Thanks Shaggy! Look forward to hearing back from you.
One other thing, when it says to DL the firmware you want(the one you want the POPS from), does that mean I need to DL all the FW from 3.00-3.72 and put all those eboot.pbp files into the root menu?
If i read right, those are the only POPS that a psx game plays on anyway.....?
Also, sort of unrelated. When I'm told I need a certain kernel(3.xx or 4.xx) and I go into my recovery menu, I only have 5.00 and 1.5. Do I need to get the others from somewhere or am i ok since I have 5.00?

Hi I am new to the popsloader scene but I need to get it running for my PSP CFW 5.03 in order to play Final Fantasy VIII. First off, would I have to downgrade my PSP CFW in order to use a certain Popsloader? Or do I just have to download the popsloader I need? If I found a guide that covered this I wouldn't ask but I haven't found one yet. If someone could help me with this it would be awesome.

the whole point of popsloader is so you don't have to changed the vsersion os cfw you have by downgrading so all your need is the popsloader .prx files of the firmwares you want to use.
links are in my signature if the link is still dead when you read this just give it a day or two because i'm not sure when i'll have the time to upload it.

Do you DL all the FW you want from above and put each eboot.pbp in the root menu?(i'm referring to step 4) If so, do i need 3.00, 3.01, 3.02, etc or what?

What I need to know is, how to do select a different firmware than what was originally selected. The popsloader loads automatically whenever I open a PSX game but with this one game I got doesn't even ask what firmware I would like to try and run the game on. I imagine I may have a bad rip of the game and may have to find another one somewhere else. Any help would be appreciated.

Hold down R while starting the game and a list of fw will show up.
Now check this site for PSX on PSP compatibility list. good luck :)

You rock, thank you very much. Somehow the game still blacks out after the whole P.O.P.S PLaystation Bios screen so I'd image I'm just going to have to find another rip of the game somewhere.

yea if your getting that screen then its from an eboot that was made awhile ago for the lower firmwares so you need another psx eboot.

I followed the steps (well most of them, I cheated with the pop files) but I cannot get popsloader to work :(
Notes: I have on my memstick a folder called seplugins, this contains popsloader.txt, popsloader.prx and another folder called popsloader with 68 .prx files inside.
My PSP is a PSP-1003 and runs firmware 5.00 m33-6. When I start a game (FF-VI) I see a popsloader screen for 5 seconds while it loads SCPH100.BIN file (although there are no .bin files on my memorystick) and exits with error 80010002.
:(
A really n00by n00blet...

Either you did not install popsloader exactly as it was stated on this and/or other instruction on how to use popsloader..or you don't have popsloader...ohh and don't forget to enable poploader on recovery mode..its in plugins.

So I followed this guide and installed popsloader, but when I went to the recovery menu and to plug-ins to activate it showed nothing... the page was blank cept for the back button.
Can anyone help me plez, I have CFW 5.00 M33-6 also

you didn't install the plugin properly or are missing pops.txt in your seplugins folder so download the popsloader pack in my signature to solve your problem.

I did, and I still have the same problem.
But also when I install the CFW I only had a ?kd? folder, ?registry? folder, and a ?psp? folder so in the X:drive I just made a folder and titled it ?seplugins?, so I was wondering if that could be the reason why it isn?t working for me?
Thanks
