Hmmmm okay. I am wondering if this same method will work here in America on an NTSC machine. The magazines are different this month, but the demo discs look to be the same. And I'm not surea bout the whole PAL/NTSC thing on the 360. I know the XBox could handle it just fine, but I haven't heard about the 360 yet.

I may pick up the OXM on my lunch break.

Anyway you could put a little more detail as to how you burnt the disc? I understand you FTP'ed the contents to your PC from your xbox1, and replaced the King Kong contents w/the Condemned contents.

Also, what is the total size of the Demo disc alone? Have you tried just burning the demo disc to a DVDR itself and seeing if it booted?

I'm interested as well. I'm hoping to get a 360 this week(hoping!)and am going to look for the magazine today. Please post video if you do get time stevednp3. This could be the begining of homebrew on the 360...or at least making back-ups of original games :)

My robot is mad!

I cant see why it shouldnt work on both NSTC and PAL as long as the demo disk is in the same format.

You will see about 10 folders - Pic, Videos, demos etc and at the root are default.xex, default.xbe, menu.ini and something else.

All I did was delete the contents of king kong and put in condemned after extracting the ISO dump using the new 360 extract tool.

The disk came to over 7GB but Im sure you could cut more things out of the demo disk to bring it down to DVD5 as condemned is only 4.1GB, I didnt want to change too much on the first go.

I then burnt the contents using Nero as a UDF Dvd format - NOT ticking xbox compatabilty.

The xbox can boot default.xex as we know from downloading the BC update from MS site, so maybe theres no digital sig in the demo disk's default.xex.

Something they overlooked and something we can put to very good use.

So UDF was the only thing you did in Nero? You just made sure it was a UDF DVD and burnt with Nero? No other options were chosen? I don't really use Nero much at all, but I know I have it installed.

As I said I may grab this on my lunch break and try it out when I get home.

hmm...still think your talking crap.
cant believe some people are believing what you are saying. if this was true, do you think you would be the first to find it? team xecuter, or another big group would find it. you cant just alter stuff on a disk. it doesnt work like that. have you never heard "when you take one byte out, you have to put another back in somewhere else"? when you put something bigger on the disk, you alter its digital signature. im getting my 360 soon, and i will try your "method", but im 99% certain ur talking out of ur arse.

I agree it sounds very unlikely but hey, no one has confirmed/denied it either way so I'm keeping my eyes open. You also have to realize there could possibly be loopholes in there somewhere.

I mean if you look at gameshark for example, do you realize that gameshark is NOT signed by Sony? It can run on the PS2 directly w/out a modchip AND without a signed executable.

So there are always ways...

thats ps2 tho. you can take the lid off your ps2, and switch your original game with a backup.

have you not seen the thread on xbox-scene? its been locked. that tells me that nobody believes it. if your read that thread, its far more detailed. this thread really should be locked.

chedabob I really dont give a toss if you believe me or not.

If it was left to people like you nobody would believe anything and nothing would get done. Until you get an 360 and try things yourself SHUT UP.

I'm no hacker and dont claim to be all I have done is messed with a few things and it worked.

I thought of posting a video but I only have a old camcorder and it would need to be captured through my capture card but what the point of going to all that effort, if someone like you is going to say I edited it to look like the game booted.

Do you work for MS dont you want things to get rolling ????

The demo disk is not rocket science it dosent look byte 4 byte when you click on a game its just looking for a default.xex to boot.

If anyone else has more questions I would be glad to help just to show this works. I dont like using AIM but can meet up in some other chat area.

What other chat methods do you use? I am on MSN, AIM, and also on IRC as we speak.

let me know how to contact you so we can talk al ittle bit. I have had no luck locating a store around me that has the newest issue yet. I may check a book store after work.

EDIT: Oh steve ... and its not the part where it's looking for the other xex file in the King Kong demo that people dont belieev, its the fact that you can boot up a .xex file from a DVDR disc that people dont' believe. And by the .xex file, I mean the demo executable file that launches the whole demo, from a DVDr.

I can't get into yahoo chat for some reason. you don't have MSN or irc you can get on, or even AIM for a little bit?

Also, how big is the demo disc alone?

I bought this mag and disk at the weekend and after reading this thread, I decided to pop it into my Xbox 1 and take a look at it.

I think everything Steve is daying is correct. The disk is readable on the Xbox1 and contains a few demos like Serious Sam. When I look at the disk in a File Manager there is a FullAuto and a KingKong directory in the root of it, visible from the Xbox 1.

I don't have any ISO's to try this with but I think this is 100% legit.

steddyman ... can you do this?

send the contents from your xbox1 -> PC via FTP, then burn the demo disc to a DVDR and let us know if it boots. It is under 4.5gb so it should fit on a DVDR.

(i'm assuming its under 4.5Gb since w/condemned its 7.0GB, and Condemned is 4.1Gb alone).

cant wait to hear confirmation of this hack....or at least someone else
who has tried it and got it to work...

If it does work then MS severly screwed up their protection scheme but the fact that the disk needs to do two things may be the key...
as you all know games like HALO 2 are playable on both the origonal
xbox (obviously) and the 360 allows for backward compatability...however we all know that if you put a 360 game in a normal xbox it will give an error message.....now if that demo disk has both xbox and 360 demos on it (which no one has denied it does)...then some how the disk is allowed to be read by normal xbox...therefore one could ftp to a pc , and possibly see and dl the 360 content....

now stevednp3's post came out right around the time these 360 isos started to show up on the net and then the iso extraction tools...stevednp3's description of what these files look like does seem to be accurate....

my conclusion...I'm more inclined to believe stevednp3's post until someone else rpoves otherwise only because of this unique disk that MS release....although I'm hoping to get my box on sunday, I'm buying the mag right now...this disk may prove to be worth its weight oin gold if it works...

my two cents, again cant wait to hear...

yeah, chedabob. I made that post on xbox-scene, and they tore it apart. haha. I just wanted to see what they would think. I'd still try it if I could because it sounds much more promising than a lot of other ideas I've seen so far.

well I got the disc guys, and hate to break it to you, but its BS.

i didn't have a DVD-DL disc, but I ripped the demo disc and burnt it to a DVD-R and it gives you the same error as it does if you try to play any of the rips tshat are out there.

It recognizes it as a game but thats about it. It won't play it.
