um this guide is okay, it is excellent for what it is trying to do, though with a lil knowlegde a few steps could be skipped (improved at least)
problem is its a guide written for use WITHOUT a modchip, but for complete beginning requires a modchip at some point.
this confuses many people who read it, as they have modchips, but are doing steps they could skip, or just burn a cd off for.
im thinking about creating another masterdvd, this time with a wider variety of apps (that ppl list here, has to be freeware stuff).
also i need help chosing a frontend to select the elfs (ALL ON A DVD, no MEMORY CARD DEPENDANT STUFF).
if i create it successfully, i will rewrite the tutorial and share the dvd, so it can help ppl setup their ps2s easily, and allow for less discs, more mem card space, and lots of free room.

ohh also,
elfs will need links so i can download them.
things such as,
emulators,
mediaplayers,
ftp programs,
smallish homebrew games (i would love heaps of these)
large homebrew games (number depends on how much space is left)
hdloader(advance)
also usb version, to have lots of compatibilty
ps2 apps (dnas id for ex)
elf launchers (one would be primary, others so people can use what they want, could be changed in the system.cnf for whoever downloads)
also like DMS formatting tool would be good, ps2os would be included (must need working usb).
any other apps people can think off.
a big wanted feature, for the elf launcher, would be USB key compatibility.
so u can select elfs, on the disc, mem card, usb key, and hdd.
ensuring u have maximum space everywhere.

Guys, everytime I try to connect the ps2 to pc FlashFXP says no route to house.
Last night, I tried again and this time I installed the Microsoft TCPIP version 6 to my pc. When I tried to do connect again, the FlashFXP says connected to 192.168.0.1 but then it cuts off saying that "request time out"
I PS2 is 39006 and mod-ed with 40 gigs HDD
I'm using windows XP SP2 and,
The PS2 IP is 192.168.0.1 Netmask 255.255.255.0
The PC IP is 192.168.0.2 Netmask 255.255.255.0
I wonder what am I doing wrong.... Any ideas?

yeah, I think what I did was I ping the 192.168.0.1 but it said request timed out, then I tried to ping the 192.168.0.1 and it said relaid from bla...bla..bla, but the network connection works! next I tried to hook up from FlashFXP to 192.168.0.10 and it works!!! yatta!!!
but,... um what should I do now, guys? :o

er.. the connection is working fine, but when I try to put the keylauncher, hdloader, and execftp into the MC the exploit CD just hangs and does nothing else for 2 hours!!!!
anyone have an idea of what files should be put to the MC\0\BA-SYSTEM directory so that it would read them ELF(s)?
I'm flabergasted...

I live in INdonesia, all the PS2 and Xbox sold here are moded. mine is a 39006 I don't know what mod chip installed on my ps2, but the networking thing to pc works fine. I just have to burn the Execftps and it all went well, but I want to be able to load the elf straight from the MC. Don't know how to do it ... :(

my question is why?
put something like ps2os, on a disc, and all ur elfs with it.
using that u could select and run elfs from CD MEM CARD and even ur HDD.
hope that helps

Hi,
I've been using the method described here for ages and its been working really well. I've reformatted my pc a couple of times and its all been working fine, until recently and now when I use LordBogami's HDL Dump GUI v 2 or 2.1 with hdl dumb 0.8.3 I get an error when trying to access the ps2 hd over the lan of "bad apa partition".
The drive works fine with hd loader and there's around 60gb of a 200gb drive, and the drive is on the compatibility list.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any solutions?

i had a "the target machine actively refused it" error beforehand.
id suggest trying to use newer version of hd_dump server and the corresponding pc side thingy.
either that or sum part of ur hdd is stuffed, and may need a reformat :(, in which case all games go over again

I followed this tut to a "T" except that my ps2 is on a router. I changed the config file to make my Ps2 IP to 192.168.1.4 and I installed the server on the ps2 fine. I transfered the Title.db and Boot.Elf files to the appropriate place on the memory card. I put in my Ps1 game and it booted to the server....
there is only one problem. The Ps2 states that the IP address of the ps2 is "back" to the 192.168.0.10. This is odd because I changed it when I FTP'ed into it initially to transfer over the .db and .elf files to the memory card. Why would it NOW read the ip of the Ps2 as 192.168.0.10????? anyone? It says this:
use mce:/Sys-conf/ipconfig.dat to configure Ip address
Where is that config file? how to I change it? I already initially changed the config file before I made the .ISO. So this is another config file? ...bleh... any help?

use mce:/Sys-conf/ipconfig.dat to configure Ip address
if u have a file like that in your memory card, then it will read that one over an image (.iso).
just put ur edited one there in sys-conf/ipconfig.dat
other than that, write more cleary, thats what i assume you are asking, but i am not 100% sure.
what i believe u have done is.
1)dropped execftps on your hdd (with ur custom config in .iso file)
2) used execftps to transfer hdl_server stuff onto mem card.
3) run hdl_server. and gotten diff ip
if execftps ip info is inside the .iso and booted through hdadvance, then only that execftps will kno that ip info.
you have 2 choices.
1) make a hdl_server boot iso, and copy it to ur hdd like u did execftps (execftps isnt realli needed for most people, its nice to have but).
2) fire up execftps, and make a ipconfig.dat in where it is searching for it (google or read original thread).
hope that helps.
helpingpeople@yearsago.bitmeintheass.com if you need 1 on 1 (GMT+8) so i could be sleeping when ur not.

Thanks. I fiddled around with it last night and realized I had to create another folder in the MCE through FTP and then transfer the IPCONFIG.DAT. Originally I was including the IPCONFIG.DAT along with the CONFIG.DAT when I created the .ISO. ITs all good now.
