Let's get this thread back on track, there's off-topic, then there's way off-topic. Didn't see the thread title 'Official Adriana Lima letching society' or realise we were now selling DVD burners on Afterdawn.

As DocTY hasn't featured in this thread and it's always so way off topic i can see it being closed in the very near future.

most everything on this thread ends up connected back to ty somehow, and if it isnt there generally isnt a full page of none relevant info. that doesn't warrant a shutdown in my opinion, its a laid back thread. of course like i said thats my opinion and im not admin at all so don't take it the wrong way, admin is here for a reason if you think we are way off topic then i guess we are. :(

we will try harder!!!

btw the duramark markers i bought from amazon.com are working perfectly with the silver lacquer ty valulines

When there are those who want to learn... I say let them learn- the price of know how is a selden walk down a rabbit trail. Is it the thread or the value of those who take their time and pleasure to feed into one another other? I belong to a few threads and say little because I know little... BUT this thread is with out a doubt the most learning thread there is other then the PC building thread [For me any ways] ...I love media and I love the know how offered here...

Is there a need of supervison...you bet! BUT the big wigs must remember that its about the little people that are just tryen to learn... why take down something thats worken...0 I mean dont fix something thats profitable...

Sorry if I offend...thats not my intention.

Creaky: I understand and in many respects agree with your point of view. Sometimes we get way off the point. But many of us would have been discoouraged long ago with the complexities of burning dvds, if it hadn't been for the help of a lot of people on this thread. They make it easy for those of us who are technically illeterate to expose our ignorance because of their kindness and lack of judgementalism. I am willint to put up with some peripheral bad taste, over technical inter nos communications and other irrelavancies, because the pluses far, far outnumber the minueses. I have a certain confidence that when I get into a bind about certain computer issues I can depend on a bunch of people who willingly offer their help. I am certain that there and a lot of others out there using this thread who feel the same. I want to thank all those who offer their help on this thread, including you for taking responsibility for keeping the focus on the core meaning of the thread.

I can understand wanting to actually moderate one's forums, I mean, I've seen those that aren't, and they do get out of control rather quickly. I think creaky's point is well-made, and he did clarify there's off-topic and there's WAY off-topic. A bit of off-topic is integral to this thread, as it's made it accessible to people who are new and are looking for some people who are friendly enough to help them learn the ropes (and of course I was one of those people not too many months ago). I'm of course still learning, but this is the thread I like to keep up with, as it's a wonderful mix of good media, good hardware, good computing tips related to producing good burns, and last but not least, good clean fun. However, I think the important thing is not to let the fooling around somehow overshadow the more important message of what media out there is the best, and where the best value for the money is to be found. Other threads on AD accomplish this also, to some degree, but I really do enjoy this thread more than most.

Well said delateur..

I think you (we) may be getting a little over protective of the docTY thread. If I read creaky's post right he just wants us to stay near topic and that topic is TY media in general. If it relates to TY then basically we can post whatever we like. Burning, reading, physical characteristics, where to get it, when the new stuff is coming out and where to get it, printables and non-printables, and so on. You guys get the point.

Like I said, I think he was just trying to do his job and get us back on topic or more to the point TALKING about TY media. :D

Creaky please add if need be. :)

....gm

ON TOPIC: I'm looking for a GREAT deal on some YUDEN000 T03's (DVD+R 16X). Any one seen or heard of anything? I'm in the US as you know so links to Europe won't help me but they might help someone else. :D

@greensman

The best buy on the TY Yuden000 T03s that I can find depends on shipping. SMS has 'em for 0.45 shipped while @ Rima they're 0.38 + Shipping and Meritline has 'em for 0.40 + shipping. All in a 100 ct tape wrap. I'd give Rima a try first.

gm, was it you that got the same pack from TY or was it cincyrob?

I just stumbled across this on a german media supplier. Anyone think these might make it to the US?

DVD+R 8.5GB DUAL LAYER DL weiss bedruckbar Tinte Taiyo Yuden

Artikel-Nr.: 102730
Hersteller: Taiyo Yuden
Hersteller-Nr.: DL-R85WPP600SK8
Inhalt je VPE: 1 Stück
Gewicht je VPE: 0.020 kg
VPE je Karton: 1 VPE
Mindestbestellmenge: 1 VPE

I'm wondering if they have this product mislabeled as +R when it should be -R.

These were listed as a new product for September.

Looks like the same TY -R DLs listed before. Maybe they just got their new shipment or started carrying them.

@cincyrob: Pretty good? That's darned near perfect in my opinion! Since you're able to measure all possible quality levels with that particular drive, it's pretty rare to get above a 95%. The PIE and PIF charts look AMAZING. I'd love to see how one of those does at maximum speed. I've been burning my Verbatim 16X +Rs at max for awhile now with Imgburn and I'm very happy with the results, and I'd expect no less from TYs.

b2r you'll like 'em.... :) I've used plenty of them and I've only experienced a few "oh-oh's". I'm pretty sure I did the "oh-oh" tho. LOL.

btw I've used the TYG02 and TYG03 value-line TY's if you're curious. BOTH were just fine... :)

- indeed; i'm very tolerant, i only pounce in the non-console forums when there's a need to. Let's be honest, it would be excellent if forums would self-moderate or have no need for moderation (and as i often post about, i'm a member of a few work-related forums where moderators are either non-existent or invisible). Unfortunately however, mods are necessary here, and as such we keep the streets clean. I'm absolutely all for information (in fact i spend a good part of each work day on the internet absorbing info), i'm not out to deprive anyone of info, it's just when threads get abused that i get annoyed. If threads like this are so important then the people who get so attached to the threads should bear in mind it's thread abusers who are the bad guys, NOT moderators.

I even get moaned at when i close slow-loading threads and replace with new thread (such as this very thread in fact) - which is daft especially as i post the reasons for doing so, in the threads for all to see.
