Here is a good question. If one drive fails during the burning process, are all discs coasters? Or do the others keep going and finish? I would think nero would have thought of that?

The few times that's happened to me, Nero just keeps burning the other copies.. of course paranoia kicks in and i'll admit to having CRC scanned the copies that didn't fail, just in case.. in my experience the remaining copies were fine, unless of course the failures were triggered by me messing with the pc (ie hard drive went ballistic) during the burn hence all copies would be wrecked..

edit- of course these days, with multi-core machines you can mess with the pc and the burns keep on truckin', you just gotta love multi-cores..

INDEED I do. I would love a quad core. My dual core athlon 5200 does a pretty good job though. NEXT, Its to the black phenom.
I would never trust an intel! every system with one has seemed slower than what ive got. Though I havnt experienced either a dual or a quad intel. When single cores were a thing my 1.4 athlon did things quicker than the 2.0 and the 2.6 intels. Dont ask me how because I dont know. It just seemed more smooth. Less bottlenecking for sure.

I'm only going by what i've read but
Quote:
The Closest comparision to the Athlon 64 5200+ is the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400. It has the same L2 cache size and runs 500mhz slower than the Athlon 64 5200+
however there's very little in it between the two.

..i have a few E6400's as it happens, they're 2.13GHz; they're pretty quick but no way on earth are they a patch on my Q6600....

..anyways, we're wandering off the topic of quality scans here :) ...

Good to know. Here are some DATAWRITE scans. Burned at 4x. Guess the firmware upgrade had no effect on these discs. THEY JUST PLAIN SUCK!!! Unless PI errors arnt too important. Ive seen worse with these. Ive had a scan of these show an average of 1000 PI errors!!!

Well... Attempt #1. I wont post the scans. I ejected the disc without capture, LOL. Take my word, Freakishly LOW errors, LOW failures. LOVE YOU TY. However I will show my FRAGMENTATION capture. I fear that MAY be a factor in my SLOW burn rate. It took 16min 30 sec to burn 2 discs at 8X. 8X usually takes only 8min 26sec on this machine. So it basically averaged less than 4X on both drives simultaneously. I suppose its possible that SINCE it was my OS drive, + it was fragmented, it could have atleast a little to do with the burn time. SUGGESTIONS???

hmmm... not sure why the thumbnail?

omegaman did you use Nero Ultimate in your attempt at burning more than one disc at a time? If so it chooses the burn speed that both burners "agree" on for the burn. I've been thru this as well and normally the speed is 4x or 6x depending on the situation. I've never had a speed more than 6x for my different burners. Of course when you run 4 at once and it spits them out in about 12 minutes that's an average of 3 minutes per disc. Pretty speedy if you ask me. :)

I've done some "fun" burns in the last day or so and I'll post those today some time me thinks. 20x burns and you people might be surprised at the results. And NO I don't normally do this but it's fun to push your drive now and then. I'll post a couple at CDF too. Those guys are truly Freaks. lol.

I believe its Nero ULTRA. Is there a difference? Its 8.3.6.0
Im just gonna try my fals 1TB drive tonight after I burn ALOT of data off it. Been procrastinating quite a bit. Got well over a hundred iso's on it. Some in their raw format, others compressed waiting to be burned. I was afraid to Defrag before burning the more important ones. Ive had defragmenting screw things up in the past. NOTHING SERIOUS, but... projects saved in dvd builder (Roxio), were screwed up. My guess would be, the program refers to sectors on a harddrive and when data is moved...

Defragmenting is perfectly safe; it'd take forever for you though with 100 odd ISO's, it'd be better to butn loads of them off/delete, and then attack some defragmenting..

I wouldnt say perfectly safe. But your right. Most the time it is harmless. TRUST ME, defragmenting in roxio 6, caused me to lose my project. Dont ask me how, but im certain defragmenting caused it.
I dont think it would take too long. This drive is freakin NUTS. Write speed, Awesome. Read speed, Awesome. Transfering to/from my other sata drive is insane fast. It averages 80-90MB. NO RAID. I think thats pretty darn decent.

Keep in mind that Roxio and Nero don't always get along with each other, so be careful as it can cause serious problems with your computer. One of them would give a warning message if you tried to install it with the other already installed, but the other didn't. It's been a while so I don't remember which one gave the warning. All sorts of Blue Screens of Death and lock-ups! I had to wipe the hard drive and start over!

Really? Ive done it before. Dont recall a problem. Not interested in running both programs anymore though. Nero suits my needs, and roxio is just plain too buggy. I bought roxio 6 in 03 or 04 and just installed it on my brothers system and it wont acknowledge his dvd burner as the system recorder. I tried several methods to no avail. Its believed that version 6 is sooo outdated that new burners arnt supported by vers. 6.

It may have had something to do with the hardware or In-CD, as I had run them together before but it just blue screened all over the place. When I reinstalled everything, I had installed Roxio and when I went to install Nero, I got the warning! (finally remembered) Software conflicts are pretty rare today though!

Hmm... Ive encountered similar errors with other programs. One not liking the other. Battling one now. Discspeed doesnt like it when I eject other discs NOT being scanned. Can multitask like crazy but if I hit eject... Do not pass go. :)

I would take creaky's word for it. When your defrag program hits all those ISOs the speed will fall on its face, especially if you are using Windows default defragmenter. Just my two cents.

Speaking of, "Windows default defragmenter", would you recommend "Smart Defrag"? Im looking for a way to defrag either in batch, or simultaneously, multiple drives. ????????????
Im looking at SMART DEFRAG now. http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/09/25/...h-smart-defrag/

Ouch, i haven't been near a Windows default defragger in donkey's years, i use Diskeeper personally.
As i have so many drives (half of which are backup drives btw) i tend to only turn most or all of them on in one sitting, and let Diskeeper defrag them all at once.

I think it's pretty much memory limited anyway, so it's not going to run much faster regardless of what you use. It can only move so much data at a time!

I sincerely apologize about the Off topic. I get to talking/typing sometimes and can't stop. Heres some eye candy! :)
This is a TYG02 8X valuline, burned at supposed 12x. I say supposed because it only saved me 1min. NOT a bad scan!

I do have some 16x TY's. They can burn at 20X +, Been reserving them for whatever reason. Guess they're special. Supermedia screwed up and sent me the BETTER ones. MUCH OBLIGED.

Well... I guess I wont be burning at that speed again. My POOR LITEY. It sounded like it was doing TRANSWARP! As you can see from the scan, about the area it crossed the 16X threshold It began increasing in both PI errors as well as failures. Still a decent scan considering. Oh... and I guess 20x is currently the max for these discs and my config. 5 min 3 sec. WOW WOW WOW! quickest burn time ive had. had I set it at 16X though, I Probably wouldn't have experienced the errors/failures, and only would have taken another 30 sec.
