Hey guys.

I have a problem connecting with FTP to PS2.
Probably the IP is wrong.

I have connected the ps2 with Ethernet cable to my laptop.
The laptop connects to the Internet wireless thru linksys wireless router.
I try to connect using 192.168.0.10 and it doesn?t work?
What should I do?

hmm last person to post..

what u need to do is edit ipconfig.dat or config.dat, for hdl server and execftp respectively.

EXAMPLE

192.168.0.35 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1

EXAMPLE END

first section is the desired ps2 ip address. (this should be outside the values that the router's assigns (DHCP). check ur router for this info.

section section is the subnet mask (should be 255.255.255.0 unless u have specific changed settings)

the last section is the gateway, either the router's ip address, or a computer's ip address depending on your setup and wether or not u you ICS.

** note if the first value is inside the values used by ur router, the connection will probably fail.

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
I will try those ips and I will let you know.

I have to re-create the ISO file from step 1 of this tutorial and edit the CONFIG.DAT with the new ips right?

hmm.. do you have ur router's ip correct?. also are u running any type of firewall on your pc?, sometimes the windows xp firewall turns itself on automatically.

also im not sure what address linkys routers use, it may be 127 instead of 192

u have to find out this about ur router.. i just wanna eliminate all options, no matter how simple :D

post all ur settings and i will look over them :D

okay, id just like to give u an example of what to look for :D.

my router's ip : 192.68.0.1
my ps2's ip (config.dat or ipconfig.dat) : 192.168.0.35

so ip config looks like this

192.168.0.35 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1

however if ur router used (for example) : 127.73.0.1
then ur ps2 would be : 127.73.0.* *=wildcard

so the ip config would look lyk

127.73.0.* 255.255.255.0 127.73.0.1

kinda hope that helps

okay also, one last thing, how is your ps2 connecting to the network? like what setup do u use and how does it work?. also can u play online with it? is it setup properly via the network setup disc.

I found the problem.
As I said I was connecting the PS2 directrly to my laptops ethernet port while the laptop is connected to the internet wirelessly thru a linksys router.
Linksys IP is 192.168.1.xx
But the FTP connected only when I connect the PS2 to the router...
So basically the problem was the connection.
I should connect the ps2 to directly to the router insteap of the laptop.

Now the problem is that by running ExecFTPs from the HDD, hard drive files are not accesable from FTP.

I propably have to install ExexFTPs to the Memory Card in order to access the HDD files...
Any idea of how I can do that?

nMIK3 if that works go with it, u should be able to have it work the other way, u just need to be setup rite lol

okay to access the hdd, u need to have partitions already there.
if doesnt matter where execftp is installed, i run it from a disc when i need to use it.

in flashxp, if u have it.

go raw command (shortcut ctrl-r)

type

SITE MNT /pfs/0/ hdd:*****

where ***** is ur partition name, if you are only using small files, like elfs, u can put these in the boot and hd advcane partitions.

if not and u want big files, such as movies, download the dmsformat tool and run it. (note dms formatted partitions have a + in front, eg. hdd:+****)

when u are finished run

SITE UMNT /pfs/0/

to unmount the harddrive, then disconnect. and ur files should be on your hdd

btw im fairly sure this has been covered, but i cant be bothered reading thru the thread lol

Basically what I want to do is to path my HDLoader with the new 7c patch.
I have downloaded the 7c path from ps2hd.com and I want to copy that .elf file in hdloader and replace it with the original.
How I do that?

I tried "SITE MNT /pfs/0/ hdd:__boot" and I am getting MNT error from the ftp client...

where are u transferring to?

if your transferiing to the mem card, and u do not have enough room, it will fail, but wont say that u dont have enough room.

well, here's what i've found out about the problems uploading/downloading using certain ftp clients --
1.) force your client to use binary transfer mode
2.) make sure you aren't opening new connections for each file(FileZilla does this by default - look in the options to turn it off)

doing that fixed the problems i was having with it claiming files did not exist and not being able to create/upload new files.

I was able to successfuly transfer a ps2 game over my network to the PS2, but when I boot up HDLoader 0.7c (patched) it does not show the game as being installed. Am I missing a step?

what did u use? how did u transfer it?

u would have needed to use hdl dumb.

did hdl dumb show all the other games u have?, was the hdd formatted correctly?

u could try the hdadvance image available at ps2nfo.com. that worked for me.

post everything u have and are doing if i am goign to help u

I installed hd loader onto the mem. card and it was able to read the games I transfered over (but not the ones installed from cd). I guess it works like this:

Loaded from orignals: Boot with HDLoader CD
Loaded from ISO/Backup: Boot with HDLoader elf

I was using HDL Dump with a GUI.

thats strange. as i use a hdadvance on a cd, same as the patched hdloader 0.7.

and i am able to read all the files.

this might be some kind of conflict, are they the same versions of hdloader?

this shouldnt happen lol

Hiya,

Just wanted to say been using the iso transfer through a wireless network for about 5 months now and has totally changed the way I use the PS" - so thanks wiredbojo for all your ongoing advice on this.

I was wondering whether other people are transferring over wifi and what kind of speeds they're getting.

I've used various versions of hdl dumb and the best I've really got on average is less than 1 mb per sec. Usually around 0.6.

Is anyone getting any better than this and if so what software are they using? I used FlashFXP to sort out the memory card exploit and was getting great connection speeds

Cheers!

Hey wiredbojo, not sure if you remember me trying to get this to work a long time ago. I got everything to work finally, I used the newest version of myPS2 instead. It has an FTP running in the background which makes everything a lot easier.

I got the black screen too when I first tried it too. I have a router too BTW.

Here's how to fix it:
Quote:
when u make cdgen image save it as bin and cue (NOT ISO).

google cdmage and d/l it and run it.

choose scan,then repair then rebuild.

now use WHIIP or whatever it was called and use the cue and bin file to install to hdd.

THIS SHOULD RUN

P.S i also dumped a 200mb file onto the image as well. cause some peeps reckon it worked better.

also the black screen is from the program not starting, hda/hdl dont know what to do so it shows black screen. it has nothing to do with a firewall, cause i presume that would display and error in text.
I can't remember who posted this, but credit goes to him/her for this.

If for some reason it still won't work, I know of another way to get a connection. It's actually easier I think, ever heard of myPS2 0.5? Since you have a hard drive and hd advance, it'll be way easier. Although if you use myPS2, you may need to make another partition, but you get the chance to do this when you first start it up and all you have to do is select how big you want it to be. Reason why I think it is easier, is because it has an FTP server running in the background, which I think makes it better, but it's up to you though.
