If the video can be encoded at all then there has to be some version of MPEG2DEC3 being used, so it's unlikely that's the problem. I've seen a few reports of people who seem to have problems with some version of CCE, where it does encode, but the results look like crap. Sometimes this appears to be solved by changing versions, either from CCE Basic to CCE SP (which doesn't make any sense to me) or from a trial to a full version (makes even less sense). I suspect, but can't say for sure, that these problems are actually either problems with files that other programs may have replaced, or even just Windows issues that we may never be able to figure out (certainly Microsoft isn't much help with such things).
There are a couple of things I would try. First, open one of the AVS files in your working directory directly in a media player. If it looks fine then it's almost certainly a CCE problem. If it doesn't look fine I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling AviSynth. Also, if you've installed any other programs that use AviSynth (like DVD2DVDR, DVD2SVCD, or Gordian Knot) you should uninstall those. If you still have AviSynth problems after all that, it may be necessary to find any AviSynth related information in the registry (after uninstalling it) and remove them before reinstalling.
If it's not an AviSynth problem, I have to think it may not be fixable without completely reinstalling Windows. I don't like telling people to try that just to evaluate a program, but unfortunately one of the hallmarks of Windows (especially XP) is that things often break for no apparent reason, and it's usually hard to even figure out what's broken, let alone how to fix it.

Thanks for the response. Heres some info:
(1) mpeg2dec3dg.dll is in the same folder as rebuilder.
(2) The avisynth folder has mpeg2dec3dg.dll in the plugins
(3) Used DVD Decrpter to rip into my hard drive. So theres no encryption.
(4) By AVS files, are you meaning the source files? Those work well with a media player program. But the m2v files and the VIDEO_TS are the problematic files. I don't have other programs which use AviSynth.I will try to reinstall AviSynth and try it out as well.

I wouldn't really call the AVS files the source files since the source is actually the original DVD that's been ripped to the hard drive. The AVS files are the AviSynth scripts that read the source files and framserve them to CCE. They're in the same directory as the M2V files and they end with an extension of AVS. If those are the files you're talking about then I'd say AviSynth isn't your problem, although reinstalling certainly shouldn't hurt anything.

bappida69...
I have found that downloading a lot of different trial softwares, especially freewares, ultimately causes problems within my Win2k OS. I don't have any "go back" feature installed, and so I have come to realize that doing a periodic reformat/reinstall is just part of using a computer.
For what it's worth, I use Basic CCE 2.69, RB .56, and AviSynth .54. I've needed to do 3 installations within the past 3 to 4 weeks, and all have worked flawlessly (2 for me, 1 for my son). It's always a challenge, and sometimes fun, to find a problem, but sometimes it just can't be done. If you've done everything right according to the guide, it may be time to look at a reinstall.

What is the size of the TS folder contents.
Did you start a fresh encode with an empty folder?

Definitely. A simple "thank you for your help" is always appreciated. If you can help out someone else later on that's even better.

I had started on an empty folder. The original movie was 5.62 GB. When I started DVD RB, I chose just two audio tracks(there were three initially). After it was rebuilt, the TS folder was about 3.2 GB and the VIDEO_TS was avout 3.5 GB or so(it seemed to have the entire movie)

Hmmm... something isn't right, mine ALWAYS come out about 4.3 to 4.4.
I don't want to sound like a stuck record, but have you tried CCE 2.67, and did you update rebuilder?

bappida, sorry yeah, I meant gigs. Thanx soph.
BTW, you can get the 2.67 version of CCE, you just have to follow it out a little from the 2.69 Download.
That thread is here somewhere, can someone please list the URL for it? I can't find the damn thing! :0

FYI, I've only used the latest 2.69 version with RB and after more than 60 backups not one coaster(except for that copy of DareDevil I butchered with DVDremake). I've never understood why anyone would use a lower version unless the app requires it. I also have the 2.67 version but only because 2.69 won't work with DVD2DVD-R and I'm still playing with it.

Soph, This is what I understand, 2.69 never worked for me. When I switched to 2.67 it has never not worked for me. I am not the only one.
Besides you just stated that you're using 2.67 with dvd2dvdr. There is an instance in itself where you are doing the same thing. heh heh
Another example, Nero recode with their update before the last update completely would not work, had sizing issues, even craig for Nero told me this. It wasn't until this last update the problems were corrected.
Just because it's an update doesn't mean it's better, only that it's supposed to be better.
Understand? LOL

The only reason I use 2.67 with DVD2DVD-R is that it doesn't recognize anthing above that at all, if it recognized 2.69 I wouldn't use 2.67. Those who use 2.69 include, 6402, jdobbs, and me and none of us are having problems.:) I agree and update doesn't always mean that it's better but it doesn most often.

@Pop_Smith .... The following was posted by jdobbs on August 13 on this thread:
Quote: A note to everyone. Don't use CCE SP v2.67.00.27 with DVD-RB. It has inconsistencies and doesn't work correctly. You are doing one pass encoding because the ECL is being misread as CBR. The output can also be massively oversized, or you may possibly have to answer a settings or "Save" prompt dozens of times before saving.
This is a problem with CCE -- they have apparently changed the meaning of some of their ECL parameters -- although the details aren't completely known yet. Cinemacraft has a terrible habit of changing these things without rhyme or reason as to why. My best guess is that any fix to make that version work will have to be done either by ECLCCE or a combination of ECLCCE and DVD-RB.
In the meantime, anyone who uses CCE SP v2.67.00.27 is on his/her own... my suggestion is "don't."
