I was going to say, I'd be surprised if existing popular coolers didn't just come out with adapters for the new socket.

I think that would only work with coolers with a large enough heatsink surface to cover the chip, as it's physically a good bit larger. With many of the present day coolers an adapter wouldn't work!

Tower coolers like the Ultra-120 have very big bases so they can fit with AMDs, It surprised me just how much bigger my X2 4200+ was than an Intel 775 chip!

Good for creaky changing that pic to a link - don't you guys have little graphics programs that can scale your pics to 800 pixels wide? (shaff) LOL (sam let shaff load that little program I sent you.)
Ok, Russ, you've got admin's blessing - see you later, dude. Hey, you came back - good!! So did we all finally decide to buy Chevrolets, or was it Pontiacs??? Or is it somewhat of a personal choice. Greeny said to behave, that sounds good to me. Definitely, overclocking is wayyyyy not for everybody - "12 clicks is all it takes" - 12 clicks to the unitiated and untrained cause the entire thing to go up in smoke. LOL
And as for Rick, let me get the hell out of the way when he takes a wuss - 10 to 15 feet - do you have a pump on the thing!! :D

Quote: To me this thread has gone way off course. This to me is supposed to be a PC building thread not the overclocking thread and not the persuasion thread of building other than what was posted. I for one have not seen a decent reply other than don't use AMD but use Intel or this MOBO other than what was posted because of overclocking etc. etc.Not everyone is a gamer and I thought this thread was for a person building his or her PC for their own specfic reasons.I'll use whatever hardware I prefer and not have a person preaching to me about how much it'll cost me to run it for a year or spend more money than allotted because it's more bang for the buck on features I'll never use, along with how much more quieter it is. I for one love the sound of the fans cranked up. A few people hijack every thread with out a significant answer to the original OP. The pissing matches are going to far out for what this threads supposed to be.To build a system with decent onboard graphics rather than the expense of a video card that I don't need the extra expense of is a waste of words to me. I do want to hear first hand experience not a link to another outside report from else where, that's like taking a magazines word as gold. My two cents to the outspoken few.
I agree whole heartily with only perhaps one small exception. If the OP asks about graphic card speeds then members should answer it. If they are interested in overclocking then they should be redirected to the overclocking thread.
This thread has become a slow moving chat room dedicated to a few and that can turn away someone who is really looking for help away.

Wow, price looks good! I wonder what the thermal transfer capability of that device is, which I guess would be watts of cooling, the reliability, and the noise from the fans. And what exactly happens when temps get too high - they mention some kind of warning. What cards would you be trying to cool?

Are you looking to water cool a couple of graphics card GPUs' in Xfire or SLI? If not then it's not what you are looking for because it's a closed system that is not meant for processors.

That's OK Rick we all overlook things at one time or another, that's why we ask questions in forums. CoolerMaster does indeed make a closed CPU water cooling kit that is not too bad and affordable.

I also live in Florida and I order parts from this site when I need them.

This is the WC system that I'm interested in. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108105 They say that you need a radiator kit to mount it on the outside of the case, but common sense will tell you that if you just reverse the internal installation, with the radiator mounted on the outside. it should work just fine. I see no point or advantage in having all that heat inside the case, as it just puts more strain on effective case cooling!

Russ

Quote: Sophocles..THEY are out of Stock
it happens a lot! LOL
I have two of the previous version still in a box unused. They went on sale about a two years ago and I couldn't resist. Donald (6402640) purchased one and swore by them so I grabbed a couple and then went to something far more sophisticated. Go figure. LOL

Last I heard was he's doing fine, it just that his priorities have changed for a while. Other things that need doing!

Good stuff.
Are there restrictions on which AM2 chips you can stick in geforce 6100 boards? My mate's fileserver could do with an upgrade from a Sempron :)
