In my opinion..they pretty much are the same quality..verb's are getting quite pricey and taiyo's are priced cheap..i would go with taiyo's because you can get 200 discs for about the same price as 50 verbs..only downfall is you have to order online. but with supermediastore.com you'll get your discs in about 2 days..well worth the wait.

as long as you have a top of the line chip you'll have no worries..watch out for cheap chips because you get what you pay for..look into the matrix infinity chip..

Dont double post just because you havent been answered yet!!
If you are using DVD Decrypter then when you go to read mode you will end up with 2 files one wil be an ISO and the other will be a MDS. If you are getting a zip file from an original game then you are not using dvd decrypter.
Once you have those 2 files, ISO-MDS (not zip) go to mode/iso/write, choose your ISO file and hit the button, burn at 4x.
IF for some reason you are still getting a zip and a mds then burn the mds
Im guessing those zip files are from downloads, if so then unzip them
But to tell you the truth that answer was in this thread, and if you are downloading dont ask what to do next cause it is answered here too

You need to learn patience, your time between posts was like 30 minutes...calm down. If you bothered to read AT ALL you wouldn't need to post that quickly!
1.You have a modchip.....swap magic does not apply to you.
2.+RW does not work on the ps2, +R or -R does.
3.Read page 1 on how to use Decrypter and/or imgburn....that is the least you can do(jeez PROBLEMS explained it on this page!!).
4.Dont post about downloading games, nobody cares and it just does not look good on your part.

I dont own a mod chipped ps2, but there should be a bios screen of some sort. If you don't load a backup when you start your ps2, are you taken to a bios screen, such as toxic os? I don't think it is possible to tell you what modchip you have unless you take apart your ps2 or can identify your bios. Sorry I cant be more help with that one, perhaps somebody else knows of a method to identify your chip beyond what I said. The bottom line if you can play backup dvd5 as well as dvd9 it is good, I dont care who makes it!
If you post your chip I can easily tell you its quality though. Have you successfully made a backup yet?

This might sound a little crazy, but burn at 4x? Lol
Does your drive not support 4x? If not it might be time to spend $30 on a new drive lol, if your drive supports nothing over 2x for dvd's then I am pretty sure it is not a good drive.

No no I said the DVD-R disc I have it cannot be burnt at 2x. It can only be burnt at 4x,8x,16x. This information was displayed by DVD decrypter.
Also I burnt the game on a DVD-R disc and it worked on my ps2 but the game got stuck at the loading part. What did I do wrong?
Thanks.

First thing i'm gonna ask is what brand of dvd-r did you use. The majority of us use verbatim (available at best buy) or Taiyo Yuden (supermediastore.com) ps2 lasers are picky and although they will play any brand disc..they wont do it @ 100% because of the quality of disc..get verbatims and you wont have any trouble..burn @ 4x NO MATTER WHAT..i have a matrix infinity chip. when i boot my ps2 it says matrix..and when i put in a game it says what version matrix chip i have when the playstation 2 logo pops up..i'm sure i can go into bio's but i dont wanna mess with that..like stang said..if it plays backups who cares what chip it is..

Hi everyone i'm new here,I want to ask some help from you cause as it seems you're almost expert by my side, anyway.
I am trying to copy a original game(God of War ps2,i had rent it for couple days),but when I am finish with the read...,the iso file is 7,80GB(!)and the mds file 8.22
but as everyone know the blank DVD is 4,7gb.
Well when i started the ''iso -> write'' it dispays me a message : "There doesn't apper to be enough space on the disc to burn image.
Image size:4.093.488 Sectors
Disc size:2.297.888 Sectors
Would you like to continue anyway?
I pressed "Yes" ,And at around 50% an error came up,and tryied by pressing repetition many times, nothing happen, and finaly the operation canceled.I noticed that after all this the half writed DVD disc was 3,99gb(the max that it could i suppose)
I had copyied Scarface at the past sucesfully,I am using DVD Decrypter
What am i doing wrong?:(
I apreciate very much any answers,so plz answer....,thanks in advance!

search in this forum, there is several threats describing how to back up GOW, it is a doble layer DVD so has to be special way

you have 2 options with GOW2
you can either buy dual layer discs if you have a dual layer burner, and your chip supports dual layer dvds, there is a patch from TOXIC that you can put in the iso for use with the DMS modchip, not sure if it works with all chips though
or
you can rebuild the game, pain in the butt in my opinion, i know that the rebuild info is on this site
