ok, no worries...gave up on that way of doing things... would have been fine ig i had visual basic or something..checked out the file i was missing and it's one that don't have on xp..anyway found visual basic 6 and tried to install, but wouldn't do it, so gave up on that. Just thought I'd let you know so that if anyone else is trying sonix tutorial #2 for god of war and runs into the same problems.
Anyway, now have a working copy thanks to jizmaks help. could have had this done around 7 hours ago if i'd done this first..was easy as!!
basically all you're doing is extracting the files from the pak file or whatever and then deleting a few of the files that are un-needed to play the game. rebuild the pak and toc files and then build the iso again.
burn this iso and you're done... burnt it at 8 speed with Nero...works like a charm!!!
I've i'd done this from start to finish in the first place i could have had it done in about 1-2 hours instead of around 10.
thanks guys

@skyda
Read through this thread and you'll find all you need to know... but the bit you really should read would be at the front of the thread from jikmak. He tells you in the very first post how to do everything and what files to delete.

well to tell you the truth skyda. Thats exectly what you do.
But breaking the files down into formats that you can work with is a different story. That is why you need all the tools. The easiest way i can think of explaing this to you is as followed
Go bake a cake... And then try to take the eggs back out.
Do you get where im coming from?

Quote: Go bake a cake... And then try to take the eggs back out.
LMAO :) Great analogy.
Serously follow the steps on the first page and it will work,
There is no easier way if there was we all wouldnt be doing this
now would we.
Special thanks to Black_Ice and everyone else that is helping
with GOW and this thread in my absence.
keep up the good work

Newbie alert!!
Hi Guys, might be one for Jizmak - hope you can help... I have a Dual layer DVD Writer and have burnt a Copy of God of War onto a Ritek Dual Layer +R DVD successfully using Nero.
My PS2 is modded with the Matrix infinity chip and seems to play the game fine - upto a certain stage.
***** MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS *************
I'm now on the Pandora Temple stage where Kratos has just climbed abroad the Titan Cronos and has reached Pandora's Temple. There is a savepoint nearby. When I try to save, it just hangs. Also when I try to run across the bridge without saving it shows a 'Loading' prompt but again just hangs and doesn't let me get any further. It's really frustrating !!
Do you think it is just a bad copy? Should I use more reputable Dual Layer DVD Media like DL +R Verbatim dvds to get past this problem? Or is there another way for me to create a fully working copy of God Of War?
Thanks v much for your help :-)

God Of War Report:
I have played my backup of GOW to the very end and there are something i think i should bring to your attentsion.
First of all the game runs very smoodthly throught-out except for in two places.
On one incident while about half way through the game, i had just finished watching a video clip and started to advanced towards a save point. The game froze up and crashed.
But on re-starting the game, i was able to play through the video and onto the save point with no negitive effects what so ever, i even re-started a few times to make sure. (I am undecided weither this was a freak co-incidence or if it is a copy error, i am leading towards a one time freak incidence since i was able to restart the game and move on without any futher problems)
The second incident occurs just at the end of the game, A video clip froze up and seemed to have crashed, i was tired so i left the room for a few minutes leaving the console on, and returned to find the game was unfrozen.I have not retested this yet, so i am unsure if its as a burn issue or another glitch, but considering that was the second glitch i was being more convinced that this was a burning issue.
Apart from the two issues mentioned above i have had no other problems with the game, and i consider the backup to be very successfull. Two minor problems which did not get in the way of my gameplay, although they did slow me down a slight bit
jayzee18: This sound familiar to your problems. just tought you'd be interested.

Can anyone help me out with the sonix tutorial there is a missing part on the one i d/l it say "Now, a lot of people have trouble opening any m2v files directly in TMPEG, so for the benefit of those, I will show you the alternate way do doing it. If you can open the m2v files directly then you can skip this little section."
Im missing the section that tells you how to do that, if anyone out there could help me. you can email me @ jardila32@hotmail.com or jus reply to this.....thanx.....

My copy worked :D, great game I must say. Although I do had trouble some times in between, that loading used to appear quite a few times, even my game got stuck, now to solve this problem if any of you guys are having it also, what I did was either wait for atleast 6 mins or eject the disc, clean it with a soft cloth not in circular motion, and then re-insert the disc and wait for it to load, if it doesnt work the first time, give anohter couple of shots, it worked for me. And also turn On Widescreen and switch off Panscan and Soften, it seems to help.
Good luck to ya all. ;)

You have probabily rebinded the .pss files wrong. So the video clip doesnt know how to load.

Just my contribution....... Have just backed up GOW PAL to Verbatim DVD-R5 with Sonix method on page 1. Only my second rebuild and my first double layer ever. Haven?t played too much yet, but it is working extremely well so far. Must admit, it was confusing to follow at first, but if you just follow guide to the letter, you won't go wrong. Many Many Thanks to Sonix......Your hard work is very much appreciated.
