You had rent it because your bought original is giving you problems?
I hope that's the case cause rent and burn is a no-no - piracy.
To make your stay here enjoyable check out the rules link in my sig.

you can either buy dual layer discs if you have a dual layer burner, and your chip supports dual layer dvds, there is a patch from TOXIC that you can put in the iso for use with the DMS modchip, not sure if it works with all chips though
or
you can rebuild the game, pain in the butt in my opinion, i know that the rebuild info is on this site
i had my guide removed, was not worth the potential trouble.

I use SONY DVD-R discs. R they not good enough? Or is it possible that there is an error in the ISO file I downloaded?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks everyone for your replys!
Yes binkie7 you've right,i wasn't exact on what i was writing(i will check our rules).
After burning(as i had mention before)I tried Play it on my ps2(which has(MATRIX-INFINITY v1.92 , mod chip)and it was working fine(!),except that it couldn't no way save game or load
I had used Emtec DVD+R,now i will try one more time using Emtec DVD-R and TDK DVD-RW.
To PROBLEMS:I don't have dual layer burner unfortunately,do you mean that because of the size of game is the error? If yes then why was nearly to work? :/
You get what you give...

to niels01 sony makes great products..except for blank media.. so the answer is no sony isnt good media..hey i used to buy sony, maxell, memorex..even staples brand.. they work for cd's and dvd's but not for long..the materials they use to make the discs are cheap and breakdown, which causes skips and such..when i say that verbatims and taiyo yudens are the best it's not just my opinion..it's a stated fact..most brand name blanks have a life span of 1 year in perfect condition till they start breaking down. i know taiyo yuden states their discs will last 100 years..i think you should go to best buy and pick up a 50 pack of verbatim 16x discs (8x discs are hard to find) burn them @ 4x and you'll have a 100% working disc. once you see how great verbatims work then you can upgrade to taiyo yudens by simply going to supermediastore.com and buy a 200 pack for $40.00 that should hold you over for a while. keep the sonys for dvd's or storing computer data. also DO NOT PUT LABELS ON DISCS..use a marker..labels make discs skip..just letting you know..

I am having a problem. To purchase the Verbatim discs I need to have a credit card or online account. Since I have neither so I cannot have them. But one thing I don't understand is how can a ps2 differentiate between a cheap and a good quality disc?

Thanks for the information! Really appreciable. But it says that Sony DVD discs are also 1st grade discs along with Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden.
Then I believe I can use sony to write games for ps2. Also I wrote a game on a SONY DVD-R and it worked!!! I think the problem is with iso and not with the DVD. Any suggestions?

the only good sonys are the ones with matching disc ids, sony name doesnt always mean its a sony disc, but basically just use what works for you, chances are you wont be playing this same game in a years time so the choice is up t you
as far as iso, you are always better off using an origonal over a dl

Problems is absolutely right.. you have to watch where you get your games too because some sites have a lot of garbage..with an original disc you know what you have and won't have to worry about viruses and such..often they'll release beta versions of upcoming games and they're not very stable at all..some are fake..that's why i don't bother messing with downloads..plus it's illegal as hell.. but like i said about verbatims..just go to best buy..are you in the USA? with verbatims you know you're getting a 100% quality disc.. sony and other brands just stamp their name on whatever crap they cant get their hands on..but if your batch of sony blanks is top quality then cool..but just to let you know the next batch could be garbage..i'm gonna private message you so check your PM's..

If you buy them from a reputable shop you should be good. Check the label - Verbatims are usually made in Taiwan or those lucky UK'ers sometimes made in Japan.
Once you buy them - id them - here's a free tool - dvd identifier.
They should id as MCC or the made in Japan id as Taiyo Yuden.

Ok here is what I'am trying to accomplish. I Live in the US,and have a game that I want to backup the only thing is that its PAL region code only. When I go to mode and then select source i pick my DvD burn drive. After that I select where i want to save the file at and select save. The program appears non responsive and doesnt show the green icon to decrypt. Is it already in the process or did it freeze.I've been backing up games for awhile now and normally all these threads answermy questions but not this one. What am i doing wrong *sigh*.

I think that you will need to download a converter & the converter will convert your PAL to the standard format NTSC. If I am not mistaken.. I had a problem similar to that and I used a ps2_palntsc_yfix patch...

OK. If you're just trying to back up the game to a normal ISO file, DVD Decryptor should get the job done regardless of it's code. What software are you using to back it up? If you are using DVD Decryptor, then there might be a problem with the DVD or the burner. Just take it out and try it again. See if the dsic needs cleaning. You need to have it in READ mode for it to work if this is the software you're using.
Hope that helps.

Well I have a HP DvD burner, it's about 3+ years old. and yes I have DvD Decrypter and have never had a problem. I tested another game which is a japan game and got a different response and i did. This is a Format: PAL (UK Standard)only game iam trying to back up. Here is a bit of info about the dis there has a code on itA0100825622-0101 18 which is in the inner dircle where the playstation 2 logo is at, not sure if that will help or not.
also on the bottom of DvD Decrypter is says not a DvD. Soooo I'am still stuck.
