670.
5. You Can click on the Test Ports Button to see if OK. But, if they don?t work it may only be because you have not fully configured everything yet.
6. You can also click the button that says Open these ports on internal XP Firewall (I have not used this because I manually configured the WinXP Firewall, which we will get to later).
7. Click OK at the bottom.
This next step works in conjunction with a Linksys router. I have not tried this on any other router. If you are using a router, other than a Linksys router, I would do this next step anyway.
1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Click on Add/Remove Programs
3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components
4. Scroll down and click on Networking Services
5. Click the Details button
6. Check the box for: Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client
7. Check the box for: UPnP User Interface
8. Click OK then click Next***Note***You may be required to provide your Windows XP CD.
After this is complete Windows XP should automatically install a network Gateway in your Network Connections configuration.
If you are running Windows XP SP2 you need to do the following. If you are not running SP2 then you can skip this next step.
1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Click Windows Firewall
3. Click the Exceptions tab
4. Click the Add Programs button, Scroll down and select Emule. ***If emule is not listed then browse to: C:\Program Files\emule\emule.exe and select emule.exe.
5. Click OK
6. Click Add Port. For the name put Emule TCP and enter the Port 4660. Make sure TCP is selected.
7. Click Add Port. For the name put Emule UDP and enter the Port 4670. Make sure UDP is selected.
8. Close out of the Control Panel.
This next step should work for most routers. This step in particular is defined from a Linksys Router.
1. Go to a command prompt and type: IPCONFIG write down or note your IP Address.
2. Login to your router
3. If Linksys click on the Advanced tab
4. Next click on the Forwarding tab
5. Enter the following settings:
TCP 4660 To 4660 TCP 192.168.1.XXX (your IP Address) Enable(checkbox)
UDP 4670 To 4670 UDP 192.168.1.XXX (your IP Address) Enable(checkbox)
6. Click the Apply button
7. Logout of your router.
That?s It your done.
Open emule and see if you can connect at HighID.
If you still do not connect it may be because you are using a different router. Remember, I?m using a Linksys router but I think the settings are basically the same.
Despite what others write regarding my fix, remember, not all systems are the same. You have to find what works for your system. It works for me and for other?s I?ve helped.
Sorry, if this was not a help.
***Important: No matter what you do NEVER compromise the security of your system. I would NEVER recommend turning off your Firewall(s) to get a HighID for long term use. One exception to turning off a Firewall would be to do a simple test to see if a Firewall is causing the problem. Turn the Firewall back ON as soon as you run your test. If a Firewall is the problem you need to configure Ports to allow access through the Firewall.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if I you have any questions and feedback is welcome.

WOW, THX punisher1! i followed your (necessarily) lengthy walkthrough to the letter, when i realized UPnP was NOT installed (thought i had taken care of that). anyways, i went thru the rest of your checklist, and everything was already as you had requested, but i'm still getting low id... (darn)
i do have a Linksys router, model WRT54GS (Speedbooster model) but i've set it up "wired", 'til i get this solved... oh, and don't worry, i only bypassed my firewall for about 30 sec. to check if THAT was the issue (it wasn't) then it went back up.
btw, MY port forwarding, if this helps anyone else, was listed under "Applications & Gaming" instead of "Advanced". there was another setting: "Port Triggering"? i was unsure about this, so i left it alone. i'd tried every suggestion in this hread, and some on other sites, but to no avail.
i had thought maybe my ISP is blocking some ports? maybe all ports but internet (80)? but even port 80 didnt work in emule. well, if you can think of anything else, i'd love to hear it. THANKS ABUNCH!

Hello guys, I have a B-FOCuS +312 Router. My internet provider set it as a modem by default, but i managed to make it to be a router. I have 2 computers connected to that router( through lan hub), but i get a lowid in emule, when i enter the router setup window i dont have any DMZ, option(from some reason i cant even open ipconfig on my comp)(oh and by the way i have the same ip on both of the computers), so i wanted to know if you guys know something about this modem/router, and how to make a HighId? Another thing i know about that modem is that its a new kind of routers, its written on the cover "Adsl2". If you didnt understand something please ask me, since my english isn't good...
Thanks whoever help.
