wow, thats unusual for TY, HUH. 25 failures? WOW.
Im impressed cincyrob. It only took it 3min 20 sec longer than it should have. Your buffers must have been pretty strong. I only burned 2 recently and took much longer than that. Though my drives are fragmented from all the simultaneous ripping ive been doing :)

Yeh it's what I thought too. I will say this batch of TYG03 discs are from the first batch that were produced afaik. I'm gonna do a couple more of the 20x burns with MCC 004 media and see what happens. Until tomorrow. ;)

Some people may find this interesting. Both of these discs had visable flaws in the shield protecting the dye. I always blow my discs off and visually inspect them. When something didnt blow away, I about through it in the trash but I thought, well thats pretty small, lets see what happens. The top one I marked an area where the flaw in the shield was ROUGHLY. The bottom one, one of the best scans ive seen had multiple spots on the shield. Both of these discs were on the bottom of the cake package. Though they were in a tapewrap for shipment. Well... I guess even before burning there can be flaws/scratches! I LOVE YOU TY

very nice looking scans. gotta love them TY's.you say the disc have some DYE spots on the disc. try a scandisc on it in nero. it will tell you if the spots are bad enough to have any read errors.
GM
you sure you didnt have those scans backwards??? a c-mag haven TY scores and a TY haven c-mag scores????lol

Not bad for what they are Robert. ;) I'm not a fan of Ritek but some do well with them. I'll do some more burns and see what I get. Maybe even a multi-burn as well. It's so fun to see 4 spin up at once. :D

Those are valulines. I wanted to give the premiums a shot.
Well... Simultaneous burn #2 yielded only 15sec saved time after complete defrag. Virtually NO FRAGMENTATION! Is it possible that my ram causes this. Does ram come into play while burning? Usually I buy kingston, or crucial, but when I built this badboy, Gskill was looking pretty tempting. I have 2gb worth of 6400. Any suggestions?

omegaman I don't think that your RAM could be holding you back like you think. What exactly do you want to do and why? NOT being a smarty pants here, trying to find out where you're coming from. ;) I personally have Crucial, Mushkin, OCZ, and some other "no name" stuff. lol. PNY and Centon to be exact. lol. None of it is bad some I'm happy. I wouldn't have any issues recommending OCZ, Mushkin, Corsair, or Kingston; but Crucial has given some of my buddies issues so it's off the list. Of course G.Skill is ok but again I don't have it.

Perhaps its some kindof syncing issue. Because if both drives were consistently hitting 8X simultaneously, it wouldnt take 16+ minutes, it would only take 8min26sec give or take. My harddrive wasn't busting its but either. Its a WD FALS 1TB drive. NOT THE GREEN DRIVE. The HD led light was blinking. ordinarily when I burn one disc, its solid red for the duration.

Here's the scans of the burns.
I used some MBIPG101 R05 discs. I'm not completely trusting of doing 4 at once to use some quality media. I've done it a few times and nothing has happened that should worry me but I'm NOT loosing 4 discs at once... NO frikkin way. lol.
Used Nero 6.6.0.18 and it chose 6x for some reason. I think it took 16 minutes or so. An average of 1 disc every 4 minutes. :D Scanned using Nero CD/DVD Speed 7.7.7.16.

well now. I bumped the speed down to 6X and it went quicker. Guess my harddrive didnt like 8x double burn. 12min50sec. If im not mistaken, thats only 2min longer than it should be. Buffer underruns
were pretty low, not too many. I wonder if a RAID array would have better luck. I have been itching to build one. Probably go Raid 1 for that killer read speed. Raid 0 just sounds too risky. If I had 4 of these FALS 1tb drives in raid 1... I believe the connection would be maxed out. Any more than that would be pointless. These scans arnt too bad, but I noticed that either the sony burned oddly, or there was a defect in the recording dye. It LOOKS very odd. I may not trust it!
I suppose they're still reasonable scans though. :(

I just ran some searching about the identical pif's, and I guess its simply possible that my batch has some identical dye problems, MORE OR LESS. I certainly hope that NERO didnt cause my Pif's! mmm... Here is something odd if you'll excuse the crudity of this example. Obviously I cant scan the discs dye side, Hmmm... i'll try that.
Ok... I scanned it and i'll post it. here it is. But know this. The outer burned area (Full burn) is actually substantially different than the inner area. Meaning color variation. Its off by SEVERAL TONES! See the ring near the outer area? Thats what has me concerned! The burn quality has already been posted. But just incase its easier, here is it also.

you might try taking a photo of the disc in question. I've done that and it works but you may have to snap a few to get the image you're looking for. ;) I think that LOCO and I posted some images a few pages back... I'll if I can find them. ;)

add: I couldn't find the post so I'll just post them again. :P Used the url as to not take up more space. lol. These pix show the dye "run" and I didn't even try to use them. I was going to give them a shot but didn't feel like wasting time. :P

Please note to newbies that this is NOT a typical TY scan. I believe my sony drive to be the culprit! My next and final attempt before I chuck the drive is burning with imgburn SOLELY. I dont like blaming the simultaneous burn, but I dont know what else it could be. I dont believe in coincidences, so either the drive is going or nero simultaneous burn is effecting it. It never did this before! As you can see, the effected area is even larger this time!

Was that a racist comment?? lol.
They were Riteks if memory serves, which makes them Taiwanese. I'm out now and don't plan on getting any more. lol. Of course I paid very little for them and there were about 5-6 bad discs out of 2 50 packs. OD labeled discs btw. :P Oh and they were either $7.99 or $9.99 a 50 pack. :D

well... Not quite where I want it to be but not too bad. Really raises the question on nero. Gonna have to try either nero 9 or, an older clean install. Ive been considering a fresh windows install anyway. Several programs I dont wanna run anymore, as well as ones I do wanna run, As well as switching to X64bit operating. then I can run all my drives. :)

Ok, Now your talking. I had to be sure. Im really leaning toward my drive being the culprit. Oddly it only does it during MULTI BURN. This is from a different package. This is a silver printable TYG02. These normally get better scans then the regular ty's.
I still notice at the lead in, that a similar ROUGH burn is there. Its been doing that from the get go, it just didnt occur to me til now. This drive may have to step down like I made the last drive. I made it solely my reader/ripper. Yes, Im screwing with STYLEXP! :) Its rather sad too. This sony has only seen 100 maybe more. THATS NOT MUCH SONY. My lite-on has seen atleast that. Maybe I'll try that Optiarc. I suppose I could buy another one at walmart and KICK ITS woo hoo, and then exchange it if it slips.
