Also can someone tell me what program do I need to copy the current image on my system or to upload a new one?
I changed the services file just by accessing the box by FTP so I have not done any flashing yet!
Thanks again for all the help.
I'd recommend IFA. Get it here:

Thanks, I've just ordered a crossover cable as I think it's required as opposed to connecting over a router which I'm currently doing.
The software is also complaining about a dual core processor and saying I need to switch it off at the Bios. This sounds a little complicated...
Also how do I copy the image already on my box? The software does not seem to allow that.
Thanks again for all the help,
Robert

Hi Robert,
Crossover cable IS required for direct connection from PC to dbox. However, it is not required if you use a router..
Eg:
Dbox >>>>>>>>>> PC
crossover
or..
Dbox >>>>>>>>>> router >>>>>>>>>> PC
patch patch
Either of the above connection examples is fine for IFA, however if you encounter difficulties use a null modem cable in addition..
Never heard of problems with dual core cpus - but then I don't have one myself, sorry I can't help on that mate..
To make a copy of your currently installed image, follow these steps on the remote control:
dbox>>service>>software update>>expert functions>>read one partition>>without bootloader
You will now have a file called mtd3.img located in the /tmp folder. Simply FTP to this folder and transfer mtd3.img to your PC. For your own memory, rename it to something like "mygoodimage.img" and keep it safe. This is your image and no matter what you do with your dbox, you can always flash this back and your dbox will be exactly the same as it is today..

Thanks for that, very helpful advice.
I'll have a go at trying some other people's images with my box to see if I can solve the freezing problems i've been having.

Quick question, does this include Set glf and e uro sprt channels that have recently been added?
I have a happy working image, and i've renamed fla unt to set glf. But dont have e uro sp ort. I really don't want to do a scan and have to reorder the channels again.

You won't have to mate.. Just save a copy of your current bouquets.xml, rescan, then replace the newly generated bouquets.xml with yours and reload channel list..

Sorry mate, nearly sure it doesnt include those channels. Just learning myself.
Is that just a matter of adding them into the service file and bouquets?
If so, can you post relevant lines from your services, and I'll try and add em to mine tonight?

One thing I havent tried but imagine might work is doing a scan with bouquet set to "update". I imagine this would rescan all channels and leave them in the same order and only put new channels on at the end. Then you can easily move golf back up to the sports sections with no need for a PC at all.
NOTE! I do not know if this will work!
You can also save your backup images without FTP software, go to internet explorer http://ipofyourbox
This brings up a screen and on one of the options you can backup your image (without bootloader as benifa said). After this down the bottom of the screen it will have a download option, straight away you are given a "save as" option, to rename straight off and save to your desktop. (I found it hard to find my images using FTP on one box for some reason)

Chorus Cable in Cork have updated all their channel adding a load more the Bruteforce scan is picking up 105 Services.
It is still missing a lot of channels compared to the Chorus sagem box. Its missing all the BBC and UTV and some more.
Is there a way of finding what freq the missing channels are on from the Chorus Box.

What is not working?
There was no change for default frequency and symbol rate. In some areas the network table was not updated. Try a search via chorus bruteforce.

I have manually scanned here with the original freq and symbol rate. No channels found. I have also manually input the data in the above cables.xml file for both chorus cable and chorus bruteforce. No channels found.
They must be using a new freq and symbol rate here in Limerick. But how do I find out what it is?

Upload the cables.xml to /var/tuxbox/config at a sportster, overwrite the old one, reboot the box, choose chorus bruteforce at the provider line inside the scan menue and untick fast scan if enabled.
If you cannot select a other provider after a reboot, delete the file scan. conf in /var/tuxbox/config and unplug the box.
In some UK based images the cables.xml goes to /share/tuxbox.

I am in south dublin. I got 2 nokias and put on my irish cables.xml. I did scans on both and only got 130 channels. The scans were fast and I tried about 5 different scans on each box, each only getting 130 TV channels. Signal strength on the nokias seems far better than the sagems, I would recommend them to people since the NTL signal seems crap. I have had 4 sagem 1x's on the same feed and get and average of 25000, one sagem2x gives 30000, one nokia was 39000, the other was 36000. I have yet to disconnect the modem and card readers in the nokia which might further increase this.
In the end I put on sadams dublin image and I got all 141 channels. I updated this image, renaming setanta gold, men & motors, MTV Flux and some other channel. I also put on games, and a more organised bouquet setup (standard, movies, music, discovery types, sport, bunched together). I also updated the cables.xml. This now contains benifa'ss, mgb17's, and sadam's cableie 6887 scans. Thanks to the 3 guys, without whom many would be watching feck all!
I have forwarded this new updated image onto benifa. If anybody needs it urgently I can email it if you pm me and email address.
My new cables file can be downloaded here

Thanks ruprect for your valuable info..
Will upload your image to Tam's server tonight, all being well..
For those interested, Tam and I are compiling a vast library of "area configured" images. This should be available for download next month, however we need as many contributions as possible, so please keep your images coming in to dboxme@googlemail.com
For more info, see http://www.techno-source.co.uk/phpbb/

I understand what you want me to do, but what I don't understand is generally, do you think it is my image (commando) or my frequency and symbol rate that are incorrect.
My system worked fine before the change. I had no problem scanning once I knew the correct Frequency and symbol rate. The ones in cables.xml are not working for me when I put them in manually.

Yes, My chorus box is has all the new channels. Exact same has happened to a neighbour with a different image.
Its just a matter of finding the new frequency and symbol rate. This should at least give me the channels. Opening them could be another problem.
Thanking you for your interest and help.

I also get 130, but they include set gofl. Do you know what the 11 xtra ones are? Is it worth chasing up?
I have noticed that ? sport isn't there.

If the network table is botched in your area you get nothing via a netid search. You have to use a bruteforce scan with disabled fast scan.
